For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Good morning everyone and Happy Wednesday as well! It is a fabulous morning, the sun is shining brightly on the trees, the sky is such a deep blue, just beautiful. We had a thundershower last evening which made everything wet but now it adds to the freshness of the morning. It’s a bit chillier this morning too, but sitting here with a jacket and my coffee it is really very nice. And the birds seem to be much more active this morning too. There are so many different songs being sung out there in every direction. A “solitary vireo” has added his song to the chorus now so guess they will be nesting close by this year. The catbird was out in the bushes back here mewing away. I think another song was his as well, kind of borrowing a song and adding some different notes of his own to the mix.
Sir George was here early this morning so I brought food out for him which he quickly devoured. Then I noticed another one on the roof so I brought out some more food. That one was Lady Pearl and she came down right away. The crows had arrived by this time but Sir George came down and stood there while Lady Pearl ate. After she flew then he finished what was left behind. He remembered she needed to be guarded from the crows.
And now for today’s summer pics for your enjoyment…
Depending on where you live, this could be more of a spring flower, but for us it would be considered very late spring and early summer. For those who don’t know, this is a tulip, a nice pink and white variety.
And here we have a nice pink tulip and quite a large variety as well. It really is beautiful. My landlord planted 50 bulbs last fall and ended up with 4 flowers. The rest of the bulbs were eaten by one of the squirrels, who loves tulip bulbs. I have named that squirrel “Gopher” since he loves digging. The other 2 squirrels are “Woody” and “Skitter”. I hope you all have a wonderful Wednesday and God bless!

This remind me a movie “Tulip Fever” I have seen so many beautiful flowers in that movie, and it’s kind of funny movie. Sir George is so kind and protective, I think Steve trained them well with good characters just like him. Beautiful pictures Steve! Have a beautiful day Steve And Muffin π€π

Sir George sounds like the alpha bird!

Yep, it’s really quite interesting watching him. Another crow tried getting on the feeder with him when Lady Pearl wasn’t there. Sir George clipped a couple feathers of that one, second time now a crow has lost feathers.
