For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone! Coffee is ready, fill your cup, sit back and relax for a few minutes with Muffin and I. It’s a beautiful sunny morning, but windy and cold today. Hopefully we will be back to above freezing temps by Saturday. Jasper was here again so I sat with him for awhile to talk. We ended up talking about spring. “Almost spring Jasper”, I said.
Loud chip. “Oh, yes, the striped mice will be back soon, they’re called chipmunks. But just think, things will begin to grow, flowers will bloom.”
Chip. “Oh, you were stung by a bee when you went to say hi to one last year? It’s best to stay away from bees. But the snow will soon be gone and everything comes to life again.” Loud chip. “Oh, the mosquitoes bite your ears? That can be a problem I guess. But soon the leaves will be coming out on the trees making everything nice and green once again.”
Chip. “Oh, yes, I guess it would make it hard to see very far.” Chip. “You like to look out over your territory to see if other squirrels are coming around? I guess it is easier this time of year to do that. And yes, it is hard to see those chipmunks once everything begins to grow, that’s a good point I guess. But the weather is so much nicer and warmer in the summer.”
Loud chip. “Oh, it gets too hot to run around and play? Well, yes, that can be a problem too. But we don’t get that many hot days this far north.” Chip. “Oh, we still get too many hot days and you don’t like hot days. Oh my, you’re having a rough time.
Having problems at home?” Loud chip. “Oh, Sylvie said it would soon be time for one of you to leave the territory, either you go or she goes. What did you say?” Chip. “Oh, you offered to help her pack? That probably wasn’t the best thing to say.” Chip. “That’s when she pushed you off that high branch over there? Long drop.” Chip. “Oh, you have to go now and pack? Have a nice time.” He looks at me and off he goes. Not often you get to hear a squirrel sigh. I’m sure they will work out something. I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless!

They are related, both are rodents. Speaking of rodents, last time I was at the river I saw a mink. Tried for pics but he was just passing by the area and wouldn’t sit still except once behind a fallen tree. Sigh.ππ·π¬

Yep, that’s why I was so surprised to see it. He seemed to be quite happy too. Jumped in the water a couple times and caught himself a minnow.

Hi Steve! Jasper is so cute. Your βconversationβ with him was hilarious! π. Coffee is cute as well. Love the pics, especially the leaves and buds on the apple π tree. Consistent warm weather is coming soon for all of us. π. We have a blizzard like conditions forecasted for this weekend with an expected 12-18 inches of βοΈ. Looking at your pics helps give us all hope. Lol
Have a nice day, Steve and Muffin! πβοΈπ

That’s a lot of snow!π² And here I thought you lived in the warm south! We’re supposed to be in the 50’s on Saturday here and sunshine.π I hope that storm stays south of us! Yep, spring will be here to stay at some point. This is very early for us, only the second time I can remember this happening.π€
Thanks Beverly, have a wonderful, relaxing evening!ππΊββπ

I know, right? π². Now the winter warning alert is showing a prediction of 10-20 inches! βοΈ βοΈβοΈβοΈβοΈ No, I am in the Rocky Mountain area…beautiful Colorado Springs, Colorado. The mountains will be so pretty with all that snow. π. Wow, Saturday will be nice for you! Yes, I hope the storm does stay south of you. Nice, although unusual (2nd time). Weather patterns are off the normal charts all over…in your instance, that is good. Praying you heal quickly to enjoy your beautiful and relaxing walks again very soon.
Thanks Steve, you and Muffin have a wonderful, relaxing evening as well! πβοΈπ

Oh my, that’s too much, but we often get storms like that in March, and they come from your area too! I don’t know what I would do with all that snow though, I’m not even supposed to shovel snow anymore. Last time we had an early spring was 2012. But generally for us our winters have been getting colder and longer since about 2000. Thanks for praying Beverly, there is improvement but I will be waiting awhile yet before any walks to the river.
Thank you!ππΈπ

Yes, you probably heard about that Bomb Cyclone we had 2 years ago. I am sure some of it traveled to your area. My neighborβs (across the street) huge tree fell over on two vehicles of their next door neighbor. One of the vehicles was completely totaled out. I know, shoveling that much snow is hard. My neighbors on both sides are such a blessing. They get out early with their snow blowers and do my sidewalk and typically, my driveway.
Wow, 2012 and the winters getting more frigid since the 2000. Hummmm, that, the Bomb Cyclone, Texas iced over, losing power, the storms in New York, New Jersey, etc…enough said. π€
Youβre welcome, glad you are improving. It is understandable to delay the walks. I know that pain level from the fall was unbearable. I fell a week ago on ice in my driveway and it hurt me, I can only imagine your pain level with your back condition. Take care, take it slow. ππ

Actually we were basically unaffected by that one, it hit a little further west in our neighbor province of Manitoba. Most storms the last few years seem to go west and then north of us or they stay in MN. I don’t mind though. Nice neighbors! You actually seem to get more storms in the US than we get up this way now. Apparently our winters have returned to the cold winters experienced back in the period 1945 to 1975. Then they got milder and shorter until the 1990s, now back to cold. Oh well.
Yep, that pain was no fun, still isn’t, but another few days and I should be back to normal pain again.ππΊπ

So glad you were not affected by that storm. It was so bad. A huge branch came down in the my back yard, fortunately it missed the power line. I made the mistake of going into my office and stayed an hour and then they shut down the office. I got lost going home taking detours to avoid hills, backups and treacherous areas. I could not see hardly anything in front of me. I did not want to get stranded so I forced it, but it took me so long to get home. A friend was stranded for 10 hours trying to get back from Denver. Her husband was frantic….it was not something any of us wanted to repeat. Yes, so glad you do not get these storms. The blizzard here in 1977 had the whole city shut down for a week. I heard the 1997 storm was bad from my mother, family and friends. I was in California at that time.
Interesting on the changes in your weather patterns. That intensity of cold is hard on the body. As you said, oh well, we endure and look at the beauty in it. You really help the critters there during the difficult season.
That is good to hear on your recovery progress, not on returning to the normal pain.. πππ

Wow, you had quite a time! We used to get the storms from your area, every year it seemed, that’s where most of our snow came from until the end of the 1990s, then things started to change and the storms either went to the west and then north, or stayed to the south. Now it seems most of our snow comes directly from the west, so we don’t get such big storms now, most of the time anyway. This winter I think it was all those volcanoes last year that affected our winter, that has happened before for us, usually it gives us a very mild winter and sometimes it means very little snow, like this winter, other times it will mean more snow than normal. Amazing how those south pacific volcanoes can affect the weather patterns up here, but they do. I notice this year though it’s being blamed on climate change instead of the volcanoes.
Well, I’ve been fighting this pain now for 30 years, it never goes away 24 hours a day. Even the painkillers don’t take it away, but they make it livable. And I thank God for that.
Have a wonderful day Beverly!ππΈββπ

Yes, it was crazy.βοΈβοΈβοΈ Could not believe it! Oh well..π. Wow, That is so so interesting on how volcanoes can affect the weather patterns in your area. I did not know that, thanks! π And now they believe climate change is the culprit…interesting.
That is a long time to be dealing with daily pain that cannot be completely resolved. So sorry…praying for you. Yes, thank God the pain killers make it livable. He takes care of us so wonderfully.
Thank you, have a wonderful day as well Steve! πβοΈπ

Yes, it is a long time for pain, but God gives the strength needed day by day. Although painkillers can have their problems too, I’m still thankful for them, God provides even in this.ππΊ
They are moving us into the red for Covid restrictions again, it’s getting worse in our area, more UK variants have been found here.π³ I will need to be careful.π¬
