The Investigators, Inc. The Case That Is Not. Chapter 13. The Leader.

“I would like to let you have time alone with them Sky,” I said, “but we do have rules to follow.” “But I am not part of your team yet,” insisted Sky, “so I can follow my rules with them.” She smiled. “Not a bad thought,” said Baldwin, “however, you do want to be part of our team, do you not?” “Yes, I sure do,” said Sky, “so it is your way. It was just a thought.” I chuckled at the idea, knowing how good Sky can fight.

“Well, I think Luvia must be the leader,” said Baldwin, “she acts too smooth about everything.” “Makes sense to me too,” I said, “I still find it hard to believe Mriya turned on us, she has been with us a long time already. What does she gain?” “A chance to be a leader with Lavina,” said Sky, “that can be more important than extra money for some people.”

“Hmm, never thought about that one,” said Baldwin, “but you are right, it can be the same in the business world with some people. I am going to like having you around Sky.” “I hope everyone likes having me around,” she said, looking at me. “You already know I do,” I told her, “and I am sure everyone else will as well.” “Have either of you been checked for poison?” asked Sky. “No, but since I do not live here, it should not be a problem for me,” said Baldwin, “but Steve, you should get checked today.”

“I think you both should be checked,” said Sky, “after all, you are kinda important Mr. B. And maybe Luvia is not the leader.” We were soon at the clinic so Chung could check us. Sure enough, Baldwin had the same poison in his body as Jennifer, but not much yet, so Chung could give him an antidote he came up with for it. “I do not see how that could be,” said Baldwin.

“Maybe one of the men is working with them too,” said Sky, “that would mean Benson, John or Stanley.” “I doubt Benson could do it,” said Baldwin, “he could never hide the fact he betrayed me. John has worked with poison before, as you know Steve.” “Yes, that is true,” I replied, “but John has changed, I believe that, I say he is innocent too.” “That just leaves Stanley,” said Sky, “may I, um, ‘talk’ to him?” “No,” I said, smiling. She gave a very big sigh.

“You and Muffin will get along great,” I said, “you both like to sigh.” Sky giggled. We went back home, and Sky went to her bedroom to sleep for a while and Sigubjorn took over. “Seems to me I am supposed to have the day shift,” she said to me. “Yes, but things are happening right now, and we needed Sky around,” I said, “but hopefully tomorrow will be more normal.” “Do I get to know too?” she asked. So, I told her what is going on.

She looked completely shocked to learn that there are 4 traitors in our midst. Though we are not quite sure about Stanley yet, however, it is not looking good for him at the moment. I also told Sigurbjorn not to say anything to anyone else just yet. She promised to keep quiet, and I am sure she will. I wanted to tell Rock too, but Baldwin reminded me that Rock would not be able to act normal if he knew what was going on. Baldwin is right. Rock is a tenderhearted type of man and would tear the traitors apart if he knew. Even if they are women.

Meanwhile… “Stanley, I think they are on to us,” said Luvia, “they found out that Mr. B had been given some poison, and that will point the finger at you.” “Get the others ready,” he replied, “I will be there in 15 minutes.” He was very punctual and pulled up to the chateau. Luvia, Mriya and Sovia came running out of the house. Stanley had gotten out of the car and had his gun ready.

“Drop your gun Stanley,” said Sky. He turned quickly, but Sky shot twice, and he was down. The girls stopped and pulled out their guns, but, “Thwock, thwock, thwock!” All three of them fell. The cats had been waiting for them. Apparently Sky got together with the cats and planned to watch. She figured they might try to run after we found out that Baldwin had been poisoned too. Meow, meow!=Now you part of team too!

“Hey, wait a minute you 3,” said Sky, “it takes a unanimous vote to get added to the team, and there has not been a vote yet.” “Better look again Sky!” shouted Rock. Everyone was standing outside with right hands raised, signifying a yes vote. Sky had a huge smile on her face. I came over to her. “It looks like a unanimous vote to me,” I said to her, “so I hope you accept.” “Of course I do, silly!” she said, and kissed me, “guess I should stop that.” “No need to change, be yourself Sky,” I told her. I guess we can now relax for a while.

The End. Not to worry, a new story will begin tomorrow.

    • Yes indeed, we especially need a new doctor now that we lost Mriya. Losing 4 and Jennifer, puts us way down, but at least we did gain Sky. It might take a while to replace the others. πŸ€”πŸ‘©πŸ˜ΊπŸ˜ΊπŸ˜ΊπŸ•΅οΈβ€β™‚οΈ
