The Investigators, Inc. The Hotel Case. Chapter 4. Help is Coming.

Poor Jennifer, she was devastated after being tricked by Granger. She was angry too, though there really wasn’t much she could do at the moment. She called Kat and told her what happened. Kat was outraged by the news, but not with her sister, with Granger. However, she realized that rage won’t help at a time like this, they need level heads to think this through. She and her Wildcats were not far away, so they would be at the castle fairly quickly.

Matt and the Knight Riders were also fairly close, but a little further away so it doesn’t look like they are working together. Jennifer called Rock and he too was angry at what happened. Although Rock could have sent Matt and his team, he decided to send Kristina and her team since it would be more what would be expected. After all, it only makes sense to send some of our own team out to help us too. But the Knight Riders will still be called into action if they are needed.

Two of the Riders will come out though, Aari and Mac, because Mac will be pretending that he is my cousin, and Aari is a friend of his who wanted to come along to help also. They will still come out as Knight Riders, however, so that Granger can see who they are and look them up. Hopefully that will make him realize that he doesn’t want to anger this gang of ruthless criminals. Right now Jennifer and the girls are waiting in our room, trying to think of some way to deal with this.

Then there was a knock at the door. It was the waitress. “My boss has said that you all must leave the hotel immediately,” she said, “or he will call the police to throw you out. Please don’t be mad at me, I have to do what I’m told. Please don’t hurt me.” “I wouldn’t think of hurting you,” said Jennifer, “but we will not be leaving until my husband is returned, alive. I will come down and let that coward know.” She went down with Nicole, and the owner, Emerick, was in the restaurant having a drink with another man.

Jennifer went in to talk with him. “You coward!” she yelled, “Sending your waitress up to do your job! Now, listen closely (she had lowered her voice to normal now), we will not be going anywhere until my husband is returned, alive, by your boss Granger Williams. Three of my friends were shot and are in serious condition, that is attempted murder, and you are an accessory to those attempted murders. You are also an accessory to kidnapping, and don’t try to tell me you are innocent.

I know the law, as a PI we need to know the law. Now, if you wish to call the police, then I will do the same, only the ones I call will be actual police, not like the ones on Granger’s payroll. If you want us out of here quickly, then tell your boss to give me back my husband, alive. Until then, we stay and we will take this place apart if we have to in order to find my husband. You and Granger better understand that. Also, more people will be coming from The Investigators to help out.

Also, my sister will be coming with some of her gang to help out. We are on opposite sides of the law, but we are still sisters, and she wants to help me. So, don’t get in our way, or you could find yourself in prison for a very long time, if you live long enough to get there.” Then she went back up to our room. Meanwhile, Granger heard everything from his office below the restaurant. He has microphones all over the hotel, including our room, but we have our new scramblers working so it is safe for us to talk there.

“Interesting events unfolding,” said Conrad. “Yes, I didn’t expect a criminal gang to show up and help out,” said Granger, “I wonder what they are called? Tell the miserable hotel owner to find out for us.” “Shall do,” said Conrad. Then Tom and Glen came into the office. “We got that PI safely tucked away in cell 2,” said Tom, “his wrists are chained to the wall and he is asleep on that little pile of straw in the corner. There are rats in there too, so they should keep him company.”

They all laughed at that. However, as I was lying on that straw, something woke me up. It was something brushing against my face. I opened my eyes and lying on that straw beside me was Sky. I wish I knew if it was really her or not, my daydreaming left me doubting things. “Still don’t believe it is me, do you?” she asked. “All this problem with daydreaming makes me doubt,” I said, “and yet, you look so real.” I touched her hair and face.

“You also feel like you are real,” I added, “so from now on I will believe it is you and not a dream.” She smiled. “Good, I’m glad,” she said, “and don’t worry about Granger and his men, I will stay with you the whole time you are here. But you may not always see me. There is a camera and microphone in here, but don’t worry, they can’t hear us and on their camera it still looks like you are chained to the wall.” I checked my hands and arms.

“But how did you get me free?” I asked. “That is a secret Steve,” she said, “and no rats will join you in here either, I made sure of that too. Now, I want to go and talk with Jennifer briefly, then I will be right back. You will be safe while I’m gone, so don’t worry. The two guards in the corridor are sleeping peacefully, and Granger isn’t planning to talk with you for a while.” She then disappeared and I continued to lie still like she told me to do.

