The Investigators, Inc. Desert Mystery. Chapter 13. Sniper.

Well, we are on one of Baldwin’s jets heading home, soon we will be landing at the airport. Baldwin said there would be our ambulance waiting to pick up Angel and Chung. He also told us to be extra careful and protect Kara, she was in danger. I wonder who is after Kara? We will just keep her surrounded I guess, Baldwin said none of us are in danger, just Kara, so keep her alive. We will definitely try to do that. The jet landed and we are now getting off, I went first to look around.

The ambulance was just driving up to us. Rock carried Angel down and put her on the stretcher. Then the girls came down while Rock and I looked around. Storm came running down and jumped onto the stretcher. “Hey, get that mangy animal off the stretcher,” yelled the attendant. “He goes with Angel in the ambulance and to the hospital,” said Kat firmly.

This little episode took our attention away just for a moment and suddenly Kara fell. She had been shot in the head. “That belltower, the shot came from there,” said Carine. Her hearing is exceptional so I did not doubt her. Rock, Jenny, Kristina and I ran over there fast and up to the top of the belltower. Nothing there but a rifle, and a note, “the sting of death”. We lost. We came back down to look around.

The priest met us and told us we cannot look in any of the rooms. I told Jennifer to watch the priest while the rest of us looked around. But we found no one. “He will not talk,” said Jennifer angrily. “Where did the man go?”, I asked. He just smiled. He is either part of this or was paid to keep silent. I was in no mood for games though. I told Rock he wants to sit down. He picked him up and sat him on the pew.

I then gave him a good hard smack with the back of my hand. “I will call the police!”, he said firmly. “Go ahead,” I said, “but my friend is dead and you helped kill her.” His eyes opened wide. “Honest, I had no idea it was that,” he said, “a man tossed 1,000 euros at me and said not to say anything. He went out the front door, I did not really look at him, dressed in black, dark glasses, dark beard which did not look real.” We left, he likely was telling the truth now but it will not help us.

Kara died instantly. And the ambulance was not ours so Kat called the police and held the attendants until the police arrived. Our ambulance arrived just as we returned. We stood there talking waiting for our cars to arrive, they were late getting here, so I called Baldwin and told him what happened. There was silence, then I heard him ask Annelie who was next on the list. I wonder what he is talking about?

Then Kira fell. “That open window in the terminal building,” said Carine. Again the four of us ran up there, and again we were too late, just a rifle and the same kind of note. What is going on around here? We were safer out on that desert. The remaining girls had gone back on the jet for safety. Kat had called Baldwin back and told him. “Stay in that jet and I will send a couple of helicopters over to get you,” said Baldwin, “and watch Kristina, she is next on the list for this sniper!”

That’s not good, thought Kat, Kristina is out in the open walking back. So she ran out to meet us and said to cover Kristina. So we walked around her, though I do not think that would help too much if the sniper is up high somewhere. Who is after us now? Is this related to our case on the desert or something different? Two dead within just a few minutes. Plus Kat said that Candace and one of the new girls, Meja, had also been killed by this sniper.

Now, backing up just a little to dinner last night at the chateau… “What is wrong Aurela?”, asked Lajla. “I know that man, the Stinger,” she said, “we went to school together, then he went into the military to be a sniper. But he got tired of shooting targets, he wanted to shoot people he said. He told me one day he would be a famous sniper.

I thought he was just talking, but then I saw him later with the man I was working for and found out he was making a lot of money hiring out his talent. He is good, too good with a gun, he brags he never misses. His name is Bradly Wainright, his parents were from Canada but came to live in Sweden and Bradly was born there. No one can catch him.” “Thank you Aurela,” said Annelie, “now we have him.”

To Be Continued.

    • No, this guy isn’t someone we know, but we will know for sure once we find his photo, which Annelie will find for us. She will have to hack in somewhere to find his photo, either a driver’s license of from the military. But we don’t know anyone from Sweden. But he’s just a hired killer anyway, we need to find out who hired him too. We want both. And we will find them, hopefully before Kristina is killed since she is next on the list.🤔👩😾😾😾🕵️
