For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Forest Treasures
Along this forest path I walk,
A bird stops by, with me to talk.
The calming sounds are here so sweet,
Like crunching leaves beneath my feet.
But further on upon the ground,
Pine needles lay and make no sound.
Those giant pines stand proud and tall,
And drop their needles over all.
Rarely in this place shines the sun,
Yet here is life, thriving and fun.
Indian pipe and orchids grow,
All kinds of mushrooms I don’t know.
Plus squirrels playing in the trees,
While cutting pine cones as they please.
Deer jump, and run, having some fun,
Come, see such treasures one by one.

Wish I could rhyme a poem for you but I canβt focus for more than 30 seconds. Going thru caffeine withdrawal and itβs not fun. βΉοΈ
Your poetry is very nice. ππ±βοΈ How do you come up with your poems? How do you write them? Do you sit down and write or do you jot down your ideas throughout the day?

You have stopped coffee??π³π³β
Mostly an idea comes to mind and I sit down and write before the idea disappears!π€πβ I have never tried jotting down ideas like that, maybe I should. Sometimes when a friend and I are out for coffee,β he likes to check the newspaper first thing, so while he does that I write a poem. Then we talk afterwards. I don’t always finish the poem, but get it mostly done and usually I get it finished.π
I hope you have a great day Hilary!ππΊππ

Yep, I stopped sinking coffee AND steeped tea. That lovely steeped tea you taught me how to make, I canβt have it anymore π No choice. I have adult braces now called Invisalign so I can only drink water with them in. I must keep them in 22 hours of the day. So unless I want to chug coffee, which I donβt, I rather just stick to cold beverages. The only thing with caffeine I drink now is steeped chilled Davidβs green tea. I got the steeped from Costco for gourmet tea leaves. Too bad I can only drink it during the 2 hours I have the aligners out…. ππ§
Wow! Thatβs super quick writing a poem. It usually takes me a while to write a longish poem. Very cool that you and your friend have that kind of friendship – you are very lucky. I wish I had a friend who likes reading the newspaper. These days, everyone just turns to their phones for entertainment.

Drinking not sinking. Sorry for the errors. I try to proofread before I submit it.

Wow, I can’t imagine not having coffee to start my day. On the plus side, water is probably the better choice for health anyway.
I seldom spend more than 10 minutes writing a poem, though it does happen.
One of my pet peeves is people who spend their time on their phone after wanting to go for a coffee.β I may as well be by myself.
Have you had any snow out your way?ββ Heard there was supposed to be quite a bit in Calgary and even more at higher elevations. Raining here all day again, heavy for the last few hours. I’m going to lose my walking path completely soon.ππ§π§
I hope you have a great week Hilary!ππΊπππ
