Steve And Muffin’s Wildflowers #31.

Hi everyone! Today’s wildflower is the “blue vervain”. This is a native wildflower that is found across Canada and the US. It will grow up to 6 feet (nearly 2 meters) tall. It prefers sunny areas and can be found in wet fields, in ditches and along the shores of rivers, streams, lakes and swampy areas. It will bloom from June to September, though in our area it is mainly from late June to early August. The flowers are only 1/4 inch (6mm) across, but each mature plant can produce hundreds of these beautiful blue flowers. I really enjoy that blue color. They can also be found in light purple and pink, though I have not seen these colors in our area. They are an easy flower to grow in a wildflower garden, or around a pond. They just need lots of moisture. I hope you all have a wonderful day and God bless!
