Coffee With Steve #5.

Red-breasted Nuthatch.

Hello everyone!  I hope you are all well today.  This is the time of year when there is a lot of sickness around, with colds and flu.  Please be careful and take the usual precautions to avoid getting and transmitting these things.  It’s quite amazing, it has been 5 months since I injured myself and yet I am still having some problems.  After seeing my doctor today I discovered this is about as good as it’s going to get.  I will always have problems with this muscle now.

Here we have 3 more of my collection of coverlets, the top one was made in eastern Canada and dates to the 1860s.

So that means I need to be extra careful in what I do from now on.  Especially with things like my spring cleaning, which is going to be slower than ever now.  But I will also need to be careful on my river walk once I’m able to get at that path again.  Though much of the path is easy walking, some areas are quite rugged.  That’s where I will need to be extra careful.  Amazing how something that seemed so simple can cause such problems.

A mixed up bunch of items, mostly from the 1800s, the cat bank is from the 1920s.

But I want to thank all of you for coming over for coffee with Muffin and I again.  Muffin is starting to enjoy these coffee times and meeting everyone.  Hi Tiffany, nice that you could join us again today.  And I see that Muffin has decided to make herself comfortable with you today as well.  Hey there Jim and Richard, nice of you to come by today.  Hi Nina and Pene, glad you could stop by today too.  And here comes Michelle too, nice to see you again.

Another mixed up bunch of stuff, most from the 1800s.

I have coffee, different kinds of tea and hot chocolate available today.  Hi Sheree, I see you have brought along some more of your delicious baking for us to sample.  It is always so good.  And here comes Chrissy and Ribana too, nice to have you join in our coffee time.  Hi Sharon, oh, I see you brought your delicious cinnamon buns along for our coffee today too!  Like Sheree’s goodies, I’m sure they won’t last long.

Most of my woodenware collection, dating from the 1700s to 1900s.

Just thought I would share kind of a general look at some of my “stuff” today.  People sometimes wonder how I manage to get so much into such a tiny apartment.  Well, it isn’t easy actually, takes a lot of practice.  But it’s kind of fun to see how much I can get in here without the place kind of falling out all over the place.  You know, like opening the closet door and everything spills out onto the floor.  Sometimes I think that will happen when I open my outside door and Muffin and I go tumbling out with all my “stuff” following close behind!😲🙀

A couple of my baskets and part of my stoneware collection. If you would  like to know more about something in any of the pics, just ask and I will try to answer.

Anyone ready for a refill yet?  I’m sure Buddy and Jim have empty cups by now.  How about you Tiffany?  Anyone else?  I’m surprised that Muffin is so calm today, she really is enjoying herself.  You’ll have to excuse the fact that my place isn’t quite as clean as it should be, pay no attention to the dust on the shelves.  Terrible really.  I might have to suspend these coffee times until I can get this place cleaned up better.

What was that Lydia?  My kerosene lamps?  Yes, I do actually use them on these dark winter evenings.  They give such a beautiful cozy glow to the room which just adds such a wonderful warmth to the apartment.  Makes me think of a country cabin.  Wow, that wind is really howling out there today, blowing that new snow around.  Well, I’m sure you have probably never seen such a crazy, wacky place as this little apartment.  There is quite a variety of different things here to look at and there is still a lot more yet amazingly.  I hope you have enjoyed our little visit today, be careful on your way home.  I hope you all have a most wonderful day and God bless!

Steve and Muffin.

  1. Oh wow you do have a lot of cool antiques and stuff, Steve! Like browsing through a shop. So much history and when you think of how many hands created these things…the stories they could tell. Wow!
Well, I’ve got the tail end of a cold or something. Much better today but still not a 💯. Staying low and letting it blow. Keeping it to myself and taking lots of immune support herbs. It could be worse—I’m not complaining.
Yes, do be careful, but don’t give up either! Healing takes time. 😊🙃😊

    • Hi Nina! Thanks for stopping by and joining our coffee chat today.😁😸☕☕ It is cool to think of all the history in that old stuff. Who would have thought when they were making those things that one day it would end up in a collection in northern Canada!
Take it easy with that cold so it leaves quickly. You want to enjoy that spring weather you must have by now.
I never thought this healing process would take so long, 5 months.😬 Good thing I didn’t know at the start!🤔😄 I just hope I can get back to my river path again, even if I have to do it more slowly than last year.🚶‍♂️ Yep, never give up for sure. The sun is still shining.🌞😺 Thanks Nina! Hope you have a great evening!😁😸🌙

      • Sometimes I like to wander through some of our antique shops to find something special—and I’m never disappointed! Hand crafted gifts are always fun to make and receive. Thanks for sharing all your treasures here.

