Daily Pics #274. Muffin and Jasper.

Good morning everyone and Happy Thanksgiving Day! Yes, today is Thanksgiving Day here in Canada though it seems that most people have their Thanksgiving dinners on Sunday. I was going to do my Thanksgiving post yesterday, but due to technical difficulties, meaning I wasn’t feeling well, I decided to postpone that until today. So it will be coming out a little later, I hope. What was that Muffin? Oh. She said if I don’t get the post done today she will give me a Thanksgiving bite on each foot.😼 Muffin always knows how to give just the right inspiration!😹 It’s cloudy, cool and wet this morning. We had some rain overnight and one thunderstorm hit us last evening. Muffin wasn’t too happy about that. She was sleeping so peacefully on my lap, even with thunder in the distance. Until there was a big boom. That woke her up quickly. I tried to convince her she was safe with me. That worked. For about 5 seconds. Then another large boom and she disappeared right before my eyes. Amazing how fast she can move sometimes.

Speaking of fast. I was on the deck for awhile yesterday afternoon. It was quiet, except for the sparrows, juncos and evening grosbeaks. I put out some peanuts but no one came along. Finally Jasper came and looked all around the deck, in the boxes, around my feet. “Looking for the chipmunks?” He looked at me. “I haven’t seen Coffee today”. He kept looking at me. He actually looked sort of sad. “There’s peanuts over there”. He looked, but didn’t seem to be in a hurry. But he went over, sniffed around the peanuts, then he took one and ran off with it. I think he’s going to miss those chipmunks. How is he going to get his exercise? He doesn’t like the blue jays, they can fly, he can’t, though he has tried many times. But unfortunately the only flying he does is straight down. Jasper came back for one more peanut, then I didn’t see him anymore, even though there was lots of peanuts left. That’s just not like him. I think it will be a long winter for poor Jasper. I hope little Coffee has enough food.

Adult, behind, and immature bald eagle.
Male, front, and female “evening grosbeak”.

Our featured image shows more of our fall colors, nice bright yellow. Not many leaves left on the trees now. Then in the two pics above we are back with the bald eagles that were at that deer carcass the other day. This time we have an adult, at the back, and an immature, at the front. The immature was likely the offspring of that adult since he kept going over to the adult. It takes 5 years before the young eagles get full adult plumage. The next pic shows a male and female evening grosbeak, the male is in front. I hope you all have a marvelous Monday (he mean meowvelous Monday!😸), and God bless!

  1. Oh… I hope it’s just because of the changing season. I hope you’re all better now.

Jasper is so sweet. And Coffee too. The way you wrote about them really made me feel the chills of the season heading toward winter.

  2. How much colder is the climate where you live . Where I live , some trees have green leaves still but some have had leaves turn somehow yellowish but they still have leaves because the climate in Lebanon is warmer …

    • The lake here is quite large and it does give us a somewhat milder climate, which is why winter here arrives the beginning of November usually, though it can arrive the beginning of October some years. It is 9C today but by Wednesday the daytime high temp will be only 3 or 4 with night temps of -4C. It will stay about that way until winter arrives.

      • Same here πŸ˜‚ it lasts until December πŸ€” I think. but the weather here is totally unpredictable πŸ™„ now sunshines instead of raining ☺️ 50% of the entire year rainfall falls in this season North east monsoon should bring us more rains. Not much until now. Let’s hope for more πŸ˜‰ else this year will be declared as drought year πŸ˜„. U still awake πŸ˜‰ Have a peaceful night πŸ€—

      • Hi Simon!πŸ™‹β€β™‚οΈπŸŒž I think I had signed off before your comment came.πŸ€” I was up late, too much medication too late in the evening and it keeps me awake when I do that.πŸ˜›πŸ™„πŸ˜΅πŸ˜’ Sometimes it has to be done though. I thought this was your rainy season, but I couldn’t remember! I should mark that on my calendar. Oops, that won’t work because I don’t keep my old calendars. I could mark it on the calendar on my laptop or my phone, I think, except I don’t know how. Why do they make things so complicated? Of course it could just be me that makes it complicated when it really is simple but I think it’s complicated so that makes it complicated because I make it complicated when I should just make it simple by reading directions but directions are so complicated that I get mixed up so I’ll just have to, um, to, um, what was I talking about again?πŸ€”πŸ™„πŸ˜Ή Oh well, Have a great day Simon, or night I should say!πŸ˜πŸ˜΄πŸŒ™

Too much medication 😳 if it’s for your health, is okay. we can compromise sleeping in the morning πŸ˜‰ but don’t miss the medications. Stay safe βœ¨πŸ€— Have a peaceful night πŸ₯°
