10 Things That Make Me Happy Tag! #1.

Hello everyone and welcome to a brand new tag for me, the “10 Things That Make Me Happy Tag”!  A long name for a fun sounding tag.  And I was tagged for this one by my very good friend Lydia.  I am sure that most of you already know Lydia, but if you don’t, please check out her fantastic blog, say “hi” and please give her a follow!

For A Smile As Wide As A Country Sunrise

The Rules:

1. List 10 things that make you happy. (Linking to them, sharing pictures, writing poems about them, telling jokes, etc. are all encouraged but not required.)

2. Tag 10 people who make you happy (and notify them of their tag).

It is hard to believe that there are only 2 rules for this tag, I mean, that is amazing!  Nice too.  Now, the first rule states “things”, and I don’t really include people as “things”, nor do I include animals as “things” though if I didn’t include Muffin in this I would probably have very sore feet for a very long time.  Therefore, let’s get started with…

  1. MUFFIN: she definitely makes it on this list as she really does make me very happy all the time.  Um, well, except maybe when she’s “hugging” my feet or using my stomach for a trampoline.😹😸😻
  2. WALKS: I most thoroughly enjoy going out for walks, especially during our snow free season of the year, which includes the 3 mini seasons of spring, summer and fall.  Winter occupies the remaining 6 months or so of the year.🚶‍♂️🌳🚶‍♂️🌞🚶‍♂️
  3. BIRDS: I guess since I’m including Muffin I will also include my feathered friends, the outdoor kind.  Those birds do help a lot to make the winter feel a bit more tolerable.  I figure if they can survive then so can I.😀🦆🦅🐦🐧
  4. OTHER CRITTERS: Such as all the other animals that happen to show up on my deck, except maybe for certain critters like wolves, skunks and bears which come on my deck far too often. Sigh. However, I would like to get a good picture of them, so….😁🐺🦝🐻🦨🐿
  5. PLANTS: The indoor variety.  I like to have some green around the place, especially in the winter, just makes everything feel so much better.  Plus when they produce flowers it’s an added bonus for a cold winter day.  And, they are healthy to have around, they clean the air of toxins that abound in every house.💐
  6. FLOWERS: The outdoor variety.  I love having flowers around, they are beautiful and cheery and always make me feel great.🌸🌺🌷🌹🌼🌻
  7. NATURE: Yes, that includes things I have already mentioned, but also many other things, like rivers, lakes, trees, rocks, mushrooms, butterflies, dragonflies, and…well, you get the picture.🌱🌴🌲🌳🍃🍄🏞🏕⛺🌅
  8. PHOTOGRAPHY: This is a relatively new one for me and it is just now completing 2 years as a hobby for me.  I find this a great way to relax and record my experiences with nature and all my animal friends.  I could probably spend an entire day just taking pictures of things.😃😺📷
  9. LOG HOMES: Even if it’s only a small cabin.  They just give such a warm and cozy feel and just perfect for antiques and handmade items, they all go together perfectly.🏡😁😸
  10. FIREPLACES:  Yep, I love fireplaces too.  They are another thing that give such a warmth and coziness to any home!  Especially a nice rock fireplace.  Definitely something that really makes me happy.🔥😃😺

Well, there we have my list of 10 things that make me happy, but in reality I could make a much longer list but this is a good start.

And now, I tag the following people:

So I don’t know how to count.  Sigh.  I would love to put you all on the list, but just wait, there are more awards and tags coming up!  Thanks again Lydia!  I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless!

Steve and Muffin.

  1. Aww sweet! I sorta just posted something similar—grateful for…
So good to keep these things in mind—especially in these times, eh?
Log cabins and fireplaces make me happy too!😊

    • Thanks Nina!!
Rats, you beat me to it, I was going to do a post like that too. What was that about great minds?
Cool! Not too many people these days like log cabins or fireplaces, but they are sooo nice and cozy!
      Have a great day Nina!😁😸😻

      • Yep. Great minds…
Heating with wood is a lot of work—if you are processing your own firewood. And keeping a clean running stove is also work. I think people like the romantic idea of it more than the actual thing. That’s ok. We stacked up our wood yesterday and Now enjoying the heat—and watching the rain/snow slurpy.
        You take care too, Steve😷

      • We had wood heat when I was a kid, through my teens, it is a lot of work but so worth it though! And at my cottage I used one of those old wood stoves for heating, that was sure great, there is just nothing quite like wood heat, I like it much better than gas heat. But I enjoy the heat no matter what!😀🔥
        Yep, trying for sure.😁😸🌞

  2. I can’t believe that coffee didn’t make your list! I guess I don’t know you as well as I thought I did! 😂😅

When you say fireplaces, I’m guessing that you mean the real ones and not the gas fireplaces right? My dad has 2 real fireplaces in his houses and one gas fireplace which was more recent.

    • Well, I was trying for some different things, I say coffee and 🍟 a lot, however, there is another of these tags coming up soon so I’m sure coffee will make it then!
Yes, real fireplaces that burn wood but even gas fireplaces can be nice if the surround looks like a real fireplace, but most don’t. I love to sit and watch the wood burning away in a stone fireplace. Had one in one house I lived in for a few years, it was just fantastic and gives such a cozy feel to a room.
How’s things with you these days? Are they offering your course online now or is that possible?
Hope you have a wonderful day! Any snow left out there?😃😺🌞☕☕

      • Hi Steve! Yes, I was convinced that coffee would have made the list but it’s good to know that you’re not going to leave it out. Speaking of coffee, I went to claim a free drink at Tim’s and won another free drink. I love it when that happens. For a while I wasn’t getting the roll up the rims since I don’t use the app, but Nick has the app so now I claim his prizes. I rather clog up his phone with a bunch of apps!📱😂

There are 2 very big real fireplaces in the house because my dad always liked the real ones. They are a pain to maintain though, which is why he resorted to a gas fireplace for the master bedroom many years later. The gas fireplace does not heat up the room that much but it does help a little. A childhood friend back in the day (I haven’t talked to her since elementary school) has a wood burning stove in her kitchen and it was so lovely. It takes me back to the pioneer village days. Her house is over 100 years old so it makes sense that they had one of these stoves. Since then, the house has been upgraded.

Things are weird these days. We were told to self-isolate and practice social distancing so that’s what I have been doing. They were offering online courses but they’ve given up and cancelled final exams. I still have online lectures which I still join because I need updates. I’ve barely received any updates outside of these online lectures. I have some homework assignments for the lab and clinical component but it’s nothing compared to actual lab and clinical. Lately, I’ve been playing a lot of video games if anything since internet keeps crashing on my laptop. That’s why I haven’t really been blogging much. As for snow, we still have snow here. The last 2 days have been wonderful in terms of mild temperatures but I haven’t been outside yet today. There’s nothing to do on campus since everything is closed including the library and food places.
