For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
Hi everyone! Welcome back! Hopefully my blog is back to stay again too, everything does seem to be working fine now. Sorry that Muffin’s Fun posts were not out this week, but it was just too hard to get them published. Hopefully Muffin will be back with more fun funnies on Monday. I am way behind on my posting and not quite sure where to begin again, so I will just start. Not much has been happening anyway.
Our weather really cooled off this week and we came close to setting a new record low for July one night. It was positively chilly. The whole week has been cool though. It is supposed to be hot today but it is not even close, their forecast was a bit off obviously. Oh well. And we are getting more rain, for the next 4 days at least. It should be producing a good crop of blueberries, and other berries, this year. That will make the bears happy.

Part of a small bay of a lake we visited back in early June.
Speaking of bears, we had a bear around our building last week. It didn’t stay around long though. Kind of odd seeing one in this area of town though. The robins had a good successful nesting this year and have started their second nesting now. They don’t wait long. Some years they will get 3 nestings done, but they had a late start this year, so there will only be two broods. I haven’t seen any baby gulls flying around yet, but they had a late start this year too.

A Common Loon down at the river.
My balcony garden is doing quite well this summer, the geraniums and petunias are producing lots of flowers. It is nice to sit out there on a hot afternoon where it is a bit cooler. Muffin enjoys it too and is always asking to go out there each day, even on the cooler days. I preferred to stay indoors on those 2 cool days, or wear a jacket. Terrible to wear a jacket in July, but we do get those kinds of summers.
There is just so much cloud around this year that it blocks the sun from getting through to us, so it produces a cooler summer. It has to do with all those volcanoes blowing up last year. That ash gets into the upper atmosphere which then pushes it north to us. That helps to reflect the sunlight which produces more clouds and rain and cooler temps. Oh well.

Nice white Peony with a bit of red in the center. This one is 6 inches (15cm) across.
I have been putting urethane on my new laptop table that I made earlier. It finally was warm enough to do it outside and keep the smell out there. It is all done now so I just need to attach the top of it. The top of it will slide, allowing access to the storage area under it. Making one was the only way to get a laptop table that was the right height. It was very simple to build. I should have taken photos along the way I guess, I kinda forgot that part. Sigh. Well, all for now, have a great day and God bless!

Well I like the coolness of the summer so far, but I would have taken a bit less clouds, particurlarly at nights. I wasn’t able to see the Super Blue Moon last week because of the clouds 🥲.
Have a nice day, Steve and Muffin.

Yes, I wanted to get a picture of that moon but the clouds kept getting in the way. Almost got it one night, because of the smoke in our area it was such a bright orange, but the angle was just not right to get a picture from my apartment and when I went outside the clouds had covered it. Sigh.
Enjoy your week!😊😺☕☕

By the time I could see the moon again, it was down to a quarter again… 😆

Yes, it was. 😔 But at least, I saw it very clearly once the clouds went away (for a bit, it has been super cloudy again this weekend).
