Daily Pics #213.

Good morning everyone! It’s another one of those beautiful summer mornings, warmer than the last few mornings which is nice. But that is about to change as it cools off a bit again tonight. And it looks like our nights will stay that way from now on. But that is normal anyway. After all, today is the last day of July and nights are always cooler in August even though the days can still be warm. There was more birds out here singing this morning, the red eyed vireo was really active in his singing, so was a black-throated green warbler and a blackburnian warbler. plus a magnolia warbler was in the group as well, first time hearing this one around the house. But the warblers are starting to flock together and move around a lot more now. Most of our warblers actually head south in August, along with many other birds. Things start getting quiet in August as our birds leave us.

But I noticed yesterday while out for my walk that chickadees and nuthatches were also flocking and were around in very good numbers. However, it was like that last year too and yet we had fewer of these birds at the feeders last winter. That was a very odd winter. I need to get things ready for this winter. I have to raise my bird feeders a bit higher to make them legal. Before I get hit with that $500 fine. I have already had the warning, next time comes the fine. So sad. Feeding birds used to be such a simple thing. Now feeders need to be 10 feet (3meters) off the ground. Now I’m trying to figure out how best to do this. So I can still reach the feeders. Without falling 10 feet to the ground. Which would not be good for my health. Oh well, I need to get it done soon while the weather is still nice.

Anyway, for our pics today, the featured image at the top is another one of my geraniums, I like the bi-color effect of this one. And the photo below is a double daylily, which is not that common it seems, most are singles. I’m glad that some of them have survived, my landlord has been ripping them out this year, and will be doing the rest of them soon. So I’m trying to get pics of them at different angles and light conditions while they are still around.

I hope you all have a wonderful and bright Friday! God bless!

Steve and Muffin.

    • Hmm, having trouble seeing comments this morning, have to go looking for them again. Sigh.
Yes, a nice day today, then it cools off for the weekend, then a bit warmer for the next week or so, nice weather really for late summer.
      Have a great day!πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ΊπŸŒžβ˜•β˜•

      • Here , in middle latitude places , we do not feel much difference in weather between August and July despite days becoming shorter in length during August but up in the northren places , I think the differenxe gets more obvious I find …

      • Yes, here in the north there is a noticeable difference once we get into August, though days can be nice and warm, the nights are cool. And other changes begin also to change into autumn usually by mid to late August.

  1. What? What is with the bird feeders being so high? Good grief I can see a lot of accidents coming from this. Or just not feeding the birds for fear of an accident.

    • Yes, the town passed a bylaw so feeders must be 10 feet high now. It’s to keep deer from jumping onto the feeders and eating the bird food. I would like to see that. I have never seen a deer do that. But we have a lot of deer in town and they hope this will force the deer to leave. They don’t seem to realize the deer are here because it’s safe and there is abundant food, in the form of grass (their favorite) and shrubs/flowers.

    • I would prefer to have them a bit lower, makes it easier to put food on them, but I’ll work it out somehow.😁😸
Glad you enjoyed it Suni, I hope you have a great weekend as well!πŸ˜ƒπŸ˜ΊπŸŒžβ˜•β˜•

  3. Hey,
I haven’t heard any birds lately.
But I have been enjoying the morning walks. I needed to get out more.

Love the flower, the color reminds me of Summer.
    Hi Muffin!

    • Hi Tiffany! Morning walks are definitely a good thing! Just getting out helps a lot even if we don’t see a lot of wildlife or flowers. Not many people around our neighborhood grow flowers which is too bad.
Thanks Tiffany, hope you have a wonderful weekend!πŸ˜πŸŒžπŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈπŸŒ³

    • The rules are kind of funny.πŸ˜„ It’s all to keep deer from jumping onto the bird feeder and eating the seeds.πŸ€”πŸ™„ I said I would like to see a deer do that and get a picture of it!😜πŸ€ͺ Somehow I don’t think it would happen.πŸ˜‚ But that’s the way it goes, I’ll get it done, and hopefully not fall down 10 feet, that would hurt.πŸ˜³πŸ˜²πŸ™„

  6. This is the first time I have heard of it bird feeder fine. Sounds like the mask trash. My apologies if you decide to wear. one. And resolve with the rules. I have a serious skin allergy that nothing like cloth, paper, touch my face. I also have to have circulation of air to breath. I have been approached, not by law, but by people where I attend meetings . Laws and ordinance are in a separate category.I Like the posts you write

    • There is nothing trash about wearing masks, they should be worn by everyone, except those few who can’t for health reasons, but those people should stay home for their own safety and well as the safety of others. Masks are finally being made mandatory here, by law, I wish it had been done months ago, perhaps then I might not have gotten this Covid-19 virus. It’s no fun, it’s terrible, it’s painful, it kills, we should do everything we can to stop it. Wearing a mask is such a minor thing I don’t understand why people won’t wear one (except those few who can’t for health reasons). It just shows they don’t care about other people which is sad. By the way, my post had nothing to do with masks. Enough said on the subject.
      Thank you Cathy.
