Coffee At Steve’s Country #23.

Good morning everyone on this beautiful Saturday! The coffee, and tea, are ready for you, so as usual, please help yourself and relax with us today. It’s milder this morning at 8F (-13C), feels quite a bit nicer after a couple of days with real cold. And we might even get a couple inches (5cm) of snow today, though I doubt it, we never seem to get the amount they forecast this winter. Their snow forecasting has been way off this winter for some reason, usually the snow forecasts are much closer. I’m not complaining about that, less snow is easier to shovel. But we do need the snow or it will be a very dry start to spring, and that’s not a good thing. Oh well, what happens, happens. Lots of chickadees, redpolls and evening grosbeaks around this morning, but no blue jays yet and Jasper hasn’t been here either.

Just a small part of Percy Lake.

Well, the blue jays have finally arrived, a bit later than usual this morning. And the nasty rock doves have also arrived and scared away the evening grosbeaks. So I have had to go out a couple of times now to scare the doves away. It doesn’t help that my neighbor has started feeding these birds, but he doesn’t put out much food, so when the doves have finished that then they come over here for more. The male downy woodpecker was just here and had his breakfast. There appears to only be the one this winter which is kind of odd. Usually there is at least a pair of them, but perhaps something happened to his mate. There is a red-breasted nuthatch pounding away at the suet right now, enjoying his breakfast and I see that Jasper is finally on his way over here to start collecting his peanuts for the day. But he will eat a few before he does that.

Again, just a small part of Richard Lake. I used to spend quite a bit of time at this lake.

Oh, a nice white-breasted nuthatch has arrived now as well. Oddly, I have never seen one of these birds go after the suet, only sunflower seeds. The red-breasted nuthatch seems to eat mostly suet, with some sunflower seeds tossed in throughout the day. There are some lazy type snowflakes floating down from the clouds above, not very many though. There are at least 8 blue jays here this morning, that beautiful blue color is certainly a welcome addition to the winter landscape. And since this is Saturday, our pics today are landscape, or scenery, pictures to enjoy. And today the pics are from a couple lakes east of town about a half hour drive. I hope you have a wonderful weekend everyone and God bless!

      • What do you know, I actually was thinking of trying spikes, but then the other birds might try sitting there too, so that wouldn’t work good. I even tried dancing on the deck with no jacket, hat, gloves or shoes,πŸ€ͺπŸ˜³πŸ˜³πŸ™„ and that scared them temporarily, but then they came back. Sigh. Other than those birds it was a good Saturday. Boring? You get bored?😳 Oh my.πŸ˜› I never get bored,πŸ€ͺ and that’s the truth.😁 Ask Nisha to pour water on your head,🧊 then you won’t be bored🀯 and she will get a good laugh.πŸ˜‚πŸ˜Ή

      • Yep, I’m already throwing things at them and getting very accurate too,πŸ˜‚ but it does scare other birds too,😬 but it seems to be working.πŸ˜› I like the water gun idea though, I must look into that,πŸ˜ƒπŸ”« they will soon be bringing spring toys out, they start early here why I don’t know. It might make some ice on the deck though, but that’s a minor detail. I think. I must try that one though, just need to get a water gun!πŸ˜πŸ”«

    • Yes, these are all nice lakes, and I have been on nearly all of them. So much beauty to see around the lakes. Jasper was here and Chase, the other squirrel, was here also when Jasper wasn’t.πŸ˜€πŸ˜Ίβ˜•β˜•πŸŒžπŸ›Άβ›΅
