For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone! Happy Father’s Day to all you fathers out there! And if you have a father, make sure you get in touch with him today, maybe do something nice for, or perhaps with, him today. It is a rather wet morning here once again, but mild anyway. However, it was raining a bit too much for sitting outside this morning, so today I sit inside with the window open so I can listen to all the birds who are not singing because it’s raining too much. Well, the robin was still singing, didn’t hear any smaller birds however. But the rain has stopped momentarily so the birds have really opened up with a loud chorus of different songs. Even the sun has found a small open spot in the clouds and is now shining brightly on the trees. Looks so very nice. There was thunder throughout the night and early this morning, so Muffin was not at all happy. But she has finally come out and eaten her breakfast and is now enjoying her morning nap.
The catbird is around with his mewing which even attracts Muffin’s attention. It would be nice to get a picture of that one, but he only rarely comes out in the open, but I have seen it 3 times this year so far, so perhaps it will happen yet. The sky has cleared completely now, the sun is warm and inviting, the birds are still singing, the squirrels are fighting. And they really do fight those little critters. There are 3 of them again, a new squirrel joined the group yesterday and seems to be a good match for Woody, though I’m sure Woody doesn’t like that so much. Poor Gopher gets chased by both of them since she is the smallest of the 3. The 3 chipmunks try to get in and pick up some peanuts in between the squirrels chasing each other. But twice Woody has also chased the chipmunks. Two baby chipmunks showed up yesterday as well, but they haven’t yet learned about the peanuts. I’m sure they will soon. The top pic is my little chipmunk friend Skamper.
In the above pic is Woody who must have been tired that day, his eyes gradually closed as he was eating and he actually just sat there motionless for a moment, then suddenly woke up and continued eating.
And in this last pic, above, is Mama D. She is showing up a bit more often these days, but just by herself, she didn’t have a baby this year. I was really hoping she would so I could get a pic of a small fawn. Oh well, didn’t happen this year. I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless!
Steve and Muffin.
Love the pics… so nice!

Hey, that’s nice you can spend the day with your parents,π build those memories Simon!π We have been getting thunderstorms all day, but not severe ones, just smaller ones that last 15 to 30 minutes, then about an hour of sunshine and another one comes along. It feels nice when the sun is shining anyway.π It’s a great day, hope yours was too!ππΊπββπ¬

It’s amazing what those little guys can put in their cheeks! We’re getting thunderstorms all day so far, just smaller ones though, nothing serious, though it has knocked out our internet a couple times. Enjoy your day Dusty!ππΊπΏπΏπ₯π₯

We have been getting more rain than normal and June is normally our wettest month anyway! We could use some dry weather for a while.

I hope it dries out a bit for you. Hopefully it will balance itself out over the rest of the summer.

We are actually supposed to have a wetter than normal summer this year, kind of a continuation of last fall. The last 2 summers were drier than normal so guess we’re due for a wet year, unfortunately.

They only need it big enough for 6 chipmunks…and 550 gallons of peanuts.

That’s interesting, goldfinches are normally only around in spring and summer here. Except last winter when we had so many which was a first for me.ππΊπββ