Back in our room. Jennifer was sitting in a chair thinking, Dawn and the other Bad Girls were in the room too. Suddenly Sky was standing next to Jennifer’s chair, so Jennifer went invisible so she and Sky could talk. “I am staying with Steve for now,” said Sky, “and I wanted you to know. I can’t communicate like you do, so I have to come and talk. I will keep Steve safe, so don’t worry about him. Also, I am not back to take Steve from you. You are his wife now and it should stay that way.

Steve loves you and told me that to let me know it can’t change, even though I think he still loves me too. I would like to stay with The Investigators too, if that is okay with you. If you would prefer for me to leave once this is over, then I will do so, no hard feelings.” Both of them were crying at this point. “I would love to have you stay with us again Sky,” said Jennifer, “so please, don’t go away, please.” They hugged, then Sky said she should be getting back to me.

“Kat will fix it so you can communicate with us,” said Jennifer, smiling. “That would be great,” said Sky, and off she went. “Why did you go invisible?” asked Dawn. “Sorry, that is a secret for now,” she said, smiling and wiping away tears. “Something happened,” said Katresa, “why can’t you tell us?” “I will tell you when the time is right,” she said, “but for now, Steve is fine, so now we need to figure out how to get him free.”

Back to Sky and myself. “Why can’t you take me out of here?” I asked. “Well, I’m not quite sure how to get you through that big steel, locked door,” she said, smiling, “but I’m working on it…”

  1. Granger is a coward with hired men and coerced people to do his bidding. Steve, on the oother hand has love on his side and Sky has come back from the dead to help him. The teams are rallying and will find a way to get Steve freed. Jennifer was smart to stand up to Granger and not let him intimidate her. When things are unpredictable, Granger will have to be on guard. Things are turning against him. He is not as smart as he thinks!

    • Yes, I agree, he is a coward and he hides behind his “army” of hired men, however many there are. Yes, somehow Sky has returned to help me, but without Dr. W., how did it happen? She wants to stay with our team and thankfully Jennifer was in favor of that idea. I don’t understand how she gets in and out of places, even our other “ghosts” can’t do that, although Kat did something similar with that little girl. Unfortunately getting me out is not so easy. But at least Sky can protect me. Yes, the best way of dealing with Granger is standing up to him, since he is one that uses fear to get what he wants from people. Granger will have to be careful not to come out in the open now. He won’t have a chance if he does. But I think we will find that he has other ideas to put fear into our teams. Our team needs to do the same to Granger.🤔👩😾🕵️‍♂️

    • Hi Dusty! Nice to see you again! You should read the newest case called The Destruction Case and see how many we lost! One third of our team is gone now, totaling over 30 lost, including some of our top members and ones that have been with us the longest. Kind of sad really, but perhaps we got too big. We will come through this stronger than ever though. We now have 5 “ghosts” on the team, if they are ghosts. We still have about 60 people and 23 cats.😺 Some big changes for The Investigators this year. Steve’s wife Sky was killed a while back. I am now married to one of the “ghosts”. 🤔👻 I have to sign off for tonight but I will be around most of the day tomorrow. Would love to catch up with how things are going down your way!🥶😺❄️❄️

    • I’m back. Eating supper now and working on the next chapter of my story. Had to leave earlier, a friend of mine stopped by for a while, then I had a nap, haven’t been sleeping well lately. How’s retired life working out?

      • Well, it is true what others have said, it seems you’re busier than when you were working! But it’s still better than working!! Now if the weather down here would warm up!!🥶 It was below freezing here last night!!😬😲 Anyways, enough about me… how are you??🤔 Are the ladies across the hall treating you well? How is Muffin 🐈 doing? Is she still keeping you on your knees?? Ahh I mean toes??😂😂 How’s that bump on you head? Swelling go down yet??🤭

      • Wow, it’s almost cold enough to be considered spring like weather! We had it at -55F Monday morning.🥶❄️ Just a touch too cold for me. But only going down to -23 tonight and warming up for a few days. It’s a guy across the hall and he’s a nut case. Muffin is doing okay, she just had her 15th birthday. She’s not too active anymore though. Forget the bumps, you should have seen the bruises!🙄🙀

      • I have been kinda lonely lately to be honest. My sister passed away before Christmas and she was the last of my siblings. Healthwise I haven’t been feeling good enough to get out much the last few months. Oh well, old age does these things. Sorry to say, it’s back to bed for me.🥱 What is the best time of day to chat?🤔

    • Aha! I knew it! I was going to make some, but didn’t have any blueberries. So I thought maybe raspberries would work, but I don’t have any. Then i thought maybe apples would work, but they are too big. So I thought maybe bananas would be okay and it worked. Only problem is they tasted like bananas, not blueberries. Sigh.🙄

  8. Sun screen here we come!!😂 I hope the jet stream changes soon. It’s really keeping things cool down here. I’ve been looking forward to it warming up so I can get out flying again.

