Tuesday’s Tumbles.

Hello everyone on this the last day of the month of April! I hope all of you are having a wonderful day.  Enjoying all the nice weather that I know some of you are enjoying since you told me in the comments about these unbelievable temperatures.  And we’re still on the same continent.  I can understand it being hot in other places around the world.  But really.  On the same continent yet.  Actually I think this part of Canada is a world of it’s own.  It’s cold again.  Snowed yesterday.  Cloudy and cold today.  This feels like the end of March.  Not the end of April.  To be honest, most years the end of March is warmer than this.  But it has been getting colder the last few years.  Not good.

Muffin getting ready for an afternoon nap.

Why tumbles?  Well, because the temp tumbled for one thing.  It was beautiful spring weather for a while.  And as I was watching out the window, 2 squirrels got into a bit of an argument on the feeder.  They rolled around and…tumbled right over the edge.  Down to the ground, ten feet below. 😹 Didn’t bother them at all.  They just kept on with their ‘discussion’.  Quite loudly.  They finally ran.  Both were females.  The 2 males around have learned, finally, to keep their distance when a female is present.  Even the terrible LB!😂 He chased them all away last year.  The females around this year don’t put up with him at all.  Good. He needed to be put in his place.

Muffin’s friend, Leya, looks like she is just waking up from a nap. Okay, they have never met, they’re pawpals.

Then there is Muffin.  We were playing skiffleball this morning and she was running and diving after that ball that she tumbled more than once.  But she certainly enjoyed herself. I hope I don’t offend my dog loving readers here.  But I do enjoy my cat.  I love cats period.  Always have.  Have always had a cat.  I love dogs too by the way.  Especially big dogs.

Another pawpal of Muffin’s, my landlord’s cat Scrappy.

At one place I lived there was a nice walking trail nearby.  So I tried it out.  First day as I was getting close to the trail, this beautiful Irish Setter was sitting on the sidewalk.  So I stopped to say hi.  She then followed me for my walk.  I wasn’t too sure about that.  Her owners might think I’m stealing their dog.  But she wouldn’t leave.  Until we got to the spot we met, then she sat down and I kept going.  Good.  Next day, same thing.  The whole time I lived there that dog would be waiting for me. And go walking with me.  She was a great companion on my walks.  Her owners were an older couple that couldn’t take her walking anymore and were overjoyed that I would take their dog with me.

But, hey, I live in a small apartment.  Just not the right place for a big dog.  Perfect for a cat though.  Like Muffin.  Many people like cats for pets.  Cats are actually the most popular pet, with more than 500 million worldwide.  Here in N. America, cats outnumber dogs as pets by a wide margin.  Cats played important roles in WWI and WWII.  They kept the mouse and rat populations under control on ships and in trenches, protecting valuable food supplies.  Many cats received medals and ribbons for their service in war time.  They were even used as messenger cats, just like pigeons.  But as pets, that’s where they really purr!

Almost sleeping, but still watching that camera.

You won’t find a better stress reliever than a purring cat curled up on your lap.  Just petting a cat will see stress go way down, immediately.  Many animals can do this for people, but cats are at the top.  Just something about them that says, ‘calm’.  Now, there is a bit of a training period.  But cats are very patient.  Once they have you trained it’s easy from then on.  Muffin says I’m still in the training process.  Hmm.  Might be right.  Oh well.

Oops. That’s not a cat.  But almost as cute.

A very big thank you to my good friend Ilona for letting me use a couple pictures of her cat, Leya, today.  Well, it has been nice visiting with you again today, I hope you all have a wonderful day/night and God bless!

Steve and Muffin.

  1. Hi Steve, animals really are wonderful. We just came from the vet this morning for both our cat and dog’s annual visits. All good.
And cooler temps forecasted for the rest of the week…
This morning on our walk we spotted a little bear-running the other way! Lots of spring flowers-but everything seems just a little bit off. Hmmmm….
Have a great rest of your day!🌻

    • Thanks for that N.Z.! Nothing like having some animals around! With me, both indoors and outdoors. Too cool here, I’m looking for that true spring weather that will actually stay here. Thanks and have a great day as well!😃

      • I keep wondering if this is nature’s way of reversing ‘global warming’? Maybe the beginning of the next ice age? I don’t know.
Yeah-I do love all the wild critters too. We’ve had a raven that comes every day (for about two years now) to a perch where we put food. Big bird! And so smart too! It’s nice to see the finches return. And I just saw a grosbeak yesterday. He really says “spring is here” to me! 🙂

      • Apparently back in the 1960s it was cold and scientists were saying we were heading into another ice age. Then it changed by the mid 1970s and started to warm up. Now it’s returning to the same cold weather again. Personally I think it could be normal weather cycles, but that’s just a thought. All I know is, it’s getting colder! Our ravens have mostly disappeared now, off nesting somewhere, they always leave in the summer.

