Cabin Fever And Other Things.

Hi everybody!  Well, it’s that time of year again.  We are soon entering into December and you know what that means, right?  That’s absolutely right, it’s “Cabin Fever” time again!  Okay, I know, it usually doesn’t start until January.  However, for me it has started earlier than normal.  Meow!  Oh, sorry Muffin, for both of us, I should have said.  Even Muffin feels it.  Ever had “Cabin Fever”?  It’s terrible.  You sit and stare.  You get itchy.  No energy.  You want to do something but just can’t.  You bang your head against the wall.  That part is really no fun.  Sigh.  Not being able to go out always brings on “Cabin Fever”.

A male purple finch showed up today for a little while.

And I certainly have it.  Speaking of ceilings.  Ever notice there is a lot of waste space up there?  Now if there was just an easy way to use that space.  Would be great for storage. Would free up a lot of floor space. In here, anyway.  Chains and pulleys would likely work good, but I’m not so sure my landlord would agree.  Sigh.  A good idea that just can’t be used.  Such a shame.

And so did the female.

Speaking of phones. Not those things that people carry in their hands 24 hours a day, I mean phones, real phones.  Ones that actually stay in place.  Well, most of the time anyway.  Though I do keep dropping mine quite frequently.  But that doesn’t count. However, back to phones.  I am sitting here all morning, the phone does not ring.  I am making my lunch, and the phone rings.  Turn to answer the phone.  Knock lunch onto the floor.  I stand there looking at lunch on the floor.  Phone keeps ringing.  Answer phone, or pick up lunch.  Phone keeps ringing.  What a mess.  My lunch, not the phone.  The phone stops ringing.  Thanks.  Ruined my lunch.

My friendly little white breasted nuthatch.

All afternoon the phone does not ring.  I am making supper.  Phone rings.  Twice in one day.  I turn to answer phone.  Big mistake.  But I take care not to drop supper.  Instead I bump into a cabinet which causes me to move my arms which causes one arm to land on supper which causes supper to land on floor which causes Steve to jump up and down, bang head on counter and, and…AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It’s okay.  I’m fine.  I’m calm.  Phone stops ringing.  Feel like burying phone in very deep snow out in the very frozen and very cold outdoors.  But refrain from doing so.  This time.  Mainly because we don’t have any deep snow yet.

Ahhh, “Cabin Fever”, comes around every winter and brings so much joy into a person’s life.  I hope you enjoy the remainder of your weekend and God bless!

Steve and Muffin.

  1. Perhaps it is time to update to a smartphone, Steve! It is incredible how addicted people (including myself) are to these little rectangles, but it does save a lot of bumps and scrapes scrambling to answer it.

My parents have traditional phones in the house which aren’t wireless, and I cannot tell you how awkward those things are to use. The cord is constantly getting tangled and the phones have knocked stuff off of the tables on several occasions. I think I rather stick to my “outdated” iPhone that never sleeps.

    • I have one, but I don’t plan on getting addicted to it, therefore in the apartment I don’t carry it with me everywhere. Especially when I’m making a meal. Can you imagine what would happen? My phone would end up in my food, or on a hot burner, in a pot, endless possibilities.😲😳😬 Not going to happen. It stays beside my chair. Unless I’m using it.
Personally I prefer traditional phones for normal use. But that’s just me. When I go out my smartphone is always with me.
I just don’t want to end up as a phone zombie. 😳😂🙄Thanks for reading Hilary!

      • Yeah, I guess you are right. You made some very valid points. Smartphones don’t belong in food. I guess having a phone literally in your food is one way to show people what you made for breakfast, lunch etc. but still! Phones are not for eating! 😂😂😂

      • Yep, and knowing me, it would end up in the food for sure! So it’s best to keep it out of the kitchen. Sigh. But it sure has proved itself handy these days since I can’t get up fast enough to answer the phone.
Handy when I was out walking too, for emergencies especially, though I hope there never is one.
        Enjoy your evening!

I can turn the phone off, but whenever I do I forget to turn it back on,😂 then people get upset because I’m not answering my phone. Sigh. I can’t win.🙄 Thanks for reading Simon, I hope you have had a nice relaxing day!😀😺⛄🌲

      • I’m finally back on and I guess you’re in bed by now already enjoying Monday.😠 No? Not enjoying Monday?😳 Oh, that’s bad.😉🙄 Maybe my Monday pictures will help with that rainy day. Nice and sunny today, but cold, still -7 at 2 pm. But nice to see the sun shining anyway.🌞
That is a LOT of water in the street!!!😲😲 Can you still get to work? Do you use a boat?⛵
Hope you can have a sort of nice day anyway. And maybe one of my funny stories will help too, a great way to start any week, laughing at Steve.😂😂😹😹⛄🌲

  3. I suppose that someone could have been watching and rung you just when you were about to eat. I agree with the smartphone thing, I love mine but have to have it on silent or off at work and I usually forget to turn it on again. 4 missed calls today – oops. I have always thought that there must be a way to use the ceiling space too, it’s always to empty and boring.
To avoid snow come and have summer in New Zealand, it’s getting hot here now.

  4. We don’t have a land phone anymore! My hubby and I both have a cell phone and one of the features is it shows who is calling. If I don’t know them, I don’t answer. Then I look up the number and if it is meaningless to me, I add to my blocked number list.

We get many, many robocalls, which in fact, Atlanta, Ga is one of the worst cities for robocalls.

Make it a great day! ☕️😸

    • One of these days I will get rid of my land phone, but for now it’s a necessity. Sigh. I use my cell phone mostly though, but I don’t like having it anywhere near me when I’m cooking, for obvious reasons!
It’s a beautiful sunny day, but cold, which is okay, I’m inside where it’s warm with Muffin beside me.
      Have a great Sunday Eugenia!😃😺⛄🌲
