For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning and Happy Sunday to everyone! As I mentioned last week, today’s wildflowers will all be pink varieties. Today will also conclude the wildflower series, at least for now. In September I will begin a new series of pictures to share each Sunday. I am not sure what that series will be yet, so I can’t let you know ahead of time. The first flower is the pale corydalis which is a common wildflower that loves to live on very rocky areas and doesn’t need much soil to thrive.
Next we have the moss phlox, also called moss pink. This flower seems to like more soil, on the edge of clearings or wet areas.
Next is the deptford pink. This flower can grow almost anywhere, including right in gravel and doesn’t require much water to thrive.
Then we have the swamp smartweed, which, in spite of it’s name, is a wildflower and not a weed. As it’s name suggests, it likes wet places such as swamps, lake or river shores and will actually grow right in the water.
Last on our list today is the Orpine. A rather odd name for a very beautiful flower, which is really a cluster of smaller flowers, very beautiful when if full bloom. This is another flower that will grow almost anywhere.
Well, I hope you have enjoyed today’s selection of wildflowers. I also hope you can enjoy your Sunday and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.

Yes indeed, the flowers still keep going well into fall, until frost comes along to finish them off. But the leaves are changing color earlier than usual this year.🍁🍂 Thank you so much for your encouraging words Simon,😀 hope your weekend was great and that the coming week is great as well!😃😺🌞