      • I agree! Totally normal—everybody pipe down and go clean up your room, right? HaHa! (as I text with dust cloth flung over my shoulder-I’d better practice what I preach, right? 🙃). I think a fun story would be that yes, it all melts (another tropical cycle?) away-and what would we find??? 🤔
Ok, back to work and air drumming to Styx….
        Be well, my friend.💜

      • 🥰 well that just made my day a whole bunch warmer! Seems kind of quiet today? And how annoying when the system says error-just as you hit the reply button-and I’m like 🙈….where did it gooooo??????
Hey, what did Muffin think of my poem? It’s a bit dark fairytale, right now. Prison and fear…but I promise (spoiler alert) it has a happy ending! 🙃

        Liked by 1 person

      • Oh good, happy endings are great, especially when they’re happy! Okay, so that doesn’t make sense, I’m tired!😂😹Yes, that has happened to me too with that error message! Very annoying indeed. Great poem by the way! Look forward to the ending.😃Things have been kind of quiet today. Hmmm.

      • Aaarrrggghhh! Ok I feel better-it’s not just me. Haha! But it WAS important-and now that person will never know….ya I need the temper tantrum emoji.

Thank you. Yes I also look forward to the ending—and then onto something else…
Happy endings happy beginnings—makes perfect sense to me!
Ok next post just written-awaiting approval by our Mr. Cat and then publish-I still get a little sick in the Pitt of my guts whenever I hit publish. But it’s slowly getting better. I think….
PS. I really enjoyed your poem to your mother. Very sweetly said. Mother’s Day coming…💜
Ok, quittin’ time. See ya next time! 🧚‍♀️

  2. Thank you so much for adding Leya, well yes she was super sleepy this morning and lazy😂

    • Well, cats do sleep up to 17 hours a day. Guess they need their beauty sleep, maybe that’s my problem, I don’t get enough sleep! Thanks for letting me use Leya’s pictures, much appreciated! I hope you have a wonderful night!😃🌙😺

      • Came back not long time ago and checking a little bit my blog and i will log out soon, how about you?

        Liked by 2 people

      • Yes, me too, I have to eat soon anyway and tomorrow I have to make a trip to Winnipeg, it’s our closest big city about 2 hours west of here. So an early night for me, have to get going early.

        Liked by 1 person

      • Oho😁what for you are going there? Must be huge reason for such a long route, i feel sleepy after driving 30minutes, the car his this effect on me😁

        Liked by 1 person

      • That’s true, I get sleepy in cars too, though I have driven up to 20 hours at a time before calling it quits for the day, but that was a long time ago. I don’t think I could do that now. I have to go there in order to get a passport, closest place to do it since they closed the office here. Oh well. It will actually be about 5 hours travel time including driving around in the city. That’s okay, not like I go there very often.😃😀

  3. Hey Steve 😊 I can see you’re enjoying Tuesday’s Tumbles 😊 so no pictures for the squirrels? 😁
It’s really annoying that it’s cold and snowy again! Hope May will bring better news! 😣
Muffin has lot of cute friends 😊 Hope she’ll meet them for real haha
I believe also dogs are great but as you said they need bigger space but they are amazing! Don’t know what’s Muffin opinion on that haha
Hope you’re having a great day and wish that May will be warmer 😊 Have a great time

    • Hi Huguette! I’m just over reading your post! Yes, I hope May will be warmer, but we were told that April would be above normal temps, didn’t work out that way. Sigh. But always more hope for tomorrow. Still, we have had snowstorms in May too! Hard to believe I know. Yes, I really do love dogs too and if I could I would have one. Muffin actually loves dogs,😸 even the fox that used to come around, but she definitely does not like wolves!!🙀 Muffin has seen my landlord’s cat, just through the window and she does like him, as for Leya, I don’t think that’s ever a possibility. But she has looked at the picture and seems interested. It’s been a good day, tomorrow will be a longer day, have to make a trip to Winnipeg, our closest large city about 2 hours west, actually 2.5 hours to where I need to go. It’s an easy city to get around, I used to live there. Getting late out your way, stay warm/cool, whichever you prefer and hope your night is a good one too!😃🌙

