This Is You

The melody of a singing bird,

After it arrives in spring,

A most pleasant sound that I have heard,

Truly moves my heart to shout and sing.

The fragile wings of a butterfly,

Cheerful colors going here and there,

Flower to flower, not asking why,

And floating so lightly through the air.

The soft gurgling of a country stream,

It’s refreshing water, clear and cool,

Sunlight drifting like a summer dream,

Ducks swimming ’round in a little pool.

Soft petals of a beautiful rose,

So rich, can other flowers compare?

But though there be so many of those,

Your beauty outshines, so lovely, so rare.

      • Oh yes, please do! 👍 writing poetry is difficult. It’s different from regular writing. And there are sooo many types of poems too! I’m not so good at rhyming. But that’s ok. It’s therapy for me.

      • Poems don’t need to rhyme, I think most poems don’t actually. I have a harder time writing without rhyming, just doesn’t come out right for me, maybe with practice. It is good therapy for sure. Enjoy!😄😸

  12. Wow… just wow… Steve… This was so beautiful… I haven’t landed yet, I can read your poem again and again and again.

    You know that butterflies mean something special to me and my soul felt at home. I bathe in your words Steve, I fly in your words Steve, I will live in this poem like a butterfly and never lose me Steve…(and Muffin)

    • Hi again Benjamin, another comment that went to spam! Thanks so much for reading! Yes, I started writing poetry when I was a kid actually, then I stopped for quite a while because everyone was telling me my poems were not good. Then I started again last year but wasn’t planning to share any, but a couple of my follower friends encouraged me to post them so I decided to try and have been getting good comments about them so I will continue to share them now and then. I hope you have a wonderful weekend!😃😺
