The Investigators, Inc. The Castle Mystery. Chapter 11.

Rock then left the bedroom, Jennifer going with him, to rejoin the others in the living room. Annelie and Candace stayed to look after Kristina and I. “Can you make some soup for Kristina and Steve?”, Jennifer asked Elsa. “Sure, I will do that,” she said and went to the kitchen with Angel. “We need to figure out some things,” said Jennifer, “we need to get Steve and Kristina back home, they need medical attention that we cannot give them.” Stewart got up and headed toward the kitchen and turned to say something to Jennifer when suddenly he fell to the floor with an arrow in his back! Everyone jumped up and then, another arrow hit it’s target.

Meanwhile back home… Kat and MC were in bed at the medical center. “Can you come closer MC?”, said Kat. He got up and lay down right beside her and started to purr. “You know, if something should happen to me, you and Muffin need to look after Steve,” she began, “and make sure he gets married again, he cannot manage on his own. Either Jenny or Carine would be a good choice for him. So make sure you get him thinking that way.” MC stopped purring for a moment and looked at Kat. She was crying.

Baldwin had just sat down for his morning coffee and toast which Shirley had brought in for him, when he got a phone call. “Yeah, what’s going on?”, he asked in his usual manner before he has his cup of morning coffee. Shirley backed away. But this time Baldwin dropped his cup of coffee and the cup shattered on the floor. “Okay Rock, help is on the way,” Baldwin told him. He had two helicopters waiting not too far away, though it still took them 2 hours to arrive at the castle.

They took Kristina, Steve and Carine with them. Carine had been hit in the stomach with the second arrow. Stewart had been killed with the first arrow so Rock had put him in the cold storage room with the others. Baldwin would have called the police until Rock mentioned that Kara was still missing, so he wanted them to stay and try to find her. Oh yes, they took Elsa back with them too as she was just too scared to stay any longer. Harris wanted to stay and help the team with their search for Kara.

Oddly, the two day maids did not show up for work that day which Harris said was a first for them, they had never missed before. Their phone numbers were in a book kept in Darren’s office. Jennifer called each of them but there was no answer which concerned her, but she hoped that did not mean they were dead. So far four people had died, Kristina and I had been beaten, and kept in horrible conditions, Kat and MC had been badly beaten, Carine was badly wounded by an arrow, Shirley had been beaten, though not too badly, and Kara was still missing.

This case was definitely not going well. Plus, unknown to us at the time, the mystery man had also been killed. The woman was still alive, plus at least one “ghost”. Meow, meow.=Me keep saying to stay away from castles, they always have ghosts. But no one listen to Muffin. “Muffin, there are no ghosts,” said Jenny with a smile. Meow, meow?=Then who shoot arrow? Maybe wind? “Hey, that is not nice Muffin,” said Angel, trying hard not to laugh.

“It was someone who ran very fast into another secret passage somewhere,” said Annelie. Meow, meow.=Me still say ghost do it and we should leave like ghost say. “You do not want us to leave Kara behind, do you?”, asked Jennifer. Muffin put her head down. Meow, meow.=Oh, me very bad, not think about Kara. We go find her now and, and, do something to ghost!

“Good girl Muffin, that is what we will do,” said Jennifer. Well, their number was down to 6 now, counting Muffin, and whoever this ghost was had a big advantage over them in obviously knowing these passageways better than they did. Of course they did have Harris with them too, though Jennifer was not quite sure if they could trust him or not.

Harris had never been in any of the passages except the one he showed the team before. He kept to his work outside, he felt that treasure hunts were just a waste of time. Legends were legends, nothing else. Jennifer asked Muffin what she thought about Harris. Meow, meow.=Me think he nice man, he honest, I can tell, we can trust him. That reassured Jenny a little, but she still had some doubts. After eating they returned to the bedroom to discuss plans. But what could they do?

To Be Continued.

    • Yep, Baldwin is fine, no problems there, and Muffin gave Elsa a good passing grade too. Oil? That would be interesting. Yes, I’m sure the team will be careful, there’s not many left now, but they do have that book to help them locate Kara, hopefully. If she is still alive. More coming tomorrow!🤔😬🙀🕵️‍♂️