      • Thank you Steve 😊 And I do believe you about snowstorms in May, after all what you’re telling us, how we can be surprised! But I hope it won’t happen though!
Oh I love wolves hahah it’s enough that Muffin loves dogs, this is actually amazing! And foxes hahah 😁
Love at first sight then, cute Muffin 😊😸😸
Good luck with that trip and hope you’ll enjoy your day despite the long distance 😊
I always choose warm haha It’s after midnight but tomorrow is the Labor Day so it’s a day OFF 😊 Have a great afternoon and best of luck for tomorrow

      • Oh yes, it should be a good day tomorrow even if long. Wolves are amazing animals, I still have a couple wolf stories to share yet, I should do that soon. Some good bear stories too. Plus cats and foxes, lots of ideas! Your Labor Day is 4 months ahead of ours. Yes, warm is better!!😃🌴

      • Yes, always the first Monday of September and our last big weekend of the summer! Terrible to think of the end of summer and it hasn’t even started yet! Summer is so short!😭😲

        Liked by 1 person

      • First Monday of September this year will be my birthday hahaa
Last weekend of Summer? OMG our summer is from June 21st until September 21st but basically it’s summer until November (the fall season is almost summer here as well as the spring, so now it’s almost summer with 26C)
Hope your summer will start ASAP because it’s really tiring 😣

        Liked by 1 person

      • Yes! Our spring is a summer and this year was the coldest! Usually it’s warmer starting April, but we had some storms 2 weeks ago, now it’s stable
Sorry I can totally understand :/ hope it will get warmer there

        Liked by 1 person

      • Eventually it warms up nicely, most people around here complain if the temp goes about 25! Maybe because it’s so cold all the time so that feels hot. Not to me though, for me hot starts at 35 but I still like it though, we get so little of it! Should be back up to 10 by the weekend, yes, still cold but better than today.😂

        Liked by 1 person

      • Good morning Steve, hope you’ll have a great day 😊 see why the temperature is low? Because people complain about 25!! Oh god I complain because it’s not above 30 😂
10 is freezing for me haha so good luck anyway with warmer weather always

      • Good morning Huguette, oddly enough it seems most people like the temp to stay about 15 to 20C. That’s not summer! But we have had summers like that however. I prefer it around 30 or higher. Lots of driving today, and it’s a rainy day which makes me tired.😴🚗 Oh well, needs to be done. Have a great day Huguette!😃

      • Enjoy the day despite 😊 I love long drives if no traffic and no rain hahah
Best of luck and hope things will be smooth and great 👍😊

      • Thanks, it was a good day and no rain, but cool, only 4 today,🥶 way too cold for May 1! 5 and a half hours driving for 15 minutes in the government office, amazing. It took longer than 15 minutes to find a place to park!😂 I’m glad it was quick and easy, no problems at all, so that was very nice. Hope your day was a good one Huguette!😃

        Liked by 1 person

      • Oh my! 4! is that even a weather :/ it’s May for god sake! Glad your day went good despite, 15 minutes not a very long time😂 I leave after the first minute hahaha
it was a great lazy day, thank you 😊

      • It looked so odd to see people wearing heavy jackets, gloves on May 1! It just should not be that way, unbelievable weather and now the forecast is for a very cool summer. Which means we may not get much of a summer, but I still hope the forecast is wrong. We were told it would be a warmer than normal spring and it turned out to be one of our coldest ever! Oh well, guess we take what we get, but it would be nice if the forecast was a bit closer to reality!😂😂

        Liked by 2 people

      • It is odd indeed! Well let’s hope you’ll get a warmer weather despite all the predictions and forecast! Especially when they are wrong haha It’s really hard
Have a great day and best of luck 😊

  4. Hi Steve no pets allowed in the place I rent. Is Muffin a Burmese Cat. My friend had a Blue Bernese for 15 years, unfortunately Teddy was in the way of a car. I am in the process of making a memorial picture of Teddy for my friend Joan. I will give it to her for her birthday in June.

    Liked by 1 person

    • Hi Ally, thanks for reading! No, Muffin isn’t Burmese, though I did have one once, beautiful cat! Muffin is a Calico (not an actual breed though it should be), even though she doesn’t really look it. 15 is actually quite good for Burmese. Yes, it’s tough when we lose them like that, good idea you have. Have a great day/night!
