Coffee Time #101. Watch That Ice!

Good morning everyone! Coffee is ready, just help yourself and relax for a few minutes with Muffin and I. It’s cloudy and cool, but, it’s not snowing today and it’s supposed to get sunny this afternoon. So maybe most of this snow will melt by this evening. That would be nice. It will also be nice to get rid of this ice on the deck. Wow, it is slippery out there! Twice now my feet decided to go places they were not supposed to go, but I didn’t fall anyway. But it will be nice when it melts off the deck. I really don’t like sliding around that way. I don’t like ice anymore, not since that fall a month ago down at the river when I slipped on that patch of ice. That was scary. Now I don’t like ice. Speaking of ice, I wonder if my chipmunks will come back out today.

Bert coming into the yard, I’m on the deck.

There was 4 squirrels here yesterday, Jasper, Freddie, Chase and new guy. I need another name for him. Getting 4 males here together is quite something. And it was working for a while. Then Freddie and Chase got into a fight and Freddie chased him off the deck and down to Jasper who didn’t like being disturbed so he chased Chase back home and then came back and went after Freddie. The two just kind of stared at each other, and chattered. Then the angry squirrel dance began. Then Freddie attacked Jasper! They rolled around the deck for a bit, then Jasper jumped straight up and landed on Freddie! That was it and Freddie took off running back home. Then new guy showed up.

Bert and I a little closer.

By now Jasper was in no mood to allow any new squirrels around so off he went chasing this new guy through the trees, up and down, across branches, jumping to other branches. Jasper is better at jumping than the other squirrels, he has had a lot of practice with the chipmunks. With one jump he caught new guy, they had quite the fight and new guy took off back home. Not bad. Jasper sent them all running. Bert has been back the last couple of nights. Fortunately I have remembered to bring my feeders inside at night. My landlord forgot to bring in her feeders so Bert got at them, broke one, just took the seeds out of the other one. Last Saturday Bert was around during the day so I was able to go out and get some nice pics of him which I am showing today. There’s a robin singing nicely this morning. Spring has returned. I hope you have a wonderful day and God bless!

He is not even afraid of you 😮 you should probably not feed him. 😮😮😮

Yikes!!! Be careful!! That is pretty close there dude!!

They are called wild for reasons so just be careful – unpredictable

The goal of life is to try to stay alive lol 😄✌️

    • Bears around here are not afraid of people,😬🐻 they are hard to chase away. I don’t feed him, but he does sometimes get the birds food, can’t help that.😳🐻
I do try to chase him away,🐻 except this time because I wanted his picture.🐻📷
Yes, I know he is wild, I don’t really take chances, I’m always careful. Well, I’m usually careful. Well, sometimes I’m careful. Well, maybe we should forget this one.😬😲
Hmm, I should try to remember that, must admit, sometimes I do forget because I’m trying to get that good picture if I can.🙄📷
I was worse years ago, I have gotten much better at not taking chances. Really.😁🙄

      • I try though… I don’t do scary things – except work with dead people lol ✌️

I try things if I know I have a good chance of acing them ✌️ I am on the safe side

But I do have a daring streak – that is also sorta on the safe side lol ✌️

Ok but I try mostly ya know? ✌️😘

      • Yes, I would think your job is scary enough.😲💀👻 I wouldn’t be able to sleep at night!😳
What? No playing with bears outside?🐻
No playing fetch the stick with a wolf?🐺
No seeing how fast you can run with a coyote chasing you?🦊
How about falling off the edge of a cliff and landing 25 feet below on a small ledge in the middle of winter with a temp of -15 and there is no way out and no one knows where you are?😲 I’ve done that. Kinda scary.😬
        But it’s sorta safe.🤔 Kind of. A little.🙄

      • Hahaha, I have slept at the funeral home before 😄😄✌️

I haven’t done any of your scary things lol

I have jumped off a roof into a pool does that count? Lol of course I was 15 so that was when I was fearless lol ✌️

Now I am safer and hang out with death lol ✌️😄

      • I hope you slept in a bed!😬 That other thought would be truly scary, 😲worse than anything I have done!😳😳
Yep, as a teen we do all kinds of strange and scary things. We do tend to settle down as we get older.😳🙄 Not sure where I went wrong.🤔😂😹

      • Hahaha – no not a casket or anything lol – I had a cot – I planned ahead cause was a storm. My commute is an hour… so just did that for convenience ✌️😘

Oh I don’t know if I would say settle down?… cause if something thrills you – do you ever lose that?

