Coffee At Steve’s Country #22.

Good morning and Happy Friday to everyone! Coffee is ready, help yourself and relax with Muffin and I for a while this morning. Muffin almost seems nervous today, she’s just kind of walking around, but doesn’t want to play. She gets that way sometimes. I think it’s time for some more bright and cheery flowers today. I picked out a couple of our wildflowers that for some reason are called weeds. Very strange, but I hope you like them anyway. It’s another cold, cloudy morning here. It’s presently -12F (-24C), but at least it’s not windy like yesterday, so I don’t freeze solid when I go out the door.

The Canada hawkweed, looks somewhat like a dandelion, it grows over 3 ft (1 meter) tall.

And I could actually open the door somewhat normally. Unlike yesterday when the door was frozen shut and I had to kick and pound it to get it open. Normally, like this morning, the door just doesn’t even close properly, therefore it opens quite easily in the cold weather. Not even any point locking the door since all that’s necessary is a slight push on the door and it opens. Cold weather does produce some problems. However, I don’t really expect people to be wandering around at night in this cold anyway, so I’m not concerned about the door. But I still lock the door. Locking our doors always gives us that false sense of security that we all love to have. Even if the lock doesn’t work on the door, it still works on us. Therefore we can sleep peacefully knowing that we locked the door even if it doesn’t work. Oh well.

And here we have the very bright ‘orange hawkweed’, they can grow up to 18 inches (45cm).

Then there is the booms and bangs so common in the cold weather. Common if there is wood around, and most places are made from wood around here. It’s the moisture in the wood that freezes and expands causing amazingly loud noises, sometimes so loud it sounds like some large object just hit the house. Like last night. During the night. When Muffin and I are sleeping peacefully in bed. BOOM!! I jump! Arms and legs flying in every direction. Muffin jumps straight up with a “yeowerl”. Then she comes over, standing on me and looking at me with half closed eyes. I know what she’s saying. She’s telling me if I try that again that I will be sleeping on the floor. We settle back down. Oh well. I hope you have a fantastic Friday and God bless!

  1. pfft ,🤣😂🤣 Arms and legs flying waking up 🤣😂ha ha ha, that was funny, I had a similar incident last night, when my wife phone had that ding ringtone for her message and I was half sleep when it happened, I woke up like something jumped on me😂 The look on my wife face 😂😂 I checked her mobile to ensure the internet is turned off to avoid further notifications disturb me 😂. Door getting locked these strange noises I knew this when I stayed with my mom’s sister in a cold place, it is usually a cold place in minus degrees, but no snows 😁 it’s a hill area she use to say such things about wood, noises, cold days door getting stuck. Hawkeed looks like it is made of paper 😉 looks nice and bright, orange ones looks way better than yellow isn’t it ☺️😎 Beautiful flowers…😍 So it’s Friday ! Time to have fun, don’t forget to read a happy post from Ribana, it was funny 😂🤣. Enjoy writing reading and thinking..🤗

    • Yes, I like to make sure my phone is off at night so it doesn’t wake me, and Muffin, up and cause all that jumping around. Good way to get bitten by a certain kitten.😾😹😳 Yes, the orange does look better, I like them, they are just so nice and bright,🌞 seeing a bunch of them together is very beautiful.       • Yay! 🤓 Running when my competitors on vacation is 😂🤣 It’s okay, 😁 Hope the missing competitors come soon😁 Is the covid count decreasing ? after vaccination? 🤔 I hear people must take vaccines 😳🙄 Ive been running away 😂 scared of needles 😂😂

      • No vaccinations up this way yet,🙄 might start by the end of February, but only for certain people.🤔 For people like me it won’t happen until June at the earliest. I would take it now if I could.😁💉💉💉

      • Needles are nothing, just a little tiny bit of pain that’s here and gone before you can blink.😸 No more pain than a mosquito bite.🦟🦟🦟🦟 You can do it. Just keep saying “if that crazy cold guy from northern Canada can do, then I can do it”.🤔😁

      • Very true , getting it is worse that getting it 🤨🤨🤨 wait a minute!!! I’m saying the same thing 🤔🤔 No no, that can’t be right, I’m running away so that I won’t get the vaccine, which means eventually I will get it🤔🤨 that means I am running away from getting it just to get it, inevitable 🙄🤔🤨 why I didn’t think of it in first place 🤓

  3. Hmmm…I always tell my husband that I could kick our door open with one kick even tho’ I am a senior ! And we have double locks ! …it is cold here as well…Muffin could attack an intruder with her bites, scratches and hissing ! ☕️☕️😾🙂☕️☕️

    • And most household locks are very easy to pick anyway. But even locked there isn’t much holding them shut. I think Muffin would hide under the bed and leave me to do the biting, hissing and scratching!😂😹☕☕
