For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone! The coffee is ready, grab a cup, sit back and relax! Muffin is already relaxing, I think she fell asleep! But we were having a wild playtime here earlier and she was just flying around here. The birds are busy this morning, at least some of them anyway. Such as the crows. They are beginning to make themselves unwelcome around here again this year. They are exceptionally noisy these days, it seems 2 pairs of crows want this territory, so they are constantly “discussing” the matter. This morning they were at it by 5:30. That’s early. It’s still dark at that time. So why are they flying around cawing at that time? Possibly something disturbed them. Like an owl. That does happen at times. The crows were quiet by the time it got light. Oh well.
I’m getting a little concerned, only one chipmunk has arrived so far and that’s Coffee. Where’s the other 5? Poor Jasper. Chase was back yesterday afternoon. You should have seen them going in circles around this big tree in the neighbor’s yard. And I mean around the trunk of the tree, on the tree. Without getting dizzy. The chipmunks have helped Jasper with one thing though. All that practice jumping off the deck, although Jasper seems to fall more often than jump, is paying off. When he was chasing Chase around that tree, Chase got ahead of Jasper a bit and started to run from the tree. Jasper was about 6 feet up and took a big jump almost landing on top of Chase and he did catch him, so there was a bit of a fist fight and hugging going on for awhile, then he chased Chase right across the street.
He needs to be careful about that street though, but it’s not the busy street out front at least. A couple of my gulls came back yesterday, but I’m not sure which two it was. I lost Sir George last year, but Lady Pearl did come back with a new mate, but he wasn’t as brave. Sir George did come back in the spring, but something happened to him after that, so Lady Pearl picked a new mate. Then there is Sir Charles, I think one of those yesterday was him. Then there is Sir Henry, he would be my friendliest gull now, but he hasn’t come back yet, however that’s normal, he’s usually with the late crowd, doesn’t like cold weather I guess. Smart bird. I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless!

disappearing blogs from the managed following sites seems to be an ongoing random issue with wp. over the many years i have been on wp, i have heard many people have this issue that for some reason blogs get dropped and they have to re-follow.

Hmm, that’s not good, could lose followers completely that way since they might think the person has stopped blogging and not even bother to look for them. First time I have heard of this but I’m not surprised.🙄

Wow, that’s a first, now I’m disappearing! I hope it doesn’t keep doing it for you. Hmm, I wonder if that has happened to other people too?🤔 They might think I have stopped blogging and not even look for me.😳

I thought you stopped blogging and thought that odd because you would have mentioned it in one of your posts. You were even gone from my Managed Followed Sites page! Go figure!
I’m getting a new laptop tomorrow so may be MIA tomorrow and the next day.
Callie say “purrrr” back to Muffin. 😻

Hi Eugenia! That’s right, if I ever decide to stop blogging, and I have no plans to do so, I will let everyone know in a special post. But I think I’m here for a while anyway! I wonder if that’s why some people have unfollowed me suddenly?
The joys of getting things set up on a new laptop! Hope it goes fast and smooth for you. Have a nice evening!😀😺🌞🌙

Good morning Simon! Yes, I name the birds that come around,😀 not all of them, but the bigger ones and some of the tamer small ones too. How else could I tell them apart?🤔 Those gulls are all identical, so I need to name them.😁
Wow, I didn’t know tigers snored! Very good Simon. Have a great night!😁🌞🌙😴

Are the crows scared of owls? And good job, Jasper!

Yes, they most certainly are! Crows sometimes become food while sleeping if a hungry owl comes along. Yep, Jasper is busy using what he learned last summer!

I would have never thought of owls as being so vicious! And good for Jasper!

The owls, the big ones like great horned owls will go after some big prey at times. They will land on the branch close to the crow and slowly move closer forcing it to fly, then the owl has it.

I never knew! Perhaps that’s why there was something about owls I just didn’t like…

Not all owls do that, but the great horned is a fierce type owl. They can actually strike hard enough to break a man’s neck, it has happened. But it’s not normal practice, normally it’s small animals like mice or rabbits.

I’ll have to keep my eyes out for owls now!

I don’t think you need to worry, unless you wear a fur hat and like to wander around at night in the forest.
