Sunday’s Sunshine! #29

Good morning everyone and Happy Sunday! It’s a marvelous sunny morning once more, a little cool, but so fresh and bright with a clear blue sky! Really, it couldn’t be better for this time of the year. I think the birds are quite happy to have the sunshine again too. They were starting to look rather soggy after all those rainy days. They really do get quite wet, at least the outer feathers, and it changes their color, so that they really do look wet. Now they look a little fluffier again.

Bachelor’s Button.

Speaking of fluffy, Theodore was here again yesterday morning sitting on the bird feeder. Actually it was getting quite close to noon. So I went out to talk with her again for a while. She gerbled a little, but didn’t really say too much. “How have you been Theodore?” Gerbil, gerbil. “Yes, it has been a bit wet lately, supposed to be sunny for a few days now.” Gerbil, gerbil. “Yep, that will be nice.” Gerbil, gerbil. “Oh, your head gets terribly wet. You really don’t have much protection there.”

Gerbil, gerbil. “You stay under the pine trees? That’s why you haven’t been around much lately.” Gerbil, gerbil. “It was actually getting wet under the pines too? We did get a lot of rain.” Gerbil, gerbil. “Thanks for stopping by, be careful crossing the street.” Gerbil. And off she flies.

Viola.

Seems we have lost most of our juncos now too, but perhaps this nice weather will bring a few more in for a few days. There was a grackle here yesterday, but strangely he didn’t come down to the feeder, at least not that I saw. I walked around the yard yesterday to see what, if any, flowers were still blooming.

Evening Lychnis.

I found a few, though perhaps they are not all what most people would call flowers, like the clovers, both red and alsike clovers were blooming. Plus bachelor’s buttons, viola and evening lychnis. But we usually have some flowers that will bloom right up to the time snow begins to fall. Or until we get some heavy frosts, whichever comes first. Since yesterday’s post was a bit longer, I will keep this one shorter. Have a beautiful day everyone and God bless!

  1. I like that photo of the bachelor’s button. I never heard of it, but it is a beautiful flower. Glad to see that Theodore stopped by; hopefully he does not put too much strain on your bird feeder!
