For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone on this cool August day! It looks like we might get a day or two of summer temps again this week, before cooling off once more. The days have gotten so short now. The leaves are turning yellow on the birch and maple trees. Such a sudden difference once we hit the middle of August. Things just change fast. But the rain we had on Friday made a big difference on the forest fires. The one threatening that town received nearly 4 inches (90mm) of rain so it is now classed as “being held”, meaning it’s mostly out, but still has hot spots. There is a larger fire a bit further north and east that didn’t get much rain so it is still burning out of control, it’s around 14,000 acres. It’s about 31 miles (52km) from the nearest community. Here the sun shines, the ground is wet, it is windy and cool.
The little birds are busy at the feeders. Sir George, Lady Pearl and Sir Henry have all been here a couple of times this morning. Baxter and Betty with one of their young ones have been here off and on all morning. I wasn’t here for a while this morning, Monday has become my day to get out shopping each week. And I like to go early before the stores get busy. I don’t really like shopping, I also don’t like crowded stores. I like to go in and out as quickly as possible. That’s just me, I’m different. Jasper was coming for a peanut this morning, I had just put out a new batch, and I stepped on part of a peanut shell. Did it make a loud cracking sound. Poor Jasper. He flew off the deck and into the raspberry bushes below! When he came back up he was scratching himself quite a bit. It’s those prickles. I don’t think he was too happy. Oh well.
For our pics today we have some petunias to enjoy. They are nice and bright, great for attracting hummingbirds. I hope you all have a Happy Monday and God bless!

i have read when men go shopping, they have a plan and know what they want and rarely wander around. we (men) shop with a purpose. women usually dont do shopping this way. btw…this week the temps will be in the triple digits here, again. π¦

I’m certainly like that, I rarely wander around looking at things, I pick up what I want and get out!π Hmm, right now (2pm) it’s all the way up to 66F. But it should hit 68F.π³

Most men are like that. My husband is an exception. He loves window shopping at malls! He often drags me to malls and takes me into all of the stores, browsing every aisle. We even went to the mall today. Iβm different – I go there, get what I need, and get out. Window shopping is a waste of my time.

Women care more about fashion and design . Usually , women tend to be more detailed oriented especially in fashion .

Not all women though. Iβm female (29 years old) and I donβt give a π© about fashion and design. What I care about is comfort and functionality. Yes, Iβm very detailed oriented but that has nothing to do with fashion. Thereβs lots of women who donβt care about fashion at all.

This is a general comparison that is relatively true but does not apply to all people and all cases…

When I worked in the garden nursery at Walmart, they got large batches of petunias. It seemed to be one of the more popular varieties.
Confession: During my shifts, I would pick the ripe strawberries off of the plants and eat them when nobody was looking! This was in Saskatchewan where we got away with more stuff.

Yep, can’t beat petunias for all summer color!ππΈπΊ
Hmm, no wonder they never come with ripe strawberries!ππΉ

I left the semi-ripe and unripe ones. If I didnβt eat the ripe ones, they would fall off the plant and then nobody would be able to enjoy them. I might as well enjoy them! They were wild strawberries and really tasty! πOne day Nick came to visit me while I was working and I saw him eat the strawberries too, so both of us are guilty lol

Hmm, guess I never get to the plants soon enough!π€ That’s true, why let them go to waste? I agree fully! Wild strawberries are much tastier than the others for sure!π Hope you have a great day Hilary!ππΊπ
