For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good Saturday morning everyone! It’s a nice refreshing morning, though a bit chillier than usual. Not too bad though, I have my nice hot cup of coffee to keep me warm. The birds don’t seem to notice the temperature difference however, they just keep on singing like every morning. But for that matter, my routine doesn’t change much in the morning either. Unless it’s raining, then I sit inside and enjoy my coffee with the window open so I can still hear the birds singing. That’s one of the nice things about summer, open windows. Of course, there are many nice things about summer. Maybe I should do a post about that soon. I do like summer best of all. Spring is a close second, but summer is tops on my list. It is such a short season, but so much fun anyway. With a few minor unpleasant things along the way.
Like ticks. And deer flies. And humongous spiders. Did I mention I had one of those big ones in here again? Except it was still small, only 2 inches, which for me is still too big. I will admit, spiders and I do not get along. Fortunately Muffin spotted this one or it might have gotten away. And gotten bigger. Which is scary. Two days ago I spotted one on my deck carrying an egg sack so I promptly squashed that one! Have never seen such big spiders until I moved to this place. There is another version which people often call dock spiders, since they hang around docks a lot, they can get even bigger. These are the land version and normally don’t get larger than 4 inches (10cm). Normally. Scary things. If I find one outside that is full grown I will take a picture of it to show everyone. But not if it’s inside. Inside I go into attack mode first, then worry about pictures.
Both of the above pics are geraniums, as is the featured image at the top, just a couple different colors to enjoy. They are so nice and bright and hummingbirds love them, so they are a good flower to have around if you want to attract these tiny birds. There was two males out here yesterday chasing each other all over the place until one decided to sit down on a branch. The other one then went crazy trying to get the other to fly again. Finally he gave up and sat down too. Then the other one flew away. Have a wonderful day and God bless!

I have never been a fan of sliders either. At least the few I see here are nothing compared with your monster spiders. Have a great week!

Having lived in this part of the country nearly all my life I had never seen such large spiders until moving to this apartment 4 years ago. Then I discovered researching them that they are quite common here. Unfortunately!
Thanks Richard, you as well!
