Merry Christmas Everyone!πŸ˜€πŸ˜ΊπŸŽ„

Good morning everyone! It is a beautiful, chilly morning here at Steve’s Country! The temp is -8F (-22C), the birds are busy at the feeders as usual. Jasper is hauling away peanuts and no one is challenging his territory this morning. Now that is unusual. The birds are feeding nicely together as well. Usually the evening and pine grosbeaks do not get along, but there has been little “arguing” among them this morning. It is a little cooler than it has been so the birds are more interested in eating, rather than “arguing”.

My little Christmas tree.

There were seeds left over from yesterday so I was not so concerned about getting out there too early to feed them. But when I looked I discovered they could not pull the seeds off the feeders, the seeds were frozen to the feeder. I should have realized that, it did get up to 32F (0C) yesterday, then freezing as it did was not good. So I went out and gave them fresh seeds. I will scrape the other seeds free a little later. There is not much wind out there which is nice, so hopefully I can spend some time outside trying to attract the pine grosbeaks to my hand again.

A little wooden sleigh I made. Supposed to be full of candies, but since I can’t eat them anymore I used decorations instead.

I had 2 of them land on me yesterday, one female was just on and off again, but then a male came and actually stayed there for a bit. Right now I am just trying to get them used to me, then I can try for a picture. At the beginning birds are always afraid of the camera, so I don’t try for pictures right away, it will just scare the grosbeaks away and make it harder for them to come back again. I hope you all have a most wonderful Christmas today!

  1. Merry Christmas Steve and Muffin! I hope you’re taking it easy and not wracking your brain too much with writing. Have some coffee and take the day off β˜•οΈπŸ’•

    • Thank you very much Hilary! Merry Christmas to you and your family! Yes, I just did the one post today, might be all I do tomorrow too, then I will get back to normal again.πŸ˜€πŸ˜ΊπŸŽ„πŸ””βœ¨β˜•β˜•

      • My issue is that I consume too much and don’t create enough. I could make time but I choose not to because I’m lazy. The amount of hours I spend consuming content is a lot, and much of that energy could be converted into writing, or doing something for the greater good.

      • You got me laughing there with the lazy part! I can’t picture you as lazy. Yep, that’s what I do, convert that time and energy into writing for your blog.

      • I guess it comes down to what we define as lazy πŸ˜‚ It’s easier for me to lounge on the couch and play Animal Crossing than write a blog post. It’s easier for me to take naps, or watch mind-numbing TV after an exhausting day. I get my best ideas when I’m half asleep but I’m too tired to write these ideas down. Ideas come and go all the time – I have yet to experience writer’s block. It’s the process that creates a lot of resistance for me.

      • Sorry for the late reply, I was so worn out yesterday I actually fell asleep with my laptop on my lap! I have done that before too, so when I finally woke up I just went straight to bed. I can understand your point of view there, writing is a bit of work and you are so busy with work and family that it’s hard to get motivated to actually do the writing. I have gotten writing ideas after going to bed, but I don’t want to get up and jot it down and the next morning I forget completely what I was thinking about. Sometimes I do remember eventually. Hope you are having an enjoyable Boxing Day! I haven’t even written a post today!

      • I slept in today until 1300! We were going to go out but my husband says that’s it’s super duper cold outside and rather watch football on TV. I plan to clean up a little and possibly get around to using the laptop. I have emails to send but I keep putting them off because #procastination.

Happy Boxing Day! I have some ideas for blog posts but rather play animal crossing, drink coffee, and eat chocolate.

      • It is cold out there today, just going out to the bird feeder is cold. It’s a good day to stay inside and relax. Getting snow tomorrow and again on Tuesday, 10cm each time.
Sounds like you have a good plan for the day, especially the coffee part!
