Coffee And Chatting. #17

Good morning on this beautiful, sunny Tuesday! Well, it is time to get ourselves a cup of coffee and chat a while. It is a rather cool morning at 48F (9C). It feels even cooler after yesterday which was a very beautiful, warm day with a temperature of 75F (24C). Okay, that may not seem very warm for many of you, but this is September which brings with it much cooler temps for us, and that is an above normal temp for us.

But only one day. Although Sunday was also quite nice at 70F (21C). The nicer weather brought some of the chipmunks back out for those two days. Pocket, Skamper, Skitter and Coffee joined GPS gathering mostly sunflower seeds. I did put a few peanuts out now and then, but that was mostly for the blue jays, although GPS also managed to get some.

I sit on this stump while looking at the river which is still very turbulent as seen in the top featured image too.

The other chipmunks were quite satisfied with the sunflower seeds. That is all they seemed to want which was good. I was not able to get any peanuts when I went shopping yesterday. Not a good thing. I hope the stores start getting peanuts in soon. Blue jays will also eat sunflower seeds, but then they bother the small birds.

A calmer portion of the river.

Feeding them peanuts helps keep them away from the other feeders and keeps them around to help protect the small birds from danger. I like to have them around, they are very beautiful and beneficial too. Because it was so nice yesterday I decided on going to the river again. It was a very beautiful walk, though I must admit, it was hard walking back.

Going on the same day that I go shopping is not really a good idea, too much activity for one day. But it was going to be so nice and the rest of the week is not looking so good. So, off I went. There were a lot of birds again this time, but all were our year round birds like chickadees and nuthatches. Plus there were brown creepers and ruby-crowned kinglets in the flocks as well.

Colors of fall beginning to show.

Those last two will sometimes stay the winter but usually head south. But they are among the last of our summer birds to leave. I was hoping to get a better picture of a brown creeper but that did not work out. I did get pics of some mushrooms, and I saw something very strange happening to a mushroom, something I have never seen before.

More colors.

I did get a picture of it, but I want to look it up first before showing it. I also had something strange happen to me along that walk, that has never happened before. But I will save that for tomorrow. The colors of autumn are showing up along the river now. But it is mid September, colors are beginning to show everywhere now. Thank you for reading today. Have a wonderful day and God bless!
