Saturday’s Solitude. #31

Good morning everyone on this beautiful, sunny Saturday! It was cloudy when I got up this morning, but it has since cleared and now the sun is shining brightly. The chickadees were already here when I went out with the feeders this morning, quite anxiously waiting for their breakfast. So they were all over me and the feeders as soon as I came out. Chuck, the crow, was also waiting for his breakfast, as usual. The blue jays started showing up by the time the last feeder was in place. The nuthatches didn’t show up until I was back inside.

Plus 3 hairy woodpeckers came this morning, all at the same time, 2 males and a female. So that led to a “discussion” between the two males. After all, there are only 2 suet feeders with 3 hairy woodpeckers and a downy woodpecker each wanting time at those feeders. I might have to add another suet feeder, if I can figure out where to hang it. Oddly, no evening grosbeaks have been around yet today and that’s the first time that has happened since they showed up in the fall. Right now there are no birds at all out there, however, it is milder this morning so it is not unusual for the birds to leave for short periods. I see the blue jays and chickadees have just come back again.

The solitude of the river in June.

And I see a handful of evening grosbeaks have just arrived too. They are sure late this morning. There is a south wind blowing, giving us this milder weather, but also bringing some snow and freezing drizzle with it tonight. That means my deck should be nice and slippery by morning, but I will be ready for that. I hope. I have been cleaning and sorting through my stuff, plus rearranging the furniture. It is looking good, I am quite satisfied with how it is turning out. It is still a bit messy in here, unfortunately takes me a long time to do things since I can only work at it very slowly. However, I need to move along a bit faster and have everything cleaned up this weekend.

My landlord’s nephew was going to buy the house, which was great for me, nothing was going to change. However, he has decided not to buy the place. Right now I need to get things cleaned up because an appraiser is coming to look at the place one day this coming week, but I don’t know which day, could be Monday. Not that my place is dirty, just kind of hard to walk around at the moment, so I have to get things put away quickly. I would have had it all done but my back and arthritis have been bad lately which has slowed me down considerably, but I will need to push myself today and tomorrow so everything will be in it’s proper place.

The same river location in January.

Oh well. Then there is a new buyer who will also be coming to look at the place. Apparently the sale will be finalized by mid December. Now I’m back to where I was before, not knowing what will happen to me, whether I can stay here or not. But I will find out some things when I get to meet my new landlord, which will be sometime in the next couple of weeks. Time for more coffee and back to work. Have a wonderful day everyone and God bless!

  1. The Eastern coast of Canada like Nova Scotia and the western coast of Canada like Vancouver have milder winters than inland because the ocean has a moderating weather .

    • Well, he can’t kick me out until April 1st anyway, we have a law that says no one can be evicted during the winter months.

      • That’s good! At least you’ll have some time to find something else if he really wants you out.

      • Not enough time though, we have a 0% occupancy rate here, for 3 years now, there is absolutely nothing to rent at any price. However, I’m not going to worry about it right now anyway. I will keep looking, just in case.😁😻

      • Thanks Ribana! It’s been hard for a long time now and our town doesn’t want to let developers in to build apartment buildings.πŸ˜•