    • Hey, I have a question. If your president died would the vice president become the next president until the end of that term, or would he have to call a new election just to elect a new president? Also, what would happen if both died at the same time? Highly unlikely I know, but with all the enemies of the US out there, it could happen I suppose.

    • I’m kinda here, but my blog isn’t working properly again today and the “happy people” haven’t been any help and people’s comments don’t show up when they should sometimes they are 8 hours late getting through and I’m having trouble publishing my posts and I didn’t sleep much last night and was up at just before 3am and if this keeps up I will soon be getting up before I go to bed. I keep falling asleep and can’t think straight. Other than that it’s been a good day.😊😂 How’s things on your end?

  12. The sun’s shining! 🌞 ☀️ 🌤 But, still on the cool side, relatively speaking 🔊 It would be a late spring day up there, not so much here, though. So why are you not sleeping? Too much on your mind? Did you make cookies 🍪 today. I am very sorry to hear about your sister. It’s hard to lose a sibling. My brother with cancer is still fighting but slowly losing his battle. We need to get together on our texting. I know I’ve been terrible in the past, but I’ve been working on myself and my mental well being, now that I’m finished with the toxic work situation.

    • It has been snowing most of the day but has finally stopped about 15 minutes ago. Only about 2 inches of snow. My brain won’t shut down even though I’m tired, so it takes a long time to fall asleep. Then if I wake up at 2 or 3, it’s hard to get back to sleep.
      I have missed our chats, unfortunately right now my evenings I’m just too tired and sign off early, often by 7.
      I’m trying to get our church end of year finances done. I was hoping to have it finished today, but I’m just too tired. The government changed the rules again this year which makes more work for me so it takes longer. Oh well.🙄 It’ll be done next week. Muffin just went back to bed.😺

    • Yeah, wish I could fall asleep as fast as she can! Oh, no problem with them bruises, though I can’t see my back so it’s hard to tell about that one, but it’s probably gone, no pain anyway. Well, not from the bruise. Time to make supper, didn’t really have lunch, so I’m hungry.😊

  16. I slept late until about 10:30!😲 Yes, it is much warmer today and is supposed to stay that way for the foreseeable future. No flying today, though it’s too windy. When the winds are higher than 10 mph, it’s not much fun. What are you up to today?

    • That is late. Sorry I disappeared from view, but I ended up getting sick. I think that leftover chicken has been sitting in the fridge too long. I’ll be back tomorrow after church. Good night.

    • Wow, 2 hours ago and it just showed up! Well, it’s 20 today and the sun is shining, feels nice actually. Supposed to get some snow tonight and tomorrow, but I doubt it. Sorry for the late response, but it really did just show up, I’ve been waiting for it too. Sigh.🙄

    • Yeah and it took 2 hours to get here. The Happy People here say there’s nothing wrong. But things are just not working right lately. I was talking to another blogger who is having the same problems.

    • This one came through fast. I’m having lots of problems lately with my blog. They did bring in some new changes recently and I think that’s the problem. They say the changes make things better. I disagree.😖 Those tariffs don’t start until Saturday. We’re going to be in big trouble if it happens.🤔🙄

    • This just came through, sorry for the delay, wish I could get it fixed. Things are working better than they were though so I guess that’s something. Sigh. I’m here, not sure if I’m awake or not. Nice day, cloudy, about 27 and we had a couple inches of snow overnight. What’s the weather like, I want to warm up!😂

    • I was just about to say, I have to sign off for a bit and work on that. I should have it done by tomorrow. The government hit us with something new this year and I’m still trying to figure out how to work things out.🙄 Hopefully I do it right so they don’t decide to audit us. Sigh. Talk later.😊

  27. I couldn’t agree more! It’s a bit foggy and soggy here this morning. I’m waiting for the HVAC guys to come back and replace my ac/heater. The old one was Kapput!🤯

