It’s Coffee Time! #88.

Good morning everyone! Coffee’s ready on this Monday morning! And it’s supposed to be a very nice day, with the high temp going all the way up to 63F (17C). Somehow that’s a bit hard to believe, but you never know. Maybe today will bring in some more birds from the south since it’s such a strong south wind today. Another one of my chipmunks came out yesterday, this time it’s Skamper. So I got some peanuts and sat outside for awhile and Skamper came to me right away, up on my lap and started to fill up with peanuts while I talked to him. He looked at me a couple of times while I talked, but chipmunks are a rather silent critter, they just don’t say much, unlike squirrels that like to talk.

And Skamper sat with his back to me, right away he did that. Is that a good thing? Yes it is. It shows that he trusts me. Wild animals like to put their back up against something so an enemy can’t sneak up on them. So it’s actually quite nice when they do that, because it shows their trust. And it shows that Skamper remembered me from last year. So that’s nice too. Pocket also came along and up on my lap looking for peanuts as well. He met Skamper once and the chase was on! Pocket is the boss. He’s also the biggest chipmunk. Although Chester, from last year, was just as big, but he hasn’t come out yet. Jasper came along too. I could just see what was going on in his mind. Chipmunks!! And the chase was on! He went after Pocket who went around a box and Skamper came over the edge of the deck.

Jasper stopped and went after Skamper who went behind another box, and must have gone inside it because Jasper came around by himself and spotted Pocket again so off he went. Then Skamper showed himself and Jasper tried a quick turn and swung right around in a circle. But off he went after Skamper with Pocket chasing him! Skamper jumped over the edge of the deck, but Jasper stopped in time. Now I’m quite sure that Pocket stopped and bit Jasper’s tail because he sure jumped! And over the edge he went. Pocket grabbed one more peanut and was gone. Jasper came back up and looked around cautiously. Poor Jasper. I gave him a big peanut. It’s going to be a fun summer.     • Nice to hear you got a boost Renee! Yes, watching them reminds of cartoon characters! I just hope we don’t get too many squirrels showing up, it would be hard on the chipmunks! And Jasper!😳😂😹☕☕

  8. Jasper is always outnumbered. He’s got to think of some better strategies. And that’s great that Skamper seems to have remembered you from last year. But I’m not surprised – you are the peanut guy after all. 🙂

  9. Chilly here today Steve, but we should feel more warmth tomorrow. As you write about the chipmunks and their antics, I couldn’t help but think of Alvin, Simon, and Theodore for a quick moment. Then Dave’s voice shattered the scene, “ALVIN!”

    • We finally had some spring weather again today, but a stormy blast of cold with a little snow is hitting us tomorrow. It was 57 today and tomorrow afternoon it will be only 14. But warming up again by the weekend.

  10. That is new info for me about Skamper turning his back to you , which showed his trust in you ! Cute ! Jasper seems to be in control right now…hope it stays that way ! Love the flowers you shared ! ☕️☕️🥜🥜🐿🙂🌹