Yes, taking it easy today— cold almost gone. We went for a good walk today in the sunshine. Spring flowers coming up. ‘Shooting Stars”—I’ll get the camera out soon…

Still hoping for some snow. I know that’s not what you want to hear. Haha! But we still need it in the mountains. Our snow pack is very low this year which isn’t good for us come summertime. Do you still have any snow?

That sure was good coffee and cookies today—just what the doctor ordered!😊

      • Flowers already! Still about a foot of snow on the ground here with more on the way tomorrow and Sunday. But in between temps in the 30s and 40s. Then next week it gets a bit colder again. March is an up and down month for us and usually our snowiest month of the year.
I always enjoy wandering through antiques shops but none close by anymore, have to drive 2 1/2 hours for the closest one now.
Glad to hear you enjoyed the coffee chat! Enjoy that warm sunshine.😃😺🌞☕☕

      • Our earliest flower is Spring Beauty—just saw several out this afternoon while walking Mr. Cat. Tiny little white flowers.

      • Cool! It’s going to be a long time before our first flowers come out! Sometimes mid April, but usually early May.

      • Crocus and daffodils snow drops and so many others I don’t know their names. Ooh and heather is blooming now too—bright pink. Rain and snow maybe this weekend. Keeping my fingers and toes crossed…

      • Wow. Daffodils don’t bloom here until the end of May normally, sometime mid May, crocus not much earlier, snow drops sometimes in late April.
Hmm, I hope it stays over there!😁

Well, I’m off to neverland—extra rest to kick this bug in the behind. Thanks for the chat, Steve. See you and Muffin next time😊😻

  2. What a gathering of interesting things and people today. Those cinnamon buns were delicious, I’ll have to get the recipe. Sorry to hear your Dr thinks you won’t get any better. Is he a GP or a specialist?

    Liked by 1 person

    • He’s a GP but a specialist is looking things over too. That part was today. Basically got the same info. However, with the right physiotherapy it is possible to get other muscles to take over from this torn muscle so eventually it will essentially be more normal. But I will have to be very careful since it will be much easier to damage things worse. I just hope it won’t prevent me from walking my river path. Thanks for joining us Sheree and thanks for your interest too, much appreciated.

  3. Oh no Steve, I’m praying for complete healing. Muffin it’s always a pleasure to see you. She’s so cuddly. ☺️
I was very curious about how you maintain all your things, I was impressed.
When you opened the coat closet, I cringed because I thought an avalanche of things would fall out. 😆
I prefer less stuff. If ever you need help cleaning let me know.
I know, I know, I wish I could have had the desserts but I’m watching what I consume. Focusing more on healthy eating. Hey, could I bring smoothies next time?

    • Hi Tiffany! Thanks for coming today and thanks for your prayers, much appreciated!😁😸
Sometimes I wonder how I manage to do it too. But Muffin always tries to help with things like dusting.😸 Tries. That tail really gets going and she hasn’t broken anything yet. That’s more than I can say!😬
I’m always willing to have help cleaning that’s for sure. I should go with less stuff too I suppose, but I have always liked a clutter, but organized clutter.😄🙄
No desserts? Oh my. Sure, smoothies are great, I love them, but usually I’m too lazy to make them!😂☕
      I hope you have a wonderful evening!😃😺🌙

  5. do you have any decaf? sorry to hear about the lingering pain, but it sounds like you are still doing things, just taking a bit longer to do I guess…

    Liked by 1 person

    • Yes indeed, always a pot of decaf ready too! Yep, I just have to move slower and be more careful how I do things. But hopefully, with therapy, other muscles will soon take over for the torn muscle and things will be more normal. But I will still need to be careful as I could more easily hurt myself again. Thanks for joining our coffee time Jim, have a great Wednesday!

  7. Steve, Please take care, take things slowly and nothing can hurt you. You have got a bunch of old stuff and I love to collect such items, But I can’t do that with my small space. I have seen most of these at my grandmother’s place, she have got lot of collections which were threw away after her death is a pain, These people never know the history behind the old stuff 🤔🙄Enjoy the beautiful warm day Steve, 😉 Don’t say it’s cold again, I wish it is warm. 🙂

    • No, not cold today, only -14C, but going up to -1 with 10cm of snow later today. That means a heavy wet snow which is hard to shovel. Going out now to get some blood tests done and do some shopping. Need more food again. Always happens, I buy food, then I eat it and have to buy it again. Terrible. Better get going or I’ll be late, have a great evening!😃😺🌙🥗🍞🍗🍟
