20/20 Investigations, Inc., Part 2, The Chase! Chapter 9.

I took the first watch until midnight, all remained nice and quiet, just perfect. No noise outside except crickets and an owl hooting in the distance. Sounded so peaceful, but I know that will change sooner or later. Meow.=I ready to take over watching now. Good timing Mr. Cat, Muffin will be here at 3, hopefully, she seemed quite tired. Meow.=That okay, I tell her sleep long as she want, I can stay awake. Hmm, Mr. Cat is a perfect match for Muffin, there is definitely love between those two. Meow.=You need to think more about human Karin, not want to lose her, she so very nice. I look at Mr. Cat. Meow.=I think there love between you two. Hmm, amazing cat. I lay down on one of the beds and was asleep right away.

But that sleep was short and Mr. Cat was waking me up. It’s 3:45am. Meow.=Human people are here, lots of them. I did not want to hear that, but I quickly got up to take a look. There’s 12 of them, all on motorcycles! I would say we’re in trouble, I didn’t think Ma would send so many. But that merchandise is worth a lot. Right now I would say it’s worth their lives. I think our best defense is to stay out of sight. I go and wake up Karin and Muffin. They’re here, I said quietly, get your gun ready but don’t use it unless absolutely necessary. If we just stay here they will find us eventually, she said. She seemed a lot more calm this morning, that’s good, less chance of making a mistake. We won’t stay here, I said, we will try to stay a step or two behind them.

Karin looked at me with her usual puzzled look. When they search an area, then we will move to that area, I explained. Since they have already searched it they won’t be back to search again until they have gone over the whole town, so we’ll be safe for awhile. That will give us a bit more time to think of our next move. Great idea, said Karin. Meow.=Oh, they doing that human thing again. Meow, meow.=It called kissing. Meow.=Oh, right, forgot the name of it. Just in case something happens to us, said Karin. Nothing will happen to us, we’ll get out of this alive, I said with as much confidence as I could. I found this last night, I continued, it’s a map of the town and shows what each building is used for. As a last resort we will head to the mine, there are 3 entrances, one is far off to this side and heads in the direction we want to go anyway. Providing there hasn’t been any cave-ins at least, and providing they don’t know about the other entrances.

It looks like they are surrounding the town so we can’t escape easily, and there are 4 of them checking the buildings. Looks like they have finished looking through the old hotel. I’m getting very nervous again Steve, said Karin, maybe we could just shoot our way out, there’s only 4 of them to deal with now. Just one shot would bring them all running together, I reminded her, then we would be finished for sure. Yeah, guess you’re right, she sighed. I’m nervous, but still hungry, it would be so nice to have a quiet breakfast of bacon and waffles with some hot coffee. Meow, meow.=There she go, talking about food again, and with all these mice around too. Meow.=Yep, good tasting country mice too. Meow, meow.=And last time she have waffles and bacon she waste on ground. Meow.=Yep, very strange behavior. They both giggled.

Every time I hear them giggling I know they’re talking about me, said Karin. That’s only because they like you so much, I said. Karin smiled. I think they are so cute, she admitted. Both cats come over and give her a hug. Now that’s nice to see, I said. Hold it, there’s someone out there, I said quietly. The cats are ready for action with their slingshots and head out to look around the house. Poor Karin is shaking. The cats come running back. Meow, meow.=Men coming in front door, one at back door. That doesn’t leave much choice. We pick up our stuff and stare, someone is outside our bedroom door…

Oh my! the chase is truly on! 😳 now, who is chasing? who sent these 12 men, if ma is not worth sending these many then who else? are you surrounded by the 12 men or getting a help at right time 🤔 is that Harvey 🙄 or is he the one that is standing out with a gun 😳🧐 let’s see. Plus the story is interesting with our two cats having the cute conversations and you and Karin, lovely pair ofcourse 😻😍. Fun and fast write up ✨✍️ excellent read… keep up .. looking forward for more chases 😍😍.

    • Ma sent the men alright,😠 she wants her merchandise back or her life won’t be worth anything when the trustees show up, whoever they are.🤔🙄 Harvey was shot and drifted down the river, dead.😬 Fortunately Karin👱‍♀️ shot the other guy who shot Harvey or I would have been floating down the river too!🤪 Yep, the chase isn’t over yet, lots more to come!😳👱‍♀️🙀🙀🕵️‍♂️🕵️‍♀️

      • Actually most of that information is in chapter 8.😀 I think I should post this story more often,🤔 it’s a bit more complicated than the others.🤪🙀 There will be a bonus chapter today,😁 might be a bit shorter though. I have ideas, and that’s bad.🤪😂😹

      • No that’s not it, some readers like me with short of memory power 🙄 will face such issues and forger whats been said already 😒 I jus need to find sometime to read the parts again, so that I’ll be on the page ☺️🤗

    • Not much to say about the houses yet, but we’re not finished with this ghost town.😲🤪👻 Castles? I never mentioned castles.🤔🤔

      • You mean the pics, yes those houses are from my town,🙂 I just wanted some house pics to go along with the story,🤪 but they are just houses here. And the big one is our old hotel, no longer used and falling apart and I mentioned a hotel in the story.😳 I should have put something under the photos though, sorry about that.😬😕 I usually do put captions under the pics but I was in a hurry yesterday.🙄😕