But instead of settle down – I would say rippled by the world 😘✌️ because the experiences you have in the world will shape who you become ✌️

There is no right or wrong – are you happy? Then you good ✌️😘 (there is no rule book I know of?)

      • Whew, that was close.😬 I don’t think I could lie down in one of those things even if I was paid to do it.😳 Walking at night with wolves following me isn’t as scary as that!😲🐺
Well, I have settled down a bit, there are things I did before, like getting close to bears,🐻 and I mean close,🐻😬🐻 that I wouldn’t do today. I did it once, that was good, but it was also enough!😂😹
And my winter adventures, that was enough too, no more winter adventures for me!! I don’t like falling over cliffs, winter or summer, I have done both.😲 And some other things. Once is enough.😂😹
So in that sense I have settled down, I know better now. However, it doesn’t mean I wouldn’t try something else,🙄 but I would be a lot more careful now.🙄😁 I think too much about getting hurt now, it’s happened too much!😳🙄😂😹

      • Well it’s against the law to reuse a casket if someone’s body has been in it.

We had a case where the family was cremating … but they were having a wake and did not want to use the rental casket

The rental casket has an inside that can be removed and replaced with brand new inside.

But they wanted top of the line casket for them…

$10,000 and then had to be destroyed 😮

Usually families are fine with rental casket for cremation but this one wanted their very own and wanted a specific metal one. (Couldn’t be cremated)

        Crazy though huh?

I think yours be scarier lol – I can handle ghosts and things lol ✌️

I don’t want things that can cut or hurt me lol

Lol yeah … I am a safe type person lol… I think of what consequences or bonuses be. Lol … how safe is my decision? Lol

      • I never knew you wouldn’t be able to reuse the casket.😳 Though I really can’t understand why, it’s not like someone could pass germs on to the dead body.🙄
That is crazy, that much money for a casket just to have it destroyed. They could have taken it home to use as a garden planter or something.🤔🙄
Maybe a little scarier, but fun.😁😂😹

      • That is a great idea for some gothic family ❤️🙌 Someone would have loved a casket planter? 🌱 Lol

You can only reuse the casket when the inside can be completely replaced. I think each state has their own rules and regulations with that.

B&P Code § 7702 specifically prohibits “using any casket or part of a casket which has previously been used as a receptacle for, or in connection with the burial or other disposition of, a dead human body.” Doing so is not only a ground for disciplinary action, but the practice is also subject to citation and a fine of not less than $501, and not more than $1,000. It is permissible, however, to use a “rental casket” as defined in CCR §1258.2. In fact, 1258.2 expressly states that the provisions of B&P Code § 7702 are not applicable to rental caskets.

It is against the law because of sanitary reasons – bodily fluids or things – if that inside can not be pulled out – then it must be destroyed.

In a rental casket, we can completely replace the inside. So same rules do not apply … but that family did not want the rental. They wanted a specific casket

Also – you do not need to buy one of our caskets or urns – we DOoffer them – but if you want a specific one from somewhere else? You can do that.

But if you decide to do that with a casket or an urn, you will need to check with cemetery first and see what their dimensions are… because you have to know size of niche for an urn to make sure will fit

And then also same with casket because the cemeteries have cement vaults we lower the casket into… you need to make sure a casket ordered from 3rd party vendor will fit the vault.

But yes that was a waste of money for one use. They didn’t care. 😮

      • See? You could have resold it and made a few bucks.😀🙄 I wonder if they make urns that are metal and shaped like a treasure chest? Made out of silver maybe?🤔 Or brass would be nice even.😃 Though it would have to be coated brass so it wouldn’t tarnish. I hate polishing.😒
I guess all that makes sense for sure. Although a fine of $501 seems excessive. $500 I can understand, but $501, no, too much.😳🙄
        Okay, I’m being sarcastic, I just couldn’t help myself tonight, I’m tired.😂😴

      • Yes I do have metal urns like that⚱️ I have both silver and bronze and are rectangle or square

Lol… we follow rules so we do not get fined at all ✌️
