The Investigators, Inc. Sleepy Town Mystery. Chapter 15, More Surprises.

“Well, how is it going over there?”, asked Kat. “The General has not shown up yet, although a vehicle was coming in just now,” I answered, “so perhaps that is him. I hope they have a plan of some kind, this General is too smart to show up there right now without his own plan.” “True,” she agreed, “I would think he would want to wait a while longer before going back to that place.” “That is what bothers me,” I said, “I think he will have more men with him than he usually does.”

Now back to our team…”That is him,” said Jennifer, “wait until they get closer, then let him know we are here Rock.” The General came walking up the small hill with just 5 guards, 2 on each side and one at the back. They were all about 10 feet away from each other. That just did not seem right to Jennifer. Meow.=Chop chop coming, no, 2 coming. “Thanks M.C.,” said Jennifer quietly, “now that makes more sense.” Finally they were close enough. “Hold it right there General Liu Wei,” Rock yelled with his booming voice, “we have you surrounded!”

The General immediately dropped to the ground and his guards began shooting. My team shot back, easily taking out the guards, but then the helicopters were there shooting at them with machine guns. Meow!=Shoot little missile under chop chop! And he shot his missile. Jennifer waited. Meow!=Now! She shot and down came one helicopter. Rock had his own machine gun and shot at the other helicopter hitting the pilot and co-pilot which sent the other helicopter crashing to the ground and exploding! They then went to check on the General since he was not moving and no one had shot him.

But when Rock got close he noticed the blood on the General’s head. He had been shot by someone off to the side. He looked, “the shot must have come from that hill.” “That’s a long shot,” said Jennifer. “Not for a pro,” added Annelie, “someone put out a hit for the General and hired a pro for the job.” “Someone else did not like the General either,” said Jennifer, “and they got to him first.”

Meanwhile, in a far off country… “Where is General Liu Wei?”, asked the man. “He was letting his personal feelings get in the way of his work,” said the new man, “and he had to be eliminated. He failed this last assignment. We have no room for failures here. Your man failed again?” “Yes, he did,” said the man, “and he will be eliminated too.” “Very good, now here is your pay,” said the new man. “Do you want me to continue hunting this PI group?”, asked the man. “No, that was General Wei’s downfall, leave them alone, if they cross us again then they will be eliminated for good, otherwise, stay away,” said the new man, “even though you failed us too, you are useful to us, but do not keep failing, our patience will end.”

“I understand,” said the man, “I have a new man, David, he will take care of the other sniper.” “Very well, and your new orders are with the secretary,” said the new man, “now go.” After he left, another man came in a side door. “David, that man must be eliminated, his money is yours,” said the new man. He left out the side door without saying a word. He met the first man outside standing by his car. “David, what a surprise to see…”, then he saw David’s knife, but too late. His body was never found, since no one cared to look for it.

Now back to us… Jennifer had called to let us know what took place. “I think perhaps the General was killed by his own people,” I said to Kat, “in their profession, failure is not well accepted.” “Yes,” said Kat, “it is that way with a lot of those people, even Katharina would not accept failure and it would mean that person would disappear.” We told the police about the General’s secret hiding place somewhere in those ruins. They searched and found it, and told us it was a very large sum of money.

They did not say how much, but we did get a large reward out of it, 1 million euros to be exact. The team finally arrived home and Jennifer came running across the room landing on top of me! “Did you miss me?”, she asked. “Of course I did,” I said, “although my legs might have something different to say!” Everyone laughed. “And you two are going to get yourselves in trouble switching places all the time,” trying to speak sternly, “I can still tell you apart though, so don’t forget that.”

Meow?=How he know which one which one, they look same. Meow, meow=It easy to tell apart. Meow.=Okay, which one Kat now? Meow, meow.=Oh it so easy, how come you not know? I not going to help you. Meow!=Ha! You not know too! Meow, meow?=You laugh at me? And the chase was on with both cats going wheeeeeeeeee! Well, so much for another vacation gone, maybe we should just stay home for our vacations. I sure hope our next case is a bit more normal…

We will be taking a short break from our stories over Christmas, but we will be back again soon.
