The Investigators, Inc. The Museum Case. Chapter 9. Unexpected Help.

Now, while all of this was going on, something very surprising happened. Cristy got a phone call from Jazzy, who is still in prison, because she had heard that Karl was after us. Surprisingly that angered her. Seems she hates Karl more than she hates me, and she knew something, we would not be able to stop Karl by ourselves. But, she could help and she would be willing to do so.

Cristy asked her some questions and she told Cristy that she had a laser gun that could help us defeat Karl. “He has a shield around him that gives him strength,” said Jazzy, “he did die in that prison fight and Dr. W. helped him, like he helped your ghost people. I really don’t understand all of that, but that’s how he was able to break out of prison.

If you can pick up the laser gun, just shoot it at Karl anywhere on his body and it will disengage the shield long enough for you to attack him and destroy him. But you will need to work fast. And first thing you need to do is find out what terrifies Karl most, Kat should know that, and terrify him with that, then use the laser. Then do whatever you can. When can you pick up the laser?”

“As soon as you give me the address,” said Cristy, “Sky will be there to pick it up. We have to work fast because we believe Karl will be attacking our team very soon.” Jazzy gave Cristy the address and Sky was there immediately and picked up the laser from a very astonished man. He just couldn’t believe how she could get there so fast and she didn’t have time to explain. She then was gone again.

Then as the girls were driving both Kat and Carine disappeared from the car, but Jennifer stayed behind to make sure she would survive. That way I would not lose my wife again. However, I had already decided that if our ghosts don’t survive, then I would terminate the Investigators. After all, Karl would be able to destroy us any time he wanted, so it would be safer for everyone if we disbanded and went our separate ways.

What I didn’t know was that Karl wasn’t interested in me, except as a means to get Kat to cooperate with him. Kat already had decided to try something to protect all of us. But, would it work? And, is it the best thing to do? Now, we rejoin the story where Karl had just come crashing through the door of our hotel room, where Sky and Angel were waiting for him.

“I want that PI,” yelled Karl again, “where is he?” “I will get him for you,” said Sky, and she disappeared into the hallway. But, she basically came right back again, only not with me, but with Kat. “Hello father,” she said, “I am ready to do as you said and join with you, but on one condition.” “What condition is that my daughter,” he said. “That you leave all of my friends alone,” she said, “and that includes Steve.”

“Done!” he said immediately, “I never wanted Steve anyway, except to get you to work with me, but this way is better!” Kat began to walk toward her father when Angel dropped to her hands and knees, changing into that huge lion. Kat had remembered that her father was terrified of lions, due to an incident that happened when he was 5 years old. And that terror is very real.

“Tell her to change back!” he yelled, “I will kill it, I will kill it!” “Attack Angel kitty, attack!” yelled Sky. Angel kitty leaped through the air, landing on Karl with him screaming in terror! Carine then appeared with the laser weapon and fired it at Karl, causing him to scream again and causing a glow all over his body which then disappeared and he looked normal again.

“Now Sky, now!” yelled Kat. Angel kitty had already fallen backward and lay on the floor from coming in contact with that shield surrounding Karl. “Where?” asked Sky. “Goliath!” shouted Kat. “Goliath?” asked Sky, “Oh, the Bible!” She then shot her electricity at Karl’s forehead, giving him the largest shot she could.

Then she cupped her hands, making a round ball of electricity and tossed it at Karl hitting him directly on his forehead. He yelled and fell back against the wall. Kat meantime had been giving strength to Angel kitty who then got up and attacked again while Kat went over to Sky who was on her knees, bent over, on the bed, very weak.

“You have the strength Sky,” she said, holding her tightly, “you have the strength. Just one more time.” Karl was still alive and picked up that huge lion, tossing Angel kitty hard against the wall across the room. The lion changed back to Angel who now laid lifeless on the floor. Sky tried to shoot once more, but was just too weak and collapsed on the bed.

Kat tried hard to revive her, but she had lost so much of her own strength by now that she soon collapsed beside Sky. Carine saw a destruct button on her laser weapon, pressed it and tossed it at Karl. He was already lying face down on the floor when the weapon exploded in flames. Karl was destroyed before she did this, but Carine wanted to make sure.

Carine knew she could not help all three of the ghosts, so she chose to work on Kat first. Jennifer then arrived and told Carine to help Angel, while she helped Kat and Sky. Then Jennifer called Misty and told her to make an announcement. “Why me?” she asked, “I’ll cry.” “You can do it Misty,” said Jennifer, “just talk slow.” So that is what she did.

“To all members of the Investigators, this is Misty,” she began, “I know you were waiting for one of the ghosts to make this announcement, but I was asked to do it instead. First, the Red Alert has been cancelled, you may all return to the hotel, Karl has been destroyed. However, it came at a cost, there have been casualties on our side…Angel…Sky…Kat…however, Jennifer and Carine are okay…”

She was unable to say any more, she was crying too much. I arrived back at the hotel and entered our room. I went over to Jennifer, still trying to revive Kat, and crying too. “Sky put these bracelets on me,” I told Jennifer, “she hoped they might help protect me. She said only you and Kat can remove them.

Jennifer looked at them and immediately took them off and put them on Sky right away. “No wonder Sky ran out of strength,” she said. Jennifer put her hands on the bracelets to warm them, hoping she could get strength into Sky this way…
