For a smile as wide as a country sunrise
The drug, or whatever it was, that was used on some of our team, wore off Kitty and Engla sooner than expected. That turned out to be a good thing as they recognized that something was wrong with Paul, so Engla went to check out his room, finding the gun he used. Kitty remained inside when she saw that Paul was also staying inside, instead of going out with all the others. That got her curious, so she wanted to see what he was up to.
If he had figured out how to get that machine gun working, she would have shot him. But 10 girls, plus Matt, Bear and Patrick, were outside at the time the attackers arrived and opened fire on the team. They didn’t have much chance since only two of them had their guns. They had already begun to relax the rules too much. Sky and Angel went back that morning to look around some more, but they didn’t arrive in time.
However, the six attackers were killed, 3 by a large lion and 3 by electricity. The driver of the van was captured alive however, even though Rock wanted to kill him. But, we might be able to get some information from him, so Sky was able to reason with Rock. Matt and Patrick were killed in the attack, plus Paul died at the hands of Rock, and Bear was seriously wounded. Of the 10 girls, 7 were killed and 3 wounded seriously.
The Investigators have been hit hard this time, but, we still have a large team, with Trapper and his friends as possible new additions. But after this, they just might decide to go somewhere else and I wouldn’t blame them. Right now Kat, Carine and Sky are at the chateau trying to see if they can put some pieces together after this latest attack. I don’t want to send anyone else over there for now since our enemy just might decide to attack again.
Having the ghosts there is safe enough plus Kitty and Engla asked for permission to help search for clues. I wasn’t sure about that, but our ghosts said they would watch them closely to make sure they didn’t hide anything that might be important. Rock handed Annelie’s diary to Sky and that shed much light on how this all unfolded. Sky brought it back to me so I could check it out. It certainly gave us a lot of information.
Annelie resisted Paul’s attention at first but gradually gave in and soon was in love with him. Hard to imagine really, Paul was not exactly handsome and he was 45 years old, but in good physical condition. But why she would leave Rock for Paul is hard to understand. Why Annelie would betray us is very hard to understand, she has been with us longer than anyone else on the team. She came from a criminal organization and was one of the top 4 people in it, but she was very glad to get out and she helped us destroy that organization too.
She helped Paul contact Medina, Toledo’s niece, but after all that Toledo had done to our team, why would she do this? Makes no sense really, and I guess we will never know for sure. Apparently Matt was also paying a lot of attention to Annelie which she was enjoying very much. She also used that to recruit Matt to their side. Matt and Paul had one thing in common, they were both at the top, giving orders to others and they found it hard to be in the position of receiving and obeying orders.
The hardest loss was Kristina, she was innocent really, like most of them were. But Kristina was part of our team for a long time as well and she had risked her life to save mine while we were swimming in the ocean on that case rescuing Maci (now Aasta), the Major’s (now Aari) daughter. We also discovered that those who turned on us had received a drug, given by Brook, then a small laser weapon was somehow smuggled in to Paul which he used on the drugged people and that combination made them totally willing to do whatever they were told.
We now have that weapon in our possession so it can be studied and hopefully we can find a way to block it’s effects, so it can’t be used against us at another time. This was certainly a well planned strategy that devastated our team. However, Medina will learn that her attack on us will be costly for her too. Even if she goes into hiding right now, we will find her eventually. She is much too dangerous for us to ignore this attack.
First we have to find her, just because she had a Canadian phone number does not mean she lives in Canada. Cristy did track down that phone number, but it was a women’s prison in Ontario and no one with that name was in the prison or working at the prison. It wasn’t hard for Cristy to get a list of people serving time at the prison, along with photos, plus all employees of the prison and their photos. Nothing was even close to matching the known photos we have of Medina however, so that was discouraging…
To Be Continued.

It was a good thing that the effect of the mind altering force field or drug wore off Kitty and Engla, so they could see what Paul was doing.
Good thing that Sky and Angel returned and were able to kill the attackers. The divided team would not have done well with only two guns. Unfortunately, they illustrate how a divided team falls, literally.
Annelie, is a puzzle. Her long association with the Investigators was thrown away for Paul and recruiting Matt. The rebellion of key team members is a mystery. There must have been conflicted motives in the turncoats. What devastation was caused by them!
Where is Medina?

Yes, things would have been worse if they were still drugged, and they likely would have been killed too.
Yes, Sky and Angel were able to kill the attackers, it’s just too bad they couldn’t have been 5 minutes earlier. Yes, a divided team does fall, quite dramatically sometimes. The Investigators have been devastated by this. Yes, why did Annelie do this? It really makes no sense. But her betrayal began with betraying her husband, it was all downhill for her from that point. The main people who were the real traitors were Paul, Annelie, Matt and Brook, perhaps Penny too. It seems everyone else was drugged, then basically hypnotized with that laser weapon. We lost some good team members for sure. But we will ever know the complete truth?
We must find Medina.π€π©πΎπ΅οΈββοΈ

It is doubtful you will know the real truth for the betrayals. But it started small and grew into an inferno that destroyed many.

Yes, with most everyone involved having been killed, the total truth will lie hidden. Hopefully we can learn some things which might help us prevent this from happening again.
