Nature’s Art #42.

Another underwater scene for more art in nature.

Hello everyone!  I hope you are all well and able to enjoy the day a little.  It has been beautiful and sunny most of the day here which made for an enjoyable time walking down to the river.  And of course, sitting on the bench looking out over the water, watching all of the ducks who were not very cooperative today.  For some reason they all seem to like the far side of the river, though 2 were on my side until I arrived.  Then they quickly decided to swim to the other side.  However, they ended up going considerably downstream in that fast current.  Even though the river level has dropped about 8 feet, the current is still very strong out there, swirling around as it does.  Doesn’t really bother the ducks too much, but even they have a hard time swimming across that current.  Except the goldeneyes, they seem to have an easier time of it.  And there was 2 of them down there today, but they only flew past further upstream, out of range of my camera.

And now for some spring pics for our look at art in nature this week…

Tinder polypore1

In the above picture we have the “tinder polypore”.  This is another mushroom, not very colorful but a piece of art anyway.  This one would be from last year.  They are not edible, very tough and woody and once dried like this one they were used at one time to start fires.  They burn slow and steady so were ideal for the purpose.IMG_3667

And in the above pic we have some new greenery poking up from a tiny patch of soil on a large rock outcrop.  I’m not sure what it is, but the way the leaves are arranged makes for an interesting piece of art.IMG_3573

And in the above pic we have a piece of river ice hanging in the air above the rocky shore.  A piece of art that is melting fast now.

Well, there we have it for this week, I hope you have enjoyed this selection.  Have a wonderful day everyone, stay safe and God bless!

  1. Nice write up Steve. Can I ask why you went to Blue print on a Black background? It looks very interesting on my cell almost 3D, but is most difficult to read out doors. So I had to wait until I got back home to read it.😁🙃

    • Must be something wrong with your phone Dusty, nothing has been changed.🤔 I checked on my phone, no problem.😁 I always use blue print though, but always a white background. To be honest, I don’t even know how to change the background color!😂😂😹😹

      • Yeah, mine is hard to read outside too, it tries to compensate for the brightness but goes overboard a little too much in that regard.😳

      • There was an update to my phone last week so I am guessing that’s when it changes the background color. Maybe it’s the WP phone ap that changed. It would be interesting to know if anyone else’s changed also. Oh well no biggie. Thanks

      • I don’t use the WP phone app, didn’t like it. They might have changed it alright, they like to change things sometimes without notifying.😳🤪

      • Yeah, it strange though. The other sites I follow aren’t like yours. They are black type and white background. I don’t know.. it’s a mystety I guess?🤔

      • Amazing. It could only happen to me. I wonder if others are having that problem too. That wouldn’t be good. I could lose readers that way.😬

      • Well, like I said, if you’re outside on your phone yeah, it could prevent readers from seeing your post. Might be worth logging it with WP. Maybe they could change it?

      • I hope I don’t need to deal with them again for awhile. It was bad enough with the comments problem. I will put it out to my readers, see if anyone else is having the problem, then on to WP. Sigh.😕🙄

      • Yeah, it would be worth asking the readers. Then you have some evidence it could cost you followers if they can’t see what’s written. Have gone and looked for yourself on your phone using the WP app.?

      • Yeah, doesn’t show for me, but that’s because it’s my site. That’s why I usually try to check on my browser now and then to make sure things are showing good. I found out before that I was having problems with my title not showing properly on phones so had to change the layout a bit to make it work for phones. It was fine for tablets/laptops/computers, but phones are narrower. Now that I have a phone I can see how others see it, helps. But using the WP app doesn’t help me unfortunately since it recognizes me. Most of my readers read on their phone.

      • True, very good point most do follow on their phones. You’ve put a lot of effort into your site, so I would be disappointed if you lost followers because of a format issue on an app. It just occured to me when I was walking and couldn’t see any writing at all.

  2. Lovely, Hope you had a good time, And by the way did you saw a green coated snow in the middle of the water, I think you captured that in the first picture, yes the one in the middle slightly towards the right, yup that was definitely not placed there by me, not any of those rocks 🤔 I wonder who did that 🙄😳😜😜 Hope the ducks carefully reached the other place, yes I did not helped them, you said that right. Have a nice beautiful day Steve and Muffin 😸🤗✨💐

You should try a nice hot cup of mint tea before bed, or hot milk. With one square of chocolate added.😁😁😁

      • For real, why is that suggestion to me anyway? 🤔 Is that a medicine for saving myself from typo error 🙄 😜 Strange indeed!

      • Hehehe.😄 Oops,😳 had a typo, should have been “Yep, that’s me, strange indeed” I have been doing that a lot lately.😳 Typing too fast.🙄

    • Oh, you mean the rock covered with the dreaded green slime? That stuff is soooooo slippery,😳😳 and thick, and gooey,😬 and makes people fall down🤪 and break all their legs,😲😲 but very beneficial for something.🤔 Yep, the ducks were fine,🦆 I think they like swimming in that current though, it makes them move really fast. But some of the ducks are better swimming across the current than others.
      Enjoy your evening Simon!😁😸🌞🌙

      • Yup the green slime, see forgot the name already, even though I have no idea what do you mean green slime 🤔 Hmm.. u must have enjoyed the view 😉 Ducks are very fast, under the water it hides all its efforts of swimming and shows nothing above water ✨👌A skilled self boat driver? Can I say that🤔 may be, how about forget it. 😜 Thank you Steve, enjoy your day too🤗

      • That’s okay, I don’t know what the green slime is either,😂 I just needed a name for it.😂😹 It’s green, it’s slimey, maybe some kind of plant?🤔 Or algae?🤔 Or just yucky green slime.😳😳 It’s very slippery if you step on it and you go flying and crashing😲 and splashing😲 and break all your legs.😳😳 Best to stay away from it.😬😬
Have a nice evening, try not to think too much or you won’t sleep again. Try drawing instead, very relaxing.😀😺🎨✏🖊🖋🖌

  3. Beautiful works of art in nature my friend! I especially enjoy the young greenery and the ice hovering over the rocky shore. It looks magical just sitting there. 🙂

    • Thank you so much for your kind words Holly! Yes, I like when plants just begin to grow and getting a nice pic of them at that point.
Yes, I am doing well, hope you are too during this time when things are a bit upside down. Hope you are coping well with it.

      • Aw, thank you for asking Steve. We are well but good grief, this ‘break’ from ‘real life’ has been busier than ever! No complaints though. We are incredibly blessed. So many are hurting terribly right now & that breaks my heart. I’m grateful to hear you are well!

Have a beautiful day yourself! 🌺

      • Nothing wrong with being busy, better than nothing to do. I always keep busy with something, never have time to get bored, which is nice.
        Thanks Holly!😃😺
