Good morning to all of you on this wonderful Wednesday! Well, it’s another one of those chilly mornings but that will change soon. Muffin will be very happy about that, she can have the door open again. My feet will also be happy about that! Muffin was really jumping around this morning as we played fuzz ball. She would jump and catch it in the air then give it a good toss. At least twice she managed to hit me with it, I’m glad that thing is soft. Then she would just suddenly take off running, jump on the bed, to the window sill and up on the insulator display shelf, then turn around and come right back down and up to her scratching post by the living room window. Then just as suddenly she stops and quietly watches the birds for about 20 minutes so I decide to get my breakfast. But before I can start to eat, Muffin is ready for round 2 of playtime. And she has such a nice smile, how can I say no?
But now that we are relaxing, it’s time to take a look at some more bird pics…
And we’ll start with this pic above of a nice red male “purple finch”, a common and very pretty bird in this area.
And in the pic above we have a beautiful female “pileated woodpecker”. This is the largest of our woodpeckers and is the size of a crow. Both sexes have a bright red crest and are a real joy to see. Their size alone makes them an impressive woodpecker, but they seldom come close enough for a good pic so I was happy to get some the other day when this one was around. Her mate was around too, but he stayed just a little too far for me to get a pic of him.
