For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone! It’s another nice spring morning here, though just a bit foggy. We had some rain yesterday, it wasn’t a lot but a nice light rain anyway, making the ground wet and the air fresh. The robins seemed especially excited in their singing this morning, possibly anticipating all those worms that have been brought closer to the surface because of the rain. However, they probably are not thinking that way at all, that’s just my thoughts. I have been using the new WP editor this week, trying to get myself accustomed to it. I don’t really like the idea of blocks. It just slows things down. There are some nice things to it as well though and I guess once I get used to everything it will be fine.
It’s nice to be back on the deck this morning with my coffee and enjoying the birds singing and the squirrels chattering. There are 3 squirrels now and 2 of them are constantly trying to assert their authority over this territory, neither one wanting to give in to the other. They get into some rather wild “discussions” at times. Once they locked themselves into a ball and were rolling around out on the rock hill out back here and they rolled right over the edge at one point, about a 6 foot drop and just continued rolling around on the ground like nothing happened. Somehow they finally broke free of each other and the chasing began. It was like they took turns chasing each other too, quite comical to watch. Finally one decided he had enough and left with the other chasing for quite a distance. I thought perhaps that meant he was going to be the top squirrel after that, but not so, just the next day the loser from the previous day ended up victorious. The third squirrel just tries to stay away from both of them.
And now some rainy day pics from yesterday to share with you…
And we will begin with this lovely pink petunia above still wearing it’s teardrops of joy from the pleasant rain.
And in the above picture we have a very nice geranium. Both are part of my small container garden on my deck this year. I did try this once before, but someone came along at night just when the flowers were looking super nice and dumped them all out over the deck. It was quite a mess and I was only able to salvage a couple geraniums from that.
But I decided to give it another try, surely it won’t happen again. I hope you enjoy these flowers, have a very wonderful Wednesday and God bless!
Steve and Muffin. (Don’t forget to check back a little later for chapter 2 of our new mystery story)

I think the third squirrel is just biding its time…
I am not looking forward to using the new WP editor…

That’s true, and he often comes in and takes the peanuts while the other 2 are chasing each other!
I don’t like this block method they use now, just don’t see the point. Every time you start a new paragraph you start a new block. A bit annoying.ππΉ

I figured that too, he normally gets the most peanuts.

Hello Steve and Muffin,
Funny to watch the squirrels πΏ quarreling for the territory right? π€ͺ They are so cute though…I see them here sometimes when I go to the park but always from distance…I would love to be able to see them closer and maybe touch them…feeding them like you is a dream π
Gorgeous color the flowers! Hopefully nobody will touch them! πΊπΈ
Have a wonderful day both of you! πΊππΏ

Good morning Ribana! Yes, the squirrels can provide some fun entertainment and amazingly they never seem to really hurt each other, it’s mostly chasing, maybe getting a scratch.
It is always a joy having them on my lap, sitting on my shoulder or right on my hand. It doesn’t seem to take much to gain their trust, it usually depends how they have been treated by other people. Chipmunks are easier to tame than the squirrels. I have been able to pet them, rub their tummies, they are cute animals. I have been able to do this with flying squirrels as well, but there doesn’t seem to be any around here, and they only come out at night.
Enjoy your evening!ππΊπββ

Beautiful photos Steve. I’m trying to get used to the new wp too. I’ve never seen my squirrels get into it like that, but they do chase each other away from the seed I put out.

Usually it is just more a game of chase, but these 2 squirrels are very determined to be dominant!
Thank you so much Correne! Have a nice evening!ππΊπ

Yes, they sure are fun!
I don’t like the block idea, makes no sense to me. And I like a certain blue for my text, so I have to pick a custom color, but it disappears for each new paragraph so I have to look for it again. They should have a way to keep it for the whole post. It was very annoying for writing my poem! Each line was a new block!π³π

I tried it once and said nope. Don’t like it. And you’re right, the block format makes no sense what so ever.

Better try again, come June 1 they are switching everyone over to the new editor. It’s too much of a change all at once for me. I’m just not good at trying to figure out all these things. Guess I’m a bit slow. It’s going to take a long time to get used to this for sure.
