Hello everyone!  It must be time for a bit more humor.  I think these days it’s time for a lot more humor, so maybe we will have it a bit more often for a while.  I always enjoy a good laugh, or two, or a chuckle, or even an extra smile is worthwhile.  I don’t know if you have ever read or heard any academic papers being read, but they often use similar language.  So here is a list of different phrases and their definitions for you to enjoy.  I hope you can get a chuckle or two from the list.  My apologies to all academics out there, but this is meant as some good fun, not as genuine definitions, though perhaps some….

“IT HAS LONG BEEN KNOWN”…
I didn’t look up the original reference.

“A DEFINITE TREND IS EVIDENT”…
These data are practically meaningless.

“WHILE IT HAS NOT BEEN POSSIBLE TO PROVIDE DEFINITE ANSWERS TO THE QUESTIONS”…
An unsuccessful experiment, but I still hope to get it published.

“THREE OF THE SAMPLES WERE CHOSEN FOR DETAILED STUDY”…
The other results didn’t make any sense.

“TYPICAL RESULTS ARE SHOWN”…

“IN MY EXPERIENCE”…
Once

“IN CASE AFTER CASE”…
Twice

“IN A SERIES OF CASES”…
Thrice

“IT IS BELIEVED THAT”…
I think.

“IT IS GENERALLY BELIEVED THAT”…
A couple of others think so, too.

“CORRECT WITHIN AN ORDER OF MAGNITUDE”…
Wrong.

“ACCORDING TO STATISTICAL ANALYSIS”…
Rumor has it.

“A STATISTICALLY-ORIENTED PROJECTION OF THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THESE FINDINGS”…
A wild guess.

“A CAREFUL ANALYSIS OF OBTAINABLE DATA”…
Three pages of notes were obliterated when I knocked over a glass of soda.

“IT IS CLEAR THAT MUCH ADDITIONAL WORK WILL BE REQUIRED BEFORE A COMPLETE UNDERSTANDING OF THIS PHENOMENON OCCURS”…
I don’t understand it.

“AFTER ADDITIONAL STUDY BY MY COLLEAGUES”…
They don’t understand it either.

“THANKS ARE DUE TO JOE BLOTZ FOR ASSISTANCE WITH THE EXPERIMENT AND TO CINDY ADAMS FOR VALUABLE DISCUSSIONS”…
Mr. Blotz did the work and Ms. Adams explained to me what it meant.

“A HIGHLY SIGNIFICANT AREA FOR EXPLORATORY STUDY”…
A totally useless topic selected by my committee.

“IT IS HOPED THAT THIS STUDY WILL STIMULATE FURTHER INVESTIGATION IN THIS FIELD”…
I quit.

Not a horror story. 🤗 Yes, Bugs Bunny, Elmur Fudd, Daffy duck, Mickey mouse and lot more Memories 😍😍😍 I would love to draw them more. But having something else to do. Let’s see how it comes out ☺️

      • Ha ha 😂😂 May be you needed some references. All my pictures are copied from Google. My imagination sucks, you could clearly see that in my writing 😜😜😂😂 I can’t remember things especially faces. so I am very good and drawing faces of the unknown 😂😜 Come on Steve keep trying, you’ll be very soon close to Picasso ☺️ I know you can do it! Try anything!

  10. I did enjoy it. I know it might not be always true and I am sure this is true many of the times. I myself have done this while writing formal essays. I must say that’s good observation!❤️😂😂
