Daily Pics #87.

Alsike clover.

Good Friday morning to everyone!  It looks like it will be a very nice day, the temp is supposed to be 7C, which puts it into the mid 40s which is fantastic for us.  That means the snow will be melting fast today and even faster tomorrow as the temp gets even warmer.  Yesterday a gull flew overhead for a while advertising the fact that they are now back for the summer.  Oh that was just such a joyful sound to hear finally.  I always look forward to the call of the gulls in the spring because it means that winter is behind us and warmer weather ahead of us.  It wasn’t Sir George however, but I hope he will be back very soon too.  So the return of our summer birds is under way and more will continue to arrive in the next few days.

And now, some more fun and bright flowers for us to enjoy…

Starting off with this very bright “yellow wood sorrel” which is a plentiful wildflower in this area, but a rather small flower.  But what it lacks in size it makes up for with brightness.IMG_4562

And one that I shared earlier last summer, the “Bicknell’s cranesbill”, one of our smallest wildflowers but a real beauty.  It is about 1/4 inch (6mm) across and I always enjoy finding these tiny gems.

I hope you all have a wonderful Friday and God bless!

    • Yes indeed, lots of turtles around, though sometimes it’s hard to get close enough for a picture, which is why I don’t have one yet. But turtles are on my list of animals I want to get a photo of this year. Providing this virus doesn’t hamper efforts. Right now it”s hard to even travel a short distance. We have painted turtles and snapping turtles here.

    • Spring is here Hilary!! The snow is melting fast today. Supposed to hit 8 here and sunny with a good south wind. Perfect for melting that snow! Are you going out much?

      • I don’t see any flowers blooming yet. Just a bunch of snow BUT the snow is melting. I try to leave the house once a day – doesn’t always happen though. I find it way too suffocating being inside 24/7. hence “cabin fever.”

      • Yes, “cabin fever” can happen any time of the year when we stay indoors too much. Always hits me in winter. I’m still trying to get myself back to walking again, but right now just walk back and forth on the driveway which is exactly 100 ft long. So I can measure my walking distance. Hopefully my path to the river will be snow free soon so I can get back down there again. Always good to get out as much as possible that’s for sure!😁😸🌞☕☕

    • Good afternoon Pene! Yes, sunshine and warm temps with a nice south wind, perfect for melting snow fast. Should be around 47 today, a nice temp for March, for us. Probably still sounds cold for you. Yep, outside this afternoon for me! Have a wonderful day Pene! How are the kids doing? Are they adjusting well to the new restrictions?

      • THank you for asking. The teenager often meets with a friend or 2 from the neighborhood and goes for walks, then they stay on the phone all day and all night.
My 7 yr old is happy running outside and at the park when he plays with few kids from school. The older one is away at college, they can stay in the dorm if they like, so if things get worse he will flee to safety, i.e. home. But for now he is “adulting” …

      • That’s good that they are getting outside and can still meet with some friends. All government and municipal parks are closed here, though the 4 walking trails are still open for now. My path isn’t an official municipal trail so it will be okay for me to use, hopefully. My photography will be seriously hampered with so much closed down now. Hopefully it won’t be long. Guess it’s time for my “walk”.
