For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Happy Saturday everyone! And good morning to all of you as well. I forgot to measure the snow depth out here this morning, but it did melt more yesterday under sunny skies and a temperature of 41F (5C). Not quite as warm, but it did melt nicely anyway. Today it is supposed to be a high of 45F (7C), and although it is cloudy right now, the sun is supposed to break through this afternoon. The feeders are, well, not very busy this morning.
There are maybe half a dozen chickadees, the nuthatches, maybe a dozen redpolls and about the same for evening grosbeaks. It seems to be so quiet out there this morning and the grosbeaks have already gone again. The grosbeaks have returned, but less than a dozen this time. All together right now there are not even 20 birds out there. What a change in just one day. But tomorrow might bring more in again, or not. It is early spring now and birds are less predictable this time of year as some move north and others just spread out claiming their breeding territories and picking mates.
The weather is nicer so they can go after their natural food supplies once again. But soon our summer birds will begin arriving so there will be others to fill the feeders again. Until the bears show up. Then I will have to stop feeding again or lose my bird feeders. But hopefully those bears will continue to sleep until the snow is gone at least. Hard to say though. If they did not get enough food last fall then they will be out earlier than normal, and that is not a good thought.
We had such a nice sunset the other evening and I tried to get a picture of it. I always have trouble with sunsets, they always appear a bit washed out, not the nice colors I actually see. But like the sunrise photo I got a while back, I finally got a decent sunset picture. That is the one at the top, my featured image for this post. Then a couple days ago I managed to get some new bird pics on a nice sunny day. Everything looks so much nicer when the sun shines.
Sitting out on the deck in the sun with a cup of coffee, listening to the chorus of birds, watching them at the feeders, taking pictures of them. That is solitude. We can have that solitude right in our own yards. Or in my case, right on my deck, since I really don’t have any yard space. Solitude. The peace that it brings. The joy. The calmness. Worries fly away, even if only for a short time. Solitude. Enjoy it. You don’t need to go somewhere. It is in your yard, your garden, on your deck, or balcony. It is a beautiful Saturday. Thank you for reading today. Have a wonderful weekend everyone and God bless!

nothing like some solitude in nature to begin you day.
it’s a heat wave – I hope it melts most of your snow and ice…

If we could get another week of this temp most of the snow would be gone, unfortunately the temps are cooling down this week and even colder going into April!

Yes, it is nice now, but it will be cooling down again next week and even colder as we go into April. I hope that forecast is wrong though since it would mean lots of ice for a longer time. Muffin certainly enjoys her naps in the sun now and having the window open. Have a wonderful weekend too!ππππ»π»ββπ¦πΊπ·

Bow hunting is, but not turkey hunting. They have turkey hunting in the southern part of the province, but not here, not many turkey’s up this way, they are just beginning to move into the area.ππ¦π

It’s actually a bit unusual to get one so red this time of year so I was happy to get it! Once those trees get leaves it hides the nice summer sunsets.ππ»ββπ
