For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone!
Well, I am back with another of our butterflies. This is the “Northern Pearly-eye”. This is a true forest dwelling butterfly with adults eating sap from trees instead of going after flowers. Their flight time is from mid-June to mid-August, and they have one brood per season which hatch in the fall. They overwinter as caterpillars.
The caterpillars feed mainly on different grasses. The adult butterfly can sometimes be attracted by hanging up a cut orange. This will attract other species of butterflies too. They are another butterfly that is hard to catch with their wings open, but even the underside of wings is quite beautiful. Have a great day everyone and God bless!

Vibrant eyes on the wings… I have thought many times whether these eyes actually works π. Turns out to be an illusion of nature π. Lovely shot! ,πΈ

I think those eyes are more for beauty than anything else, I doubt they would scare away a bird that is much bigger and eats these critters! Thank you so much! Enjoy your day Simon!ππ»πππ
