For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Chipmunk Winter
Little chipmunks have gone to bed,
Nice soft grass is under their head.
Safe and warm in their little home,
They dream of spring, when they can roam.
For now they’re happy as can be,
Content and warm with food from me.
I can just see them snuggled there,
Curled up so tight without a care.
Now, their home, I would love to see,
Many peanuts they have from me.
They gather them all summer long,
Those chubby cheeks sure must be strong.
A long time now it sure will be,
Before my chipmunks I will see.

They usually head to bed around the beginning of October, sometimes earlier like last year. But this afternoon it was quite nice and sunny and Skitter, my newest chipmunk came around. But he was way behind the others for gathering food so guess he doesn’t have enough yet. He isn’t too friendly yet though.ππΏ

Just about killed myself hauling the garbage out for pick up this morning. One of the things I’m not supposed to do. Right, and what am I supposed to do with it? Keep it in the bathtub?ππ

Take smaller loads more often. Thats what I need to do. Just an idea. I know life doesn’t always cooperate with our maladies.

They only pick it up once a week, so it’s all one load. It wasn’t real heavy, just awkward.

No chipmunk too big, no peanut too small! π Been watching way too much Paw Patrol with my daughter lately (itβs a terrible show but most little kids shows are).

Thanks for reading! Yes, it must be quite large considering all the peanuts they haul away during the summer.ππΏ

Have you ever thought of doing a children’s picture book? This fits the bill.

do they not come out at all? We had chipmunks in North Ala. but haven’t seen any here in Mississippi. They are pretty cute.

This far north they stay in their dens until spring. They will sometimes come out while there is still snow on the ground in spring if their food runs out too soon. They are cute and very friendly, love having them around.
