You killed him, Jenny screamed!  How will we get those jewels now?  You idiot!!  Sorry boss, I didn’t think he would die so easily.  You didn’t think?  That’s an understatement!  Well, start thinking while you still have something to think with!  Now bring in that pilot and find out if he knows anything, he’s our only hope now.  Jenny and the smaller man, named Stanley, went out to the kitchen.  Jenny said to Stanley, if Freddie messes up here, or this pilot knows nothing, then you know what needs to be done.  Stanley nodded and took the pilot into the room with Freddie.  After a bit Freddie comes out and tells Jenny that the pilot is an undercover cop.  Great, says Jenny, that means they know too much about us and without our money, we’re finished.

Rossana and 2 dozen police officers had come quietly and surrounded the house.  Muffin stayed close to Rossana, ready to use her slingshot if necessary.  Muffin was so nervous and upset, full of worry for her human.  All kinds of thoughts going through her little mind, thinking of all the times we had together with our detective business.  Wondering if they were on time, or were they too late?  Poor Muffin, her stomach was in knots, she had never felt this way before, waiting, waiting.  It was that waiting that was so hard, and yet it really was only a few minutes.  But for Muffin it seemed like hours.  What is going on in there?, she thought.  Why do we have to wait so long?  I know, we need to be careful, I know.  She looks up at Rossana.  Rossana could see the fear and worry in Muffin’s eyes.  She gave the signal.

The police rushed the house.  There was 4 ambulances waiting, just in case.  It was all over so quickly, very few shots fired.  They brought out the prisoners, which included Jenny.  Then they called for the ambulance attendants to come in.  They brought out 2 bodies, covered with the white sheets.  Muffin stared briefly and knew which one was me right away.  Everyone’s attention was on the prisoners.  Muffin growled, flipped over on her back, slingshot ready.  She had a clear shot.  Jenny dropped to the ground.  Rossana turned to Muffin who was already on the stretcher with my body.  But Rossana knew and quickly went over and managed to retrieve Muffin’s steel muffin.  No one ever knew what happened to Jenny.

They pulled back the sheet from my head, Muffin lay there with her head rubbing my cheek.  Meow.=My human.  Rossana and the ambulance attendants had tears running down their cheeks as they watched.  Then, very weakly, “my Muffin”.  He’s alive, yelled Rossana!  They quickly put me in the ambulance.  Take Muffin along, said Rossana, she’s keeping him going.  Rossana followed in her car as the ambulance was speeding through the streets.  Meow.=I love you.  All I could say was, “my Muffin”.

I opened my eyes, the room was so nice and bright.  Well, you certainly slept late today Mr. McLeod, said the doctor.  Good news though, you will be discharged this afternoon, you’re on your way home.  Wow, after 3 weeks in the hospital it will be nice to get outside again.  Rossana and Muffin were there to pick me up and the next day Muffin and I were on a plane heading back home.  Meow, meow!=That exciting case for our journal!  Meow, meow.=Maybe next time we take easy case, like looking for lost cat.  Good idea Muffin, I think we are ready for something easier, but let’s take some more time off first and get nicely rested before we tackle another case.  Meow, meow!=I with you on that one!  Maybe we buy next part of play structure?  Meow, meow.=I looking at it with Rossana, very nice, I like it.  If you like it, then we’ll get it for you, once we get home.  Meow!=Okay!

      • Good night Simon! Or is it good morning now? Which means it’s tomorrow today which puts me in yesterday today. But if today is yesterday and tomorrow where does that put me? Since yesterday is Thursday and tomorrow is Saturday, but today is Saturday and Friday is yesterday, but how can Friday and Thursday both be yesterday? So what happened to my today? I’m confused.😵😵😳😳😲😲🤪🤪

      • Let me ask google, I am not understanding the statement of Mr.Steve from Steve’s country, we both are pretty confused about our living timeline, he thinks I am in tomorrow and he believes he live in yesterday, tell me what we need to do? And the Google says…… 🙄 Error! Contact our technical helpline 😂😂

  4. Steve, you outdid yourself! You certainly had many twists and turns in your story. Muffin is the best partner for you! Getting the help there at the right time. The squirrel photo shows how he was keeping watch also. But you do need to consider another line of employment. Almost dying, multiple injuries, and no pay for all your hard work. Superman must be your brother!

    Glad it all came together in the end. You are are recovering and Muffin is doing well. Maybe you should take the suggestion of Muffin and look for a lost cat. LOL But no all of us readers would miss all the suspense and the adventures of you and Muffin. It was a great read and a cliff hanger of a story! Well done!

    • Thanks so much, I truly appreciate your wonderful comment! Give up being a PI? And seeing all these wonderful worldwide locations? Free accommodation, free travel, and don’t forget this time we got paid ahead of time, which means we actually got paid for a change, gave us rent for 3 months and food, plus Muffin’s new addition for her play structure!😂😹 Hmm, looking for a lost cat could lead to all sorts of adventures! But the next one is called…The Country Estate. I won’t get it going for another week though, have to rest a while first.

    • I’m not giving up yet! But Muffin and I might have a more calm case to pursue next time. Maybe look for a lost cat, like Muffin said! The next story won’t be starting for another week though, The Country Estate. Perhaps more relaxing, or perhaps not!🤔😂😹
