The Investigators, Inc. The Game. Chapter 16.

I fell to the floor, and I was almost completely out. I dropped my gun as well and someone kicked it under another table, out of reach. Then I felt someone touch my stomach, then there was a stabbing pain and I was out completely then. The 3 young women sitting at the table next to us left out the back door through the kitchen. Muffin was lying on the table but managed to call for help. Baldwin, Kat and M.C. were sitting in the lobby anxiously waiting. Baldwin was just staring at his phone. Then he exclaimed, “trouble, something went wrong!” Kat and M.C. ran quickly to the restaurant but Kat couldn’t do anything as Anthony made his way to the entrance.

Oh, this waiting part real hard!

M.C. saw Muffin lying motionless on the table, he growled and jumped onto Anthony’s back and started scratching! Anthony yelled in pain and pulled the gun away from Jennifer’s head. That’s when she grabbed his arm and flipped him over her shoulder. M.C. jumped off then and ran over to me, then to Muffin. One of the 3 men that had been standing in Anthony’s way, came over and broke Anthony’s hand to get his gun away from him. By that time the police had arrived and took Anthony away. Meow!=Human Steve and my Muffin hurt bad! Kat came running over and saw that I had been stabbed, but she couldn’t see anything wrong with Muffin.

An ambulance was soon here and took me and Muffin to the hospital. Apparently Muffin had been given some poison, but not enough to kill her. Also, the doctor said I was lucky the stab wound was located where it was, so it missed all vital organs, therefore not doing much harm. Kat asked if I could describe the 3 women. So I started with the first one who had very long light brown hair. She wore a type of wide brimmed hat, had very green eyes, a beautiful smile and she was very tall. I continued describing her and the other two and also mentioned they all wore white outfits. “Amazingly good descriptions Steve,” said Kat. “Just part of being a PI,” I said.

Ohhh, I sure not feel good.

“That sounds just like Katrina,” said Kat, “that would explain where you were stabbed, that was no luck, she knew the right spot to stab you, she’s very good with things like that.” “So it was more of a warning,” I said, “she was saying that she could have killed me had she wanted to.” “That’s exactly right,” said Kat, “and it’s the same with Muffin, they must have given it to her with a needle while Muffin was watching everything else.” Mr. Cat growled again. “You did a great job M.C.,” I said, “you definitely saved Jennifer.” Meow.=But I not save my Muffin from getting hurt. Kat went over to him. “She’s going to be okay though,” she said and gave him a hug, “now just stay close to her and keep her warm.” Meow.=Yep, I not leave her.

I sure not leave my Muffin.

“And I’m staying the night too,” said Kat. Baldwin said there would be 2 guards outside my door all night, then he left with Jennifer who was a bit shaken up by it all. “How did Katrina know we would be there?,” I asked Kat, “or is she really working with Anthony?” “Yes, it was no coincidence for her to be there, she knew about the meeting,” said Kat, “but I can’t see her working with Anthony, she hates men. All the top people in her little organization are women. She only uses men when she figures someone might be killed.” “How nice of her,” I said, “but that is interesting to know. So why didn’t she kill me then?”

“Because it’s me she really wants,” said Kat, “and it’s part of her game, to do things slowly.” Then Baldwin called, apparently Anthony’s men stopped the police van carrying him to the jail and rescued him. “Great,” I said, “so Anthony is loose already, plus he’s angry now because we trapped him. Baldwin said he’s putting Jennifer in a safe hideaway that he has, but he wouldn’t say where or when, which is smart.” “We’re all in danger until we catch these two Steve,” said Kat, “perhaps we should hide out for awhile too.” I called Baldwin back and mentioned that to him. He liked the idea, but it would have to wait until Muffin and I are out of the hospital.

  2. The saga continues ! Your body sure has taken a lot of “hits” ! And you still want to be a PI ! Muffin and Mr.Cat are very attentive ! It is a good thing that they are on your side ! Be safe ! ☕️☕️🕵️‍♂️👩😻😼‼️

    • Yes, Muffin and I have both had our share. Part of being a PI I guess. But now what to do? Two enemies at one time is a bit much. Should we hide a while too? Or just go after Anthony and Katrina? Eventually we have to meet them.😬👱‍♀️😾😾🕵️‍♂️
