Coffee At Steve’s Country #75.

Good morning! Coffee is ready, just help yourself, Muffin has all the cups lined up in two neat rows. For some reason she didn’t like how I did it, all in a cluttered bunch. Oh well. Theodore was first here this morning, though the chickadees and nuthatches were not far behind. Even the blue jays were here earlier than normal this morning. Perhaps it’s the mild weather, it’s 28F (-2C), with lots of nice blue sky. It didn’t get quite as warm as the forecast said yesterday so the snow barely did any melting. Hopefully it will be better today.

This time of year can be hard. The weather is nice, but not quite nice enough to melt the snow fast. But it’s nice enough that a person wants to be outside, but there’s still too much snow to really do anything. For me it means my path to the river still isn’t ready for walking. Well, people can walk it still, but it’s dangerous to walk on it right now, lots of ice that isn’t going to melt for another 2 weeks at least. Unless it gets warmer, fast. Oh well. It happens every spring, this year it’s just happening earlier. Makes it hard to get pictures though. Plus I am likely missing the early ducks and other birds that are attracted by the open water of the river.

I am kind of surprised that we haven’t had any of our summer birds come back yet. Do they know something? Like perhaps this nice weather isn’t going to last? That’s a terrible thought. Therefore I won’t think about that. Coffee was here quite a bit yesterday, but he was smart enough to stay away when Jasper was here. I’m sure they will both meet soon though, since Jasper is coming around more often now. Then the chasing will begin once more. Coffee has grown quite a bit over winter, must be all those nice peanuts he had. Jasper is still bigger though. Spring. And summer. They are coming. So today we have some pics to remind us of the beauty ahead. Have a wonderful day everyone and God bless!