    • I’m back again. Hard to believe, after I said hi this morning I got a phone call. It lasted over 2 hours!! Government regulations. They always like to change things to “improve”. I’m not sure what they are trying to improve, but it never makes things easier. Therefore I won’t be finished the year end Church finances and taxes today. I’m worn out after talking for 2 hours and I feel like going to bed for a nap. Sigh.🙄🥱😖

    • You have your own island?????!!🤔😮 Walking on the beach??????!!!😮 You haven’t sent me any pics of your new place yet.📷 Sniff, sniff. Did my laundry this morning, these early mornings are tough sometimes. My laundry time is 5 to 7am, but I was there at 4am this morning.

  37. Oooooo….. that’s really early!😲 I hope you didn’t do too much to do… Yep! I call it my own…🤫 but really I go and visit it. I live about 20 miles from it. That way, I don’t need to deal with the tourists. My place really isn’t much. Actually, I live in an 850 sq ft trailer in a park. It’s gated and quiet and has a pool. No yard work, just relaxing. It’s been all remodeled and insulated, new flooring and an attached breezeway and a 12×12 shop to store my planes and work on them. I’ll take some pictures after I have the car port roof pressure washed. Then it will be nice and clean right now it’s a little grubby.

    • Well, that’s way bigger than my 500 sq ft apartment. Wish I still had a place to work on projects. I can work out on my balcony in summer, though it’s not very big really, but it’s a bit cool this time of year.
      Yeah, it is early, I came back and had breakfast, then I had a nap, unintentionally, that was over an hour long. That helped a lot, but I’m still tired.
      Nice and sunny today, but much cooler than yesterday. It’s -20 right now but should warm up to about -14 by mid afternoon.🥶❄️

  38. Yikes!!😲🥶 Better put another quilt on the recliner to keep your tootsies warm!! Yeah, all the work to the house in MN is done now so I’m thinking I will sell it and use the money to buy an actual house here and rent the trailer for extra income throughout the year.

    • Hey, not a bad idea. Although Muffin is keeping me warm right now. That’s also a good idea, selling and buying I mean, plus renting your trailer. That is something I would do. Well, I must sign off for a bit and get some housework done. Back later!😊☕

    Yeah, I haven’t been sleeping well lately, either. My Social Security keeps changing as far as how much I receive each month. The Medicare cost is crazy high!🤯 almost $500 a month !! So I’m appealing the amount but I don’t have much faith it will go down very much.🤑

    • How come your Social Security keeps changing so often? At least we don’t have to worry about our OHIP, which is our Medicare. My medication is free, except for 3 things, but they don’t cost much.

  44. It has to do with my income in the previous year before the year I filed. They call it IRMA because I had higher earnings for 2023, and they increased my Medicare insurance cost accordingly. I won’t even make anywhere near that amount in 2025, I’ll only have my SS!😡

    • Wow, that seems like an odd way to do things. I mean, that’s 2 years ago. They should realize your income would be less now. Last year in September my rent increased 27%. Legal limit is 3% but because of all the upgrades to the building they were able to pass that on to the tenants. Sigh. Sometimes I think I should have stayed where I was.🙄

    • Yep, happens to me too. Last night was better than the previous 3 nights, actually got about 6 hours sleep instead of the usual 4. Then I have to sleep during the day.🥱

    • Yep, sometimes you just gotta go to bed early and catch up on some needed sleep! I’ll be doing the same thing. Days are getting longer up here in the cold north land. Muffin didn’t see her shadow yesterday so that means an early spring! 😊😻

  48. Wooo whoo! 🙌🫶 I hope it starts to warm soon for you. It was very nice here today. I finished gluing the plane I crashed last week back together today. So I’m gonna try and go fly early in the morning. I should be back by noon though. The winds start up around 10 to 11.

    • Cool stuff! Hope it’s good flying weather for you! I don’t think there will be much warming anytime soon, still February does sometimes give us some temps in the 30s and 40s. Just a tease though as it gets cold again afterward. Usually if we don’t get that warming trend it means an early spring. I’m making supper right now, I suddenly got hungry. Happens at times for some reason.😋😂
      You should start reading my latest story case and get to know some of the new characters, and ghosts, and cats. Chapter 8 comes out this evening.🤔🕵️‍♂️👻😼
