Gazelles.

Greetings once again and here we have another very amazing animal.  This animal from Africa has one of the most ingenious cooling systems around!  Gazelles need to run rather quickly to escape predators.  But, this raises its body temperature, and the blood going to the brain needs to be cooled quickly or the poor animal is going to die which is just going to help the predator but not the gazelle.

So, what happens?

Well, it has a special way to cool itself built right into its head!  There is a large pool of blood in the nasal passage and hundreds of small arteries pass right through this pool of blood.  As it inhales air during running the air cools this pool of blood and that in turn cools the blood in those tiny arteries which pass through that pool of blood.  Now after the blood has cooled it then once again enters a larger blood vessel and goes to the brain. Without this amazing cooling system the poor gazelle would die very quickly.

Talk about exciting…

Especially for the gazelle!  But also for us.  Our mighty God gave such wonderful provision to the gazelles to help them out now that sin has destroyed His once perfect creation.  And our God has also given us the same wonderful provisions as we go through trials and troubles in our lives!  Just consider this verse;

“He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength.” Isaiah 40:29

Wow, that’s even better than what God has done for these gazelles!  No matter what the problems that come our way, God is there to give us the power and strength we need.  And He never fails us!  Well, I hope you have enjoyed this little bit about gazelles.  God bless!

  1. Really interesting facts! Steve, I like how you described it: “Our mighty God gave such wonderful provision to the gazelles to help them out now that sin has destroyed His once perfect creation. And our God has also given us the same wonderful provisions as we go through trials and troubles in our lives!” Amen to that! Wonderful verse as well, Bravo!

  2. Wonderful write up one more time! Steve you need to write more of these! We used to hunt this animals back then in 2008 and we caught none—they were just faster.

    “He giveth power to the faint; and to them that have no might He increaseth strength.” Isaiah 40:29

    Amen. I was reading Isaiah this month and I am just feeling blessed to see the verse once again.

    God bless you Steve.
