For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning to all of you on this fine, sunny Sunday! I hope everyone is feeling well and that your day is going well also. Muffin is very happy now that she can have the door and windows open once again. I don’t blame her, it is nice to have the windows open and get that fresh air inside. My chipmunks, Skamper and Pocket, had disappeared for a number of days, but the warmer weather has brought them back looking for peanuts again.
Last evening there was a hairy woodpecker on the step outside my door pounding away on some peanuts to get the delicious food inside. Seems most everything around here loves peanuts. It is a good source of nutrition for these animals. In this case it was a male looking for some food to take back to his mate who is sitting on eggs right now. Once they have their young, then both will be making numerous trips here to fill up on sunflower seeds to take back to them.
And now, would you like to join me today for another stroll down to the river?
Walking along a sunny path on a warm spring day, as this path winds it’s way through a forest of pine and balsam trees. Also some smaller shrubs of willow, alders and maples which are still waiting for their leaves to appear.
Here and there along the path, wild roses are beginning to get their bright green leaves. In two or three weeks the first flowers should appear. Though everything is late this year so it might take a little longer.
Catkins, like this fuzzy one, have been dropping from the aspen trees spreading their seeds far and wide. Tiny bright leaves are beginning to show on those same aspens glistening in the sunlight as we walk past.
To be continued a little later.
Steve and Muffin.

I took two years of Spanish in 7th and 8th grade… forgot it all, but started this Friday, I’ll be having a weekly class learning Spanish with my tutor for the summer.

Sounds so nice for a northerner like me, but I imagine it would be hot, especially if you don’t like the heat.

Yes , but now this is temporary and above average temperatures for May …Our weather is Mediterranean much better than that of Gulf countries like Qatar , and Dubai…

Man , to tell you the truth , God forgive me , I sometimes feel that I had been born in colder regions like Canada , or Sweden or Norway…
But it is okay , we have 3 or 4 months of hot weather , otherwise, I live in a place of medium altitude and moderate weather …

And I’m just the opposite! Oh well, we just enjoy what we have. Though I have to admit, these long cold winters we get can be hard at times!

That’s okay, it’s easy to get busy with other things, I’m behind in things too.😕 Ours has been extended to June 30th.😳 Although phase 1 of reopening has started. But the number of cases still continues to grow faster in our province than anywhere else in Canada. But it’s mostly in the southern part of the province, up here in the north there isn’t much happening.
I’m doing fine, Muffin and I are enjoying the nice summer weather.😁🌞😸
How are you? Is the weather nice? I hope you have a wonderful day!😃😺😻

Hi Steve, good to see you back with your little friends again 🤗 I have this question, since the spring is delayed this time it will be extended as well 🤔 I’m just wondering if the climate is so kind like us 😉😋 Have a beautiful day ✨💐

When spring is late like this year, it just means a very short spring normally.🤔😲 Sometimes it will continue longer but then we get a short summer.😳🌳 I would rather have a short spring.😁

It is amazing to witness spring arriving as the landscape changes day by day. I visited a park with giant sycamore trees, and their leaves always fill out later than the other trees.

Yes, things do change quite a bit from day to day now. Two days ago when I went for my walk there was no sign of green leaves on the trees and today the green is showing up in the aspen trees. So late this year, but changing fast now. I have never seen a sycamore tree, but have heard they can get large.
Have a wonderful evening and week!
