For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning to all of you on this bright and sunny Tuesday! That wild turkey is back, sitting in the maple tree out behind the house here singing away. Okay, maybe it doesn’t really sound like singing, but to him it is singing. And he is certainly loud. First time I have heard him calling like that. It was just kind of “clucks” before. I’m sure if there was any other turkeys in the area they would hear him quite easily. But he better be more careful. With Thanksgiving only a month away he just might end up on someone’s table. It isn’t legal to hunt turkeys here, but I’m sure that wouldn’t stop some people. It’s not legal to hunt deer in town either, but people still do it. If he survives perhaps he will come to my bird feeder this winter. Now that would make a great picture to see that big bird on my feeder!
Not much happening with Jasper and the chipmunks this morning. Jasper seemed more interested in hauling the peanuts away this morning rather than chasing the chipmunks. He did kind of chase them a couple times, but nothing major like other days. Maybe he finally got the idea that chasing the chipmunks meant getting few peanuts. He did get a lot more peanuts this morning. But the chipmunks still did good too. They would hide behind the flower pots and when Jasper left they would come and get some quickly and leave before Jasper returned. The blue jays were here and busy this morning which is certainly nice to see. Baxter and Betty are back, so are Big Blue and Barbara. Then there’s Bernie, a young blue jay from this year. Plus a couple of others. They are getting braver all the time. Sir Charles was here this morning for his breakfast. But I didn’t see any hummingbirds this morning. Guess they decided to leave yesterday. Smart birds, colder weather is coming fast.
The featured image today is the ageratum, a wonderful little garden flower. And the pic just above is an impatiens after a rain shower. Have a wonderful day everyone and God bless!

Hey, you’re third Simon!π₯³ Getting better. Yep, poor turkey, he will have to learn to keep quiet, or end up in the oven!

is it possible Jasper finally learned his lesson?

Maybe, he was like this all day, except once he was really running after Pocket and didn’t stop in time at the edge of the deck and over he went with a not so graceful landing in the raspberry patch!

he seems to have gotten pretty familiar with that raspberry patch!

Greetings Steve! I am hearing fewer and fewer birds at one of the nature parks I frequently walk. The silence takes some adjustment, but in a several weeks some birds will begin to bunch up in anticipation of changing seasons.

Hi Richard! Yes, it is so quiet walking down to the river now. Not even many chickadees along there this year, last year there was so many. But at least my feeders are still quite busy. And soon some of our northern birds will be coming in.
