Sunday’s Sunshine #16.

Good morning everyone and Happy Sunday! It is a beautiful summer morning again, but also very smoky still. There were 115 forest fires burning as of last night, the number keeps climbing. Several new fires have started up about 25 to 30 miles away from our town, but they are all small fires though only one is under control. The largest is 75 acres now which is still in the small category. But because it’s not under control it’s a fire to watch.

Ageratum.

The largest fire in our northwest region is now nearly 300,000 acres, with others over 200,000 acres as well. And a lot of the fires are between 50,000 and 150,000 acres in size. Once they get that big, they grow quickly. One thing that has helped is having no wind at night and only a light wind during the day. The gulls were late for their breakfast this morning, I was beginning to wonder if they would come at all, but they finally showed up just a short time ago.

The chipmunks have been very busy, and Slim has been here too. Once I was outside while a chipmunk was getting his peanuts and Slim showed up, but I pointed my finger at Slim and said no, so he stayed still and didn’t chase the chipmunk. After the chipmunk left I told Slim he could come and get a peanut, which he did and ran off with it. Another time I just spoke through the window and Slim stopped so the chipmunk was able to leave without being chased.

Zinnia.

Poor Slim, he was looking around to see where I was. But just hearing my voice stopped him anyway. The crows have their young ones around now, just two this year. They lost their first nest to the ravens so had to try again, that’s why only two babies this year. Those little guys, well not so little, are certainly noisy, constantly squawking for food as they sit up in the birch tree. It’s a beautiful summer morning! Have a wonderful day everyone and God bless!

  1. Zinnia & Ageratum both are looking equally tremendously beautiful😍 Beautiful shot done Uncle Steve 🤗 Why do you think gulls won’t come 🤔 Slim is listening to you 😍😍 Thats good ✨ Ravens lost their homes, that’s sadly unfortunate. Hope everything will come back normal soon. Have a Great Sunday 🥳🥳

Yikes 😱🙏🙏 hopefully contained and put out quickly!! 🙏🙏🙏

Look up a man named Mark Rober – Squirrel maze

Is cute to watch the squirrels go through his maze lol

Happy Sunday to you also 🙌❤️ be careful and safe 🙏

    • Hi Trisha! Yes, I have seen his squirrel maze, it’s fantastic!😂 I don’t think my squirrels are that smart!🙄 And I don’t think I’m smart enough to come up with such a maze!🙄😂
The fires are bad and getting worse.🔥🔥 They have had to pull ground crews away from many fires because they became too dangerous.😲 They create their own winds and can blow burning debris miles ahead of the fire trapping wildfire crews.😳 One firefighter just died from the heat of the fire he was working on.😟 One fire west of our town is starting to grow rather fast even though they are hitting it hard right now.
But some showers are moving in for a couple days,😃 then back to hot and dry.🌞😬
Thanks Trisha! Have a great week!😀😺😻🌞☕☕

      • Haha they are probably used to his mazes and they want those nuts

Maybe the rain will put out the fires for now? 🙏🙏🙏

Our fires have not begun to burn yet 😮 but we so hot and dry!! We don’t get summer rain 😮

Well listen to them if they say evacuate … be safe!! Hopefully rain comes fast!

Yes definitely have a great week!! 🙌🙏❤️

      • We’re not getting enough rain to put out those fires,🤔🔥 but it might help to slow the smaller ones.🔥🌲 I hope so.😬 The smoke is so thick today, hurts my eyes and throat.😳
Wow, no fires yet in your area, that’s a good thing, maybe they won’t be bad this year.
Yes, if they say evacuate I sure will.😁 Some people stay too long and end up dying, that’s happened already this year.😳

      • Well I have fires around – but none really to close (knock on wood) nothing like Armageddon last year 😮

Although this morning when I went to get in my car for work – there was ash remnants on my car 😮

There is a fire near my Lake Tahoe

        https://www.tahoedailytribune.com/news/tamarack-fire-estimated-at-over-23000-acres-no-containment/

Lake Tahoe is about hour and a half from me.

So enough distance and I am south of Lake Tahoe so smoke blows East lol

But I am getting ash from something?? No smoke smell or orange brown skies.

Nothing in my direct vicinity that I am aware of

Yes I have a friend who is like that – doesn’t want to leave his property so if fire or floods come he refuses to evacuate 😮 some people just don’t want to… like a captain going down with ship kinda?

But yes it is the smarter thing to do – listen to authorities and do what they say!! Your life could depend on it

I am glad you are smart ❤️

Hopefully won’t get to that point though!!

