The Investigators, Inc. Sky’s Past Returns. Chapter 8. Homeward.

The team moved quickly now to get everyone into the vans. A young woman that had been in the vault with Sky asked if she could come with the team. She is from Finland and was kidnapped and brought to the US 3 months ago. She has nowhere to go and is afraid of what might happen to her. So Rock said they would take her along for now.

While Carine and Astrid were walking out, MC suddenly jumped out of Carine’s arms and ran over to a dumpster that was behind the building. There were 3 big cats over there and MC jumped quickly onto one of them and got into a big fight. Carine and Astrid ran over and chased the other cats away. “MC, what are you doing?” exclaimed Carine. Then MC turned and there were 2 kittens. Astrid picked them both up cuddling them.

Carine picked up MC, “good for you!” Meow.=Bad cats going to hurt little kittens, they scared now. Then he mewed to them to let them know that Astrid was very nice and wants to help them. Mew?=What happen to us now? Mew.=We take you home with us, you really like it. We have lots food and play room too. Mew.=Food. Oh, we so hungry. Meow.=Little kittens very hungry, need food. “We have food on the jet for them,” said Carine, “just a little longer kittens, and you can eat.

Mew.=Oh, that sound good. Then they both started to purr quietly. Once everyone was back in the vans and they had taken off, Rock called Baldwin. “It is about time I heard from you,” said Baldwin with a sigh of relief, “did you get Sky?” “Yeah, boss, we got her,” he said. “You do not sound very happy,” said Baldwin, “what is wrong? Is Sky okay or what?”

“Well, I am not sure,” said Rock, “she is alive, sort of, but she has been beaten and drugged. She does not recognize us, and just stares straight ahead all the time. No response of any kind from her boss.” “That could be the drug, or drugs, she was given,” said Baldwin, “I will let Chung know what to expect. What about everyone else?” Rock was silent. “Hey, I asked a question,” said Baldwin, “something went wrong, now tell me, no, wait, I need to call Rossana so the police can move in now.”

He did so and soon the police were moving in on the other 3 locations that Carole Ann had, in England, Germany and Japan, plus the place in the US. “Okay, now, no more silence, I want a report,” said Baldwin. “Okay boss,” said Rock, “Clarence and John are dead, but Clarence did get Carole Ann.” “I wonder if he has a family,” said Baldwin. “Yep, he is married and has 3 kids,” said Rock. “Okay, then I will make sure they get his money,” said Baldwin.

“Benson is wounded,” said Rock, “but not too bad, just his shoulder. Think I dislocated my shoulder bashing in that vault door. Then there is Angel, Ilda and Storm, I really do not know what to say. They are in bad shape, it does not look good for them.” Now Baldwin was silent. Due to what they just did, going to a hospital would not be a good idea. However, Saranna, our new doctor, was waiting at the jet and there is a well equipped mini hospital on board.

Just the push of a button turns 2 of the bedrooms into that hospital room. Hopefully it will be enough until they get back to the clinic. Meanwhile, back with us. Baldwin called me at the clinic. I was back in my room and Tracy was with me. What a sigh of relief when Baldwin said they got Sky back and she was alive. He was about to tell me more, but I suddenly dropped the phone and slumped forward in my chair. Tracy quickly pressed the emergency button which brought Chung and Majori running to my room.

Meow,meow?=What wrong, what wrong? “It is his heart again,” said Chung, as he and Majori took me to the examination room. Poor Baldwin was yelling into the phone trying to get someone’s attention. Finally, Tracy answered and told Baldwin what had happened. It was the next morning before I finally opened my eyes, I am sure it was the kiss that did it.

Even with the bruises I knew it was Sky, she has an unmistakable, sunny smile! My heart attack was not anything major this time, set off by all the stress lately. So, I was soon on my feet again and we were back home at the chateau. It felt good to be back home and living normally once again. It took a little longer for Angel and Ilda, but they pulled through perfectly. And it looks like we might have another new addition with the Finnish girl.

Even Storm is okay again, though he likely will have problems with his left front leg from now on. He can walk on it, but no jumping or running just yet. Muffin has taken responsibility for looking after the kittens. Rock and Annelie are keeping one, and Astrid is keeping the other. I hope we can settle down now for a while.

  2. So glad Sky survived and returned to herself, awakening you with a kiss! Now you will have to fully recover before taking off for parts unknown. The kittens are a nice addition. So sad that Clarence and John had to die. Hope the others all recover. Will look forward to the next adventure.

    • Yes, this was a rough one, good thing it was shorter than our usual cases. But now we can rest up for a while before our next case comes along which will be our last one of the year. I’m hoping the kittens will work out good! 😃👩😺😺😺😺😺🕵️‍♂️
