For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Hi everyone and here we are with another bird to look at. This is the male “common goldeneye” which I have shown here before on my blog but have never really talked about them much. These ducks breed right through the Boreal forest region of Canada and into Alaska. They can also be found in states such as Montana, Minnesota and into the northeast. They are strong flying birds that can reach speeds of 40mph (about 65kph), and also produce a whistling sound with their wings as they fly. These are diving ducks that eat crustaceans, minnows, fish eggs and much more. They spend their winters on the Atlantic, Pacific and gulf coasts, but large flocks can be found as far north as there is open water, such as here on our river. They are one of our most common ducks but actual numbers are not known.
Have a wonderful day and God bless!

The part about their wings making a whistling sound when they fly is a very interesting fact! Thanks for sharing your wealth of info with us, Steve—it was that Muffin? 🤷🏼♀️😆🙊😹

Thanks for stopping by for this one Renee! Glad you are enjoying the bird facts. I think Muffin’s bird facts come from a cook book!😂😹

They look a great deal like a loon! I would imagine they’ve been mistaken as them.🤔

They are a lot smaller though, but if a person isn’t too knowledgeable about birds, it could happen.

Oh thanks! Did you just say I don’t know my birds??🤨🤭🤭 You’re right I don’t!😂😂

hehe.😂😂 Loons are a lot bigger, sit lower in the water and are darker looking at a distance. If you can see them up close, these ducks have yellow eyes, loons have red eyes.😁

As they say in the old country, “If you see a duck with a crutch, it’s likely lame, if you see a duck with a shotgun, scatter!”

Now that’s a saying that could prove helpful!!😂😂😂 Have a good day?

I always thought so too.
Yep, very nice day. It was sunny, 52, went down to the river, the path is nearly clear now, a few small spots I can walk around without leaving the path. Quite a change from the other day.😁🌞🚶♂️🌲🚶♂️🌲

Great! Well.. I submitted my house drawings I had completed to the builder for a quote to build. That will tell me if there’s enough profit to make it worth doing.

That’s good, is there more than one so you can get another quote? Although really, there wouldn’t likely be enough of a difference between them if it’s like around here.

This builder is the preferred builder of bank. Really, if his quote is out of line then I’m not going build. Just sell as is. I need to maintain 20% equity to build and when finished. Actually that’s very minimum, it needs to be higher for it to make it profitable. Just need to wait and see.

I hope he gets back to you soon so you’ll know what you can do. It would be nice to make a profit that’s for sure. Well, I’m off to bed, good night Dusty!