        Stay safe ✌️🙏

      • Yes, I hope we don’t have to evacuate at any point, it’s just too hard.🤔 And like most people with pets, I would likely have to leave Muffin behind which would be extra hard.😬😬🙀 But it depends which way we could go in an evacuation. We have two fires now that are 300,000 acres,😲🔥 and several that are 150,000 to 200,000 acres,😬🔥 dozens that are 25,000 to 100,000 acres.🤯🔥 Fortunately the biggest one that is close to us is only 185 acres, but out of control still.😳
        Thanks Trisha, enjoy your evening!😀😺🌙

      • Omg 😳 😱 you have so many fires 🔥 😮

Is like how WE were last year 😮😮

We are in fire season but my area really starts with that at end of July beginning of august up through October 😮 right up to the rain!! 😮

Hopefully not bad like last year – oh it was so awful!

        You take care ❤️✌️

      • Thanks Trisha! We did have a bit of rain, not enough to stop the fires,😟 but might slow them down a bit anyway.🙂🔥
And it’s cooler which also helps. But the hot dry weather is returning on the weekend. I do like the heat, but not the fires.😁😳🔥
This is our worst fire season since 2006. However, we have had worse years.😬🔥🔥
        Have a good day Trisha!😀😺☕☕

      • I like the heat… maybe not so much the extreme heat 🥵 because I am older lol ✌️😄… but I do love being warm NOT cold 🥶

I also do not like fires 😮 when I was little girl I always had nightmares about fires … and also ants lol … I watched a movie I wasn’t supposed to watch, because I was too young… and had nightmares for years lol … years and years lol

So far we are ok here in my area at this particular moment 😳 I think 😳 no smoke or smoke smell.

I hope we be fine – not like last year 🙏🙏🙏 last year was awful!

Have a great night Steve lol 🙌✌️😘 beautiful evening here ❤️

      • Thank you so much Trisha! Things keep getting worse up here. We now have 165 fires, 125 are not under control. And they keep getting bigger.🔥🔥🔥😬
But it’s cooler this week with some showers possible, so that will help a little, except on the larger fires.😳🔥
        Have a great day Trisha!😀😻🌞☕☕

      • That’s how we were last year … one night we had 11,000 (not a typo) lightening strikes 😮 that touched off tons of fires 🔥 and then oh good it was sooo bad!!

I have posts about it last year lol 😮😮… Armageddon 😳

Are you Smokey and ashy? Ash was raining down like snow last year. 😳🔥😮

I hope they get your fires under control or out… are we helping you? We must?

You be safe! 🙏 hope Bert is ok 😮

      • Yep, ash falls a lot, covers my plants and my deck. Smoke gets so thick it’s hard to see across the street.😳 Hurts my eyes and throat, gets me coughing steadily.😲 Very hard to breathe sometimes.
Mexico sent us 100 firefighters, Wisconsin sent us 9.🙂
Smoke from our fires now covers half of Canada and down into the northeast US.😬
More than 1,100,000 acres is burning here right now.😳🔥🔥🔥 Fortunately nothing too close to us though. But that could change quickly.🙄
125 fires are not under control right now.😟🔥
        Have a good night Trisha!😀😺

      • That’s it??? 😮😮 no one else helps ??

😮😮 wow – totally like us last year Yikes … that is sad and also scary!!

I will pray they get handled safely and quickly – I also hope you get more help!! 😮 that is little help!!

        God bless fire fighters ❤️

      • Normally we would get help from other western provinces, but this year all 5 of us are having a severe fire season so we can’t help each other.😕 One eastern province did send us 4 CL 415 water bombers, so that gives us 8 of them now.
We also have dozens of our own helicopters and 500 of our own fire rangers. 1 fire ranger died so far. But our firefighters are getting worn out, they have been at it for so long already.😟
We have been getting thunderstorms here since 2am, so that is helping this area where I live, but I don’t know if they are getting this rain where the fires are burning, I hope so. But thunderstorms only hit small areas, and they also start a lot of fires with lightning strikes.🔥🌲🔥🌲
God bless fire fighters for sure.😁 They have a hot and hard job to do.😳🔥

      • Our people fighting fires too … I smell smoke today… but is still clear (knock on 🚪 wood)

Where is Australia? We need you Australia lol … come to Canada 🇨🇦 and the US 🇺🇸 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Isn’t it winter for them currently?

See now is the moments we pray for winter 🤨

All you can do is hope they can catch a grip of it 🔥 🌲

I know and very dangerous job also!! They put their life on the line to save hundreds, if not thousands, of others!! 😮❤️🙏 god bless them ❤️ thank you to them

      • Hmm, I can honestly say I have never prayed for winter!😂😹🥶 Rain yes,😃☔ winter no!🧊🤭
Well, we have had some rain which has stopped some of the smaller fires, and slowed down the larger ones.🔥😀 But warm dry weather returns tomorrow. We have actually had a lot of rain right here where I live. So I’m ready to dry out a bit. The fires need the rain now, not us.🙂☔
I hope you don’t get a bad fire season this year. Canada is burning up, that’s enough.😳🔥🔥🔥
